That is seriously cool, dude. Nicely done! 👍

I have no idea why they picked my though. I didn't sign up for anything and my grades aren't over achieving

Its worth a high school credit so thats enough convincing for my parents. I'll find out more about it when I go to the local meeting on october 29th but so far its a hell yes

My daughter has been invited to several of those. I don't know your family situation, but it is horrendously expensive. Good luck!

Are you going to the east or west? Their website has two Japan trips, so I'm assuming one is Osaka/West and the other is Tokyo/East.

So your telling me that they don't pay for airline tickets, hotel rooms or food?

They invited me to Wales. Interesting. Too bad it wasn't Japan. I'm going this summer anyways. Whohoo. Tell me how it goes.

No. Not just no, but hell no. If they did, my daughter would have already been to Australia, China, and Switzerland.

One of my friends got invited to Japan; same deal. I really hope you can go. Damn I wish I could have an excuse to go there. Or live there.

Oh my god..:ouch: Whats the advantage of going with them instead of going on my own accord?

Everything is organised and you don't have those stresses, you can relax and have enjoy.

Well, I didnt get extra credit. I went to western europe and then to the UK and Ireland. It was expensive. They say it helps on transcripts.. with a 3.75 GPA and a 31 on the ACT, it didn't help me get into the University of Minnesota.

You'll have fun if you go, but the group leaders are sometimes the antichrist. You'll lauigh out loud for hours on end if the group leaders get themselves lost. Because they smite people that get lost, but you're not allowed to bring it up with them.

I sat with the guy I was rooming with that night and someone else on the floor of the hallway in the hotel in Eastern Austria, and the group leaders found out about it the next day, and acted like we had violated all ten of the commandments. She called my Dad, and made me talk to him, hoping he would discipline me. I was the least of their worries..

Dad: "Wow.. that lady is weird."
Me: yeah..
Dad: "Just have fun, but you need to sound upset that I'm talking to you."
Me: "Okay, Dad..."

Rules:
Do not EVER open your door
Do not EVER light a complimentary match in a bathroom in case your roommate lets out a massive fart.
Do not EVER question the group leader.

Basically, one girl was on the verge of tears because of the treatment she got from these two. Her mom called the regional representative guy, and he said "Your daughter is clearly lying ma'am." Another parent gives him the same call, he says the same response. He calls other parents, and my Dad gets a call "No, ____. You're wrong. I write your region's insurance, and I am not happy with the quality of those two. The guy, Ron, was the only one of your employees who wasn't worthless."
It took the parents of 21 of the 23 kids on the trip to convince the guy that Dorothy and Patty were worthless.

But it's okay. The group leaders the second time around were awesome. So were the people on the trip.

Here's a warning: It's seven thousand (or more now) dollars, and you'll have to deal with at least one incredibly snotty girl who will have it out for you the whole trip.

But Congrats.

A leader can make or break a trip. I hope you get a good one.

What Duke said. I've been invited to the congressional student leadership conference (similar kind of thing) 3 times, but I never went because you have to pay with a capital P.

You have to get invited? They came to my high school and just flat out asked anyone with a 3.5 GPA or higher to go. I was "invited" to go to Australia and I think when I worked it all out it was going to be near $20,000. My parents told me they would pay for it but I couldn't in good faith do it for that sort of money. I'm sure it looks good on a college application but I would save the money, wait till you're in school, and do a study abroad somewhere. It will be less expensive and just as rewarding.

You can replace Summer with any one of the seasons if you want an accurate representation of our "summer".

I was invited to go last year, to China. Something like $15,000. My parents said I would never get another Christmas present again if I ended up going.
We went to Florida instead.
