Really makes me wish we evolve someday.

As usual, I open my lobby "free run/do whatever" on Top Gear, and get some people. In about an hour, I get around 10 people. Unfortunately, you get the mindless idiots too.

Had to deal with Gheyron and X1 kiddies, as well as others in Buicks or Fgt's.

Reason?

ALL because I was driving my 55hp yellow Fiat 500F. I swear I'm a target in this thing :/, yet it's a fun car to drive, even when it's stock.

Here's a good story: kicked out a FGT 🤬 who thought my stock Fiat 500 was a soccer ball. Turns out, being a virgin relates to me "being mad and kicking people" (direct quote from his message afterwards). *facepalm*

Out of the whole lobby time (4 1/2 hours), I kicked out around 8 people...EIGHT! Probably was more or less, but around that number.

On the bright side, met up with 2 other guys who also had Suzuki Cappricuno RM cars, had a nice cruise around the track :D, too bad you can't take pictures while driving.

It's like COD, only replacing guns with cars. Next you'll be hearing people brag because they have a steering sensitivity of 7. *sigh*

Just had to let this out. So many people who think their e-penis is huge :dunce:.

I know how you feel. And then theirs some, who love to drive in the reverse direction.

Exactly why I almost NEVER play online anymore.

*sigh*

This wouldn't be a problem if we had more to do offline :\

You could just go into photomode for the replay...
True, but it was a free run lobby. I'm certain it wouldn't go down well with the Veyrons and whatever else people were driving.

Yup, had a couple do that too, but they just moved out of the way and never really attempted to hit people (though I had a guy in a Veyron claim he didn't see my 330 P4...all I could think was "rrriiiigggghhhtttt....", and gave him a second chance).

Exactly why I almost NEVER play online anymore.

I agree! I'd be playing offline, but there's a lack of stuff to do. Online isn't bad, it just sucks when people ram you when you're not host.

Yeah, it isn't bad all the time, but it's bad most of the time.

When you do find a decent lobby, it doesn't last as long as you'd want it to before someone with a totally different mindset comes in... :grumpy:  👎 :yuck:

Considering you're admittedly @ 55hp in your Fiat, it should come as no surprise that you were getting rammed by the much, MUCH faster (20x more powerful) cars on the track. Even for the most talented drivers, it's almost impossible to avoid what is basically a stationary object, especially on a track like Top Gear, and doubly so in a Veyron, FGT, etc.

If all you're interested in is some low-speed japery, try limiting the horsepower or performance points to something a little closer to what you plan on driving. That is, if you don't wanna get punted around like a football at field goal practice. In fact, all you're doing is asking for trouble by leaving the restrictions open and, I fear, fostering a spirit of negativity amongst your fellow racers by kicking them for daring to choose a fast car for what is arguably the world's most famous high-speed testing grounds, when your primary interest is, and I quote, "...a nice cruise...".

You can always use forums, you know, like this one, and meet other serious players in search of a good match. I always open a lobby for good racers and, by voting, we chose just one car and race with it. We can use your Fiat whenever you want ;).

In every on-line game, just like in real life, there are a lot of assholes around, but there's also good people and if you want to know the best drivers that videogames can offer, you go to Gran Turismo.

Yes restrict your races to as close as possible for what you wanna run/ what ur opponents can run!

Online is the best part of the game. Fill your friends list with other good drivers and join them.

You were asking for trouble.

If you can't avoid something going 60 mph on a track, you're either a bad driver or going too fast. Also, they were hitting him on purpose.

OP, i agree 100%. I joined a lobby once which was a 'Low power car' lobby, only to find 2 12 year olds running around in X1's and ramming into my Fiat.

I'd love to join a low power car lobby. I've got a bunch of sub-100hp cars I've been wanting to drive without becoming a rolling chicane for other players. :)

Have you EVER seen a real race? For instance, a driver spins out mid-corner, it almost always results in a crash. A guy pulls back onto the racing line from going off, he's likely to get rear ended. Even taking a corner too slowly can send cars flying. And these are cars in the same class as one another, driven by GOOD drivers.

As for whether or not they were doing it on purpose, I can't say. I wasn't there.

I was in the room he wasn't hard to avoid at all.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but you're talking about sudden situations. If you're just cruising at 60mph, you should be pretty predictable and quite easy to pass/avoid. Crashes are a sudden situation and pretty hard to avoid sometimes, so of course it'll probably result in a crash.

I would consider joining a no-limits room, getting on track in my hypothetical FGT/Veyron, making it half-way thru a lap before coming around a corner at 150+ mph and finding a stock Fiat 500 in my path a textbook "sudden situation".

Easily avoided by setting a PP/HP limit.

Having "do whatever" in the track title & no power/weight or PP restrictions will cause that.

I now do 500pp (sometimes 550) with "clean laps" included in the title. I then set my welcome message as "clean laps or be kicked" so there is no misunderstanding.

Had a few idiots but kick them quickly and not had any issues with abuse...

You obviously don't watch much ALMS or mixed class racing... These guys (in the fastest prototypes) EXPECT to see a much slower car around any blind corner. And drive appropriately. If you know what is on the grid at the start of any race, or in free run mode can see the cars on the track with you, then it is YOUR responsibility to drive with caution.

The shoe is on the other foot, IMO, in this case. You join HIS lobby, you have ELECTED to be on a track with a much slower car. It's not his job to restrict his lobby. If you don't want to risk coming on another slower car suddenly, it is YOUR job to find a lobby with a higher PP/HP rating...

In a free run lobby, you have to expect some collisions, as there will be people running drags and doing other silly things.

The problem comes when people are deliberately annoying.

P.S. what's wrong with Buicks?

Its your fault for not properly creating the lobby or putting restrictions.

Lobby creator WANTS all types of cars to enjoy the track. It is up to YOU to respect him (as you would expect anyone else to respect whatever YOU create). As I said, if you DON'T want to be on a track with a much slower car, it is YOUR job to leave. Go make your own lobby.

Or is it all about YOU..? :yuck:

Oddly enough, I am an American Le Mans fan. In fact, many of the crashes that come to mind happened in that very series last year. I'm not sure what it is you've been watching, but if there weren't crashes, it wasn't racing.

Also, good luck finding an HP/PP rating higher than UNLIMITED.

My point was that it IS the host's job to regulate his or her lobby. Who else will or even can, for that matter? If you run open-class races, where the power differential is as great as 20:1, expect collisions. If that thought is an unappealing one, narrow the field via restrictions. The responsibility falls to the host.

Kicking handfulls of players because they can't get around your big yellow paperweight is not the way forward.

EDIT: The above is in no way an endorsement of crashing, wrecking or ramming by me, simply an acknowledgement that it DOES happen. When I play online, which is fairly often, I join and host exclusively "Clean Racing Only" rooms.

OP was pretty specific that he objected to people doing it DELIBERATELY. Seems he's aware that there is 'incidental contact' but mentioned being used as a piñata by the kids. Seems fair enough to me.

The difference I see is that, in ALMS, the prototype drivers don't say that the GT drivers shouldn't be on the track. They know they are there, and make all possible allowances for it (even though they don't work ALL the time).

BTW, I am also a big ALMS fan... I'll be at Sebring in a couple of weeks. You going?

You'll have to forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical as to the accuracy of the OP's account. I'd imagine it's a bit hard to tell the difference between an accident and a deliberate hit at 200mph.

No argument here. They are professionals, trained and paid to drive in a multi-class series. Your average online racing fanboy is not.

Afraid not. However, first round's on me at Laguna in September if you're still thirsty for more after Sebring. In fact, I'll be watching the Sebring round from a hotel room (possibly sports bar) in Monterey weekend-after-next, just wave to the camera so I know it's you.

EDIT: Manual quoting is neither for the faint of heart, nor the weak of thumb. Especially on smartphones.

As you can see, I'm from the Southeast... I usually can only make Sebring and Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta (both were awesome weather, last year) but, due to being endurances, they are my favorites anyway. I'd love to visit Laguna some time though!

We had about 124,000 in attendance at Petit LeMans last year... for a road race in America, that's pretty good!

BTW, Speed Channel had a couple of long shots of me watching the race at Sebring last year as they cut away to commercials. I was standing there in a pith helmet looking like a doofus. I laughed my ass off!

agreed, its sad, nowdays playing any game online 80% of players need a kick.. pity.....

My VW Bus must have a target painted on it somewhere too as whenever it comes out, it's a magnet for c*nts in Gayrons and the less said about the c*ck who ALWAYS shows up in the Tankcar the better!

TBH, it's why I like Shuffle Races, as messed up as they are...

No Tank Cars, no X1's, nobody hooning around in Veyrons, Samba's, Kubelwagons...

Usually, the better drivers get to the front and they are GONE, as long as Boost is off.

I've never faced much ramming.

Usually, a false start penalty will put the rammers really behind, add to that mechanical damage.

well I have my steering sensitivity at 7 so, your a n00b. Only joking I know waht you mean, when ever I start a looby I put on weight and power restrictions so all the veyroners, x1ers and fgters can't use them.
