Barriga: “It’s not official that Ronda will host GT6’s worldwide premiere”
The more than possible world premiere of GT6 at Ronda has caused some grievance between the government and Ascari, the company that began contacts with PlayStation so that our city could host one of the most hope-giving touristic projects for the area in recent years and that could only report benefits to its hurt economy.
Today the delegate for tourism, Isabel María Barriga, has showed her disgust saying that “someone has put his particular or professional interests above the welfare of the entire city”. Her declarations arrive after some media published as something official the fact that Ronda had been chosen as the venue to host the event, planned for the beginning of December.
Barriga says that “there’s still no official communication from Sony that confirms that the world premiere of the videogame will take place here” and she has gone further affirming “this informations could endanger the final decision after all the hard teamwork between Turismo de Ronda, Ascari and the Last Lap agency”.
“In this work team we asked for confidentiality at all times and some inexact informations have been leaked”, reasons why she stated that “if one day I get proof of the identity of that person or company, we’ll take measures about it. Neither it’s official, neither it’s only Ascari who would get it”, she emphasized. According to an Andalucian government official “Ascari has done an excellent job, but the town hall could’ve played a fundamental role in case we are able to convince Sony”.
Ascari sources have denied that the company leaked the announcement from PlayStation, although they’ve said they won’t emit any official communication denying the truth of the published information.
About the posible selection of Ronda, Barriga stated that it “would be very important, because it would be publicity we could never afford and the arrival of around 300 journalists from around the world, with all the effects that has”.
In the upcoming days the decision from Sony will be known, although facts like the naming of a street city with Kazunori Yamauchi’s name, creator of the legendary Gran Turismo franchise, or the confirmation of dozens of rooms in various hotels at Ronda, indicate that negotiations are going very well.
