Man, I'm really dissapointed with the 3D capabilities of GT.
Too much ghosting/double imaging. I would much appreciate better graphics.

I've tried tuning it in the menu, but nothing works. If there is some magical
combination of settings im not aware of, I'd appreciate the heads up.

If you play in 3D and feel the same as I do, leave a reply with your signature. Maybe they'll hear us if we make a big enough noise.

Convergence 3
Parallax .90

No ghosting and looks amazing on my tv.

I dont think there is much space for improvement.
PD already have cut some corners, With Spec-2 i have noticed that your tire marks fade out but now you can see the tire marks from the other cars.
Maybe it was changed before spec-2 update, but i noticed it after spec 2.

The amount of cross-talk depends a lot on the TV. This image compares a few TVs from different vendors.

I have ordered the Philips 46PFL9706H (bottom-left image) and will let you know how good or bad it really is, when it arrives.

There are 1.456.123 things to fix in this game and 3D comes in last place.

There are 1.456.123 things to fix in this game and 3D is the last thing PD should think about.

Yep. 3D was probably suggested by Sony, even to the point that it was pressurised. PD needs to prioritise as we all know. A better presented game has more priority than a 3D option that a minority of players will only use.
3D is a gimmick in my opinion. It'll never properly take off. Me and most of my friends get head ache when watching them at stores.

Sony should spend less time with 3D and develop hologram sets instead! lol

I would've loved better graphics and no 3d at all. The resources PD has spent on 3d could've been used for the smoke/shadow effects...

I think the problem of smoke/shadow is down to the lack of power in the PS3, what they have done with GT5 graphics is already amazing considering. The 3D graphics was a last minute thing thrown in to help sell sony 3D TV's most likely, I doubt PD originally wanted to do it, considering how much they were already asking of the console with the graphics.

I love how if people don't use a feature it: sucks, was a waste of time, and evil Sony forced PD to waste valuable resources on it.(See X2010, 3D, driving suits, etc)
GT5 3D on a good tv with the correct settings is an absolutely amazing experience. Driving from the cockpit view in a pack of cars on a track such as Spa just can not be topped. It is similar to triple monitors, not everyone will use it, but the immersion it adds when done right is unlike anything else you can experience without it in GT5.

Personally, it has renewed my passion for the game along with Spa. I didn't have a 3D tv the first 10 months the game was out, but now that I do and have experienced it done right, I know it absolutely was a good feature done well by PD.

Exactly, i absolutely love GT5 in 3D, its a great expierence, and glad that they have it in the game.

I agree. Using the cockpit view, even the standard car's blackout is a great experience. Wheel to wheel you can tell the cars are very close when looking to the side. Definitely a feeling of space. The sharper edges/corners of cars don't really look right. They seem to bright and odd. I use 3D 25% of the time. I would use it more if the option to turn on/off was more accessible.

That said, the 720p limitation really bums me out. Can you imagine 1080px30fps. Although if I were to rank Display types; I'd pick a 3-5 display setup to a 1 display 3D one. Of course that would mean a 5 display 3D setup would be king. If you can do that. In 3D I desperately want more screen as this somewhat natural 3D image just ends abruptly. I've told my wife that I'm getting two more 55" TVs that will fold up and rest below the ceiling. Pipe dream!

I agree with this and I don't have a 3D TV. Even if it's not done to it's full ability it is in and they can build on it to make it better. I cannot wait to get my 3D TV. 👍

They just definitely need to make 3D test picture within 3D TV menu. It took me about 2 hours to set-up 3D properly. But worst news are that you need different settings for cockpit view. 3D test image please!!!

Wow!That's one of the best LCD TV out there! I have 42PFL7606 (passive 3D) and I have much worse crosstalk than Digital Versus provided... :(

PD should prioritise 3D graphics, since 3D IS the future of gaming.

I agree with the above posters who play in 3d. It's a much more enjoyable gaming experience, tonnes better than 2d. People who've never played GT in 3d don't have a clue what they're missing out on.

PD PLEASE improve GTs 3D capabilities

I think they improved the cockpit view since spec2.
My 3D settings are 7, 0.01. I tried the X2010 cockpit and it's awesome. no more going at 2323km/h.

Not much PD can do since they have 512MB of VRAM to work with.

Even if they manage to get a few more megabytes free it won't do much.

i wish PD would spend their resources elsewhere, not on something 0.2% of ppl use.
I don't have a 3D tv.

PD is future proofing the series. 3D tv's aren't Rolex watches. People will be able to afford 3D sooner rather than later if they can't right now.

It's not like you have to use it lol just kidding. I'll go away now.

A very high convergence setting - 0.90 - got rid of most of the cockpit crosstalk/ghosting on my 2011 Samsung 3D plasma (some cars still have visible problems though). And with depth/parallax at six or seven if I recall correctly.
