I think the problem with the "Hot Coffee" mod is that if it was in the game when sold, locked or otherwise, the ESRB should have been informed. They were'nt and that is why the ESRB is investigating.
R* actually say that this mod isn't in the game and is the result of someone hacking the code and making this mod themselves. It has nothing to do with them, says R*.
I've yet to hear about a similar investigation in the UK.
It would seem in the US some people become demented with the thought of SEX in games!

Sorry to ruin it for you but I dont see any improvements, I've just checked it, well atleast from what I can see.
;)
PS. I have a 28'' TV.
That doesn't have details on very high. Look at some of the other screens father down from the first post. Much higher resolution (1280x1024 vs 640x480) and better textures.

I think gang wars are tougher this time around. I don't remember so many gang members you have to kill this time. Plus, with the mouse, there's no auto-targeting, so it requires some skill. :scared:

I wish the PC Version was more stable... I get random lockups for 10 seconds and then it continues to play normally. Oh well, GTA hasn't been known for stability.

Have you downloaded any mods for it yet?

The only thing keeping me from buying it is a crappy videocard :( .

And probably not enough ram. 512DDR.

Not yet, nothing I've seen has tickled my fancy.

Probably. I'm running a 2600+ at 1.83ghz fine, which is equivalent to a 2.6ghz P4. 2.4 should easily be enough.

PC SA must be fundamentally slow. Even with my new comp (A64 3200+ Venice, GF 6800GT (@Ultra), 1 gig 3200 DDR) vs (XP 2600+, R9800 (clocked to Pro), 1 gig 2700 DDR), I only get 40fps with frame limiter off compared to around 30 before in a particually 'stressful' area. Still you can turn up graphics to maximuim in everything with little performance hit. Game still bogs down with lots of smoke too 👎

Pity they didn't add the really nice reflections from Xbox VC/GTA3, would've looked a whole lot nicer. Vice City on PC runs like stink even on my old setup too and doesn't look much worse.

I'm sure in heavily wooded areas you'd get some slowdown, because of all the dynamic shadows. If you noticed, the shadows actually move with the sun. With all of those shadows going on in a forest would probably hurt the FPS.
Thing is my rig is well above the recommended specs, and it still has terrible framerates in some areas. I can run UT2004 at max details, 6x anti-aliasing and 16x anistropic filtering faster than what San Andreas runs at. So, something is obviously up with San Andreas itself. Hopefully a patch from Rockstar will fix things up.

My rig:

Athon 64 3500+
Radeon X850XT PCI-E
1GB DDR400 memory

My motherboard (MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum) also has a dynamic overclocking thing which I've set to 3%.

I've installed the infamous Hot Coffee mod (:D) and a mod to double the draw distance (I tried the 10x mod but it has some problems such as a lot of flickering textures and such).

I don't really like the idea of replacing cars and such in the game, as it wrecks what Rockstar intended you to play. Maybe after I finish the game I'll look into some more serious mods.

I just made a gallery of all my photos using PS. Go ahead. Look Here if you're bored.
(Works best in firefox)

R* changed they way the car parts are linked together and the names of the seperate car parts in SA. (It took a few weeks to get all that sorted, and a working import/export program) There have also been a few other changes. In the PS2 version of SA certain 18 wheelers had dually rear wheels, the PC version the trucks don't have them.

I'm not sure how many of you played the stunt park mods or the highway mods for the earlier GTA games, but the map maker Odie (he's basically a GTA legend) died around the time when the game was released for the PC, but we were only recently notified of it. It was a sad announcement for the GTA modding community. You can read about it here.

In Vice theres auto-targeting, but it has to be in "classic" mode. Do you have that?

Eh, I'm having issues with slowness too. I have a 2.7ghz celeron, 1.5gb RAM, and a Radeon 9600xt 256mb ddr video card, but it's still very slow. My frame usually only goes up to about 25, and the rest of the time it hovers around 15fps. I don't have it on max draw or AA, or highest detail either...
