PD holding somthing back?

It was November 2006 when I stood out in the freezing cold hungover waiting to get a PS3. I'll never forget it because I came home with a Wii instead.:( Eventually got my 60gig July 2007, the day of the first price drop.

@rudenut: Are there shortages? Really?

Could it be that the running processes are so complex that they consume them faster, and maybe by simplifying said processes you could get more out of the existing memory?

Yes, they are holding stuff back. What sense would it be to release everything at once? We have an update coming between tommorow and the 31st, so there's 25/24 days for something to happen. Wether it's more DLC, it may be, it may just be an Update. Either way, don't bloody complain when it hits.
 
Well like someone mentioned everytime Turn 10 bring a big DLC package out, PD usually intervenes by doing something amazing themselves..

With FM4 getting that huge Porsche DLC pack with 30 cars on the roster in May, i'm sure Polyphony have to fire back with something big as well too..They need a nice big DLC pack with some new cars and at least 2 tracks..Hope Motegi doesnt take to long to come this way.

Well like someone mentioned everytime Turn 10 bring a big DLC package out, PD usually intervenes by doing something amazing themselves..

I dont see the whole philosophy of keeping everything so close to your chest. Wouldnt you want to build hype for whatever your going to be putting out next? All the hype from the new NSX has already died down. They should be taking whatever momentum they have and roll with it.

How many threads/news/rumor stories are there all over the web about this all? They get tons of free hype by not doing anything on their own ;)

I seriously don't think the PS3 is anywhere near being "maxed out".

Developers just haven't unlocked its full potencial because:

- when designing a multi-platform game, developers use the X-Box 360 as the lowest common denominator, since it's technically inferior and easier to program for. So the PS3 gets held back on multi-platform games;

- regarding PS3 exclusives, I don't think developers have fully mastered designing for the PS3 yet, because of it being harder or just plain different. No doubt PD and, for example, Naughty Dog, have taken hardware use to a whole new level, but I still think there's plenty of uncharted territory to discover. (pun intended :D)

That being said, though, I still think PD will choose to prolong GT5's life through DLC, rather than develop a new game for the PS3.

I suspect there's just so much content they want to put in GT6 that they won't have the time to do it in the PS3's lifespan. :drool: :dopey:

You have been deluded by Sony my friend, same as most of us, truth is in nearly every department the X360 is better, like it or not its true, PS3 has big memory and bandwith issues and even if PD could improve the engine it would be because of more efficient coding but belive me if they could do it, it would have been done.

You can really tell that Turn 10 milked every drop out of the power of the 360 to create this UGLY looking racing game...Have you seen Indianapolis speedway in the cockpit view of this joke? Just aweful.. I laugh at FM fanboys that think FM is better then GT5.. It's not on the same hemisphere.. Yes the sounds for some of the car engines I agree are aweful in GT5. But Graphics/Physics cannot be compared period!!

So Porsche is coming back to FM4? Man, if PD would jump on the bandwagon and get the Porsche license as well, then the reality of the cars would be sooo much greater then Turn 10 could ever think of producing.. Dam GT sells cars by how real they look.. What's up with Porsche not looking at GT the way they do EA NFS Shift (Now that license ended, now I know why Turn 10 ran to them) and Forza? Shakes head..

ROFL...360 is better...Better in what? No exclusives anymore..Letting all their big first party developers go except a few? Ummm if you are talking 360 is a more powerful machine, then i'd go get some glasses, cause if you are thinking FM4 Graphically and Technically looks better then GT5, I'd have to say your dreamin..

Face it.. 360's got no more juice under the hood... That explains all the jaggies and mega flickering on your screen when you fire up FM4.. GT5 looks better then any PC sim out there... Physics wise it's up there at the top..

Lol, it was a good one but that wasn't why we came home with a Wii. It was the release day of Wii, a couple days after the release of PS3, and my buddy heard that our local Sam's was receiving 5 Ps3's. We called and confirmed and figured we'd buy two and sell one since they were going for thousands at the time. We drank until 3, got to Sam's at 7 with some Topper's Sticks (anyone who went to college in Wisconsin should know what that is) and were 3rd and 4th in line. Problem was they didn't get PS3's even though the store confirmed it, but did have Wii's. We decide to still wait for the store to open and bought one Wii and a couple games. Sold it for $500 right away, if we would have waited a couple weeks for the Wii shortages we could have made a ton more at around Black Friday. That's the story of how I went for a PS3 and came home with a Wii, all with a big headache.

I have owned a PS3 from launch solely for GT5, I have never owned an XBOX cos I hate MS and I'm starting to dis like Sony too for all the BS they spout!

Anyway, DLC? Sony/PD are in buisness to make money, end of.
What will make more money? DLC or GT6? There's your answer!

You missed my point.

1st. The PS3's HARDWARE is superior to the Xbox 360's. Just pull the specs on both of them and compare.

2nd I never said shared games were better on the PS3. Apparently, I've heard it's quite the contrary, which I believe, because, like I said, games are made with the technically inferior console in mind, and "ported" to the PS3.

I'd love to see an Xbox running Uncharted or GT5... "Walking" would be more like it. Plus, they'd have to come with 3 or 4 DVD's...

EDIT: Bah. Just noticed this is waaaay off topic. Oh well. Sorry about that.

Going way off topic now but IMO if Naughty Dog made Uncharted on 360 too it would be at least as good!

PS3 hardware is slightly better but it is clogged with bottlenecks and RAM issues!
 
I'm surprised to see that there still is a generation thinking that PD's next big thing is waiting just behind the next crest. I've been playing Gran Turismo for more than fourteen years now, and I've been having the same hopes again and again for many of those years.

All I can say is: good luck, you need it! :D

I would have no problems with sharing games with the Xbox if game designing were to be the same.

Perhaps the performance problems you refer to are due to it being harder to build a game for the PS3, like I said earlier... The fault there would lie with Sony, for making it like that and/or the developers, for not being able to adapt...

Hate to be that guy, and really I'm wanting to know what's next for GT5 as well.

But...what if there is nothing next and PD is done with GT5 and they announce it next week. I mean it is just a hypothetical but it may happen, who knows.
 
PD did say that GT5 goes beyond the PS3's capabilities.

I seriously hope that doesn't mean that GT6 will be on the PS4, because I'm not sure whether my G27 can be used. :scared:
