thanks to "budious" for the link.

So reports already coming in that game sales for PS3 are down drastically and that in some cases consumers are showing up to pawn off their entire PS3 console and game collections for a X360 And people aren't complaining about the live charges anymore. Not looking good for Sony.

yea the psn situation is messed up but i wouldn't trade my ps3 for an xbox. i had 2 and they were **** so i sold them. even if psn shut down for good, it's still a superior console imo.

Ive had a abox360 before the ps3 and only reason i sold my xbox was to move islands and pay for the plane fare, to be honest i like the xbox360 better but only reason i brought a ps3 was for the free online play

Trading in a system due to not being able to play online is....questionable.

It's as if the media/gamers have completely forgotten the issues MS have/had, oh well, it is what it is.

Whether online or offline I'll enjoy my systems and my games.

Two things, Lost-on-drugz.

1) Your link wasn't working so I've fixed it for you.
B) Yev was right - this is in no way related to GT5 so I've moved it accordingly. In the future, please have a look around GTPlanet. There's a lot more here than just Gran Turismo. 👍

What would they prefer? That Sony put PSN back up online and compromise the personal details of seven million people again just so that they can play video games?

Some people are taking this way too seriously.

To be expected and not that big of a deal at the same time. To be expected because there are a lot of kids and young adults that are absolutely addicted to MW2 &/or BO. So I can understand where those types would throw in the towel after being separate from their fix for 2-3 weeks.

IF Sony does this right and takes full advantage of being able to completely rebuild their network from scratch, this could be a net benefit come the eventual PS4/720 battle. That's a big if though. I'm sure MS is definitely quite happy at their fortune while at the same time just a jealous that Sony gets to rebuild from scratch.

their lose. PS3 is the superior system. look at LA Noire, 3 discs on xbox. Dev teams are no longer limiting their game to match xbox specs

Really? Three discs? And everyone said that Blu Ray was a waste! Anyway the "Duty-Heads", like crack addicts, are going to get their fix by any means necessary. So I wouldn't worry about them too much.

Seriously, why would you trade a console just because it doesn't have online play? The PS3 has a lot more features rather than just that. I guess people relied on online too much...

Regarding the PSN issue, I wouldn't trade my ps3 for an xbox because of being able to play blu-rays and GT5 :) . I've always told myself I wanted to get an xbox because of forza but i'm always having fun with GT. People keep saying MS has a lot of issues but no one backs up that. Can someone please tell me these issues? Every company that messes up(especially with customer personal info), deserves to get blasted.

The problem(s) were that many XBox 360s were crapping out within the warranty period. In the gaming media it was called the "Red Ring of Death". It reached the point where Microsoft finally had to extend the warranty period to three years for existing consoles in the field. Unfortunately many owners actually believed that Microsoft was doing this to be swell guys, and not to avoid a recall (my own interjection).

There's many other news pieces, but you can see one of them here;

And now according to the BBC, the Kinect might be causing older units to fail;

In reply to V8GTdriver:
December 2007, Xbox Live had many issues for a period of time over Christmas. I don't believe it went down entirely but was all over the place over the place for about 2 weeks, MS blamed it on a sudden influx of consumers getting on XBL and not being able to handle the amount of customers.

Just like that issue, a month or so back online, provided no more attacks, people will have moved on and the press forgotten about the PSN downtime.

Mate i agree im not trading my ps3 in either. i had just posted this up due to the fact to get other peoples insight into this , as people are doing this so sony must be at a loss every week thier systems arent up, and i agree illd rather have it all fixed instead of being able to play then have it done again!

And thank you i wasnt watchin wat thread i was in had afew open!

Anyone would think that with no internet you couldn't play. People need to learn to buy new games every now and again and play through campaigns or offline modes. I bought myself a copy of BLOPS so I had something new while the PSN is still down (was hopingit would be up this W/E).

I love my PS3 as I use it to watch BR movies, Go MS for backing HD-DVD :p

P.S - Yes I am annoyed PSN has been down as long as it has, not enough to trade in though.

Hmmm... Time to get a couple of second hand PS3s for that 3 screen setup?...

I have a friend who bought a xbox a few days ago and I was very suprised to se that cod black ops locked better on xbox, not much better graphic but much better flow in the graphic.

I don't know why this news would surprise anyone at all. This day and age in gaming, it's all about the multiplayer. Of course the people that play online only will want their fix. If the psn is still down this coming Wednesday, then it will have been a month since we last played online. That's insane.

Because with PSN down, they can't download the Patches needed to make the game playable since publishers don't make a solid game when they go to gold anymore.

I can definatly see how a lot of people would be alienated by what's going on with Sony and the PSN, I bought my PS3 specificaly for GT5 and Metal Gear Solid so I see no reson to get rid of it, but sombody who mostly just plays the popular game of the hour which is usualy just an X-box 360 port anyways, I can see the reasoning behind a trade in. Especialy given that Sony is going to use this debacle to start charging for PSN I'm sure.

I don't even own a ps3, but I don't think I would be that bummed out about the outage to be honest.

I've always preferred single player, or local (as in on the same console) multiplayer, over online. The only game I ever really liked playing online was Modern Warfare.

I haven't had a gold subscription to live for over a year now, and I rarely even have my ethernet cord hooked up to the system. I guess I'm in the minority of people who still prefer single player gaming and a good campaign.

There was actually a mass of complaints from UK PS3 Black Ops owners to trading standards about being sold a sub standard product because the PS3 version looked slightly worse and was far more buggy. You would think that the 'we can't dev for PS3' era is over but some 3rd parties still seem to have trouble or rather prioritize the 360 version. I remember quite a few trades went on back when it happened.

Anyway, as for PSN it seems some people (probably causal gamers) don't even want to play single player anymore, people will buy a game and go straight into multiplayer from the off. No wonder single campaign stories and play time have been getting worse over the years.

👍 I too am a part of that dying minority.

I also love single player and campaign modes. I find a good story with good gameplay mixed in gives me a much more rewarding experience however its hard to find games like that anymore.

As for the PSN, I'm sticking with my ps3. I had an xbox and gave it to my nephew because i was fed up of it freezing on me every time I played a game plus it seemed to me that the xbox was more geared towards the teen market at the time.

Downloaded the 1.07 patch for BLOPS today with the PSN offline.

It would appear that it may well be only the PS3 exclusive releases that totally rely on the PSN for patch delivery ;)

We can safely blame BF1942 for that. Up until it's release on PC back in the day, FPS came with good (if not fantastic) SP/offline campaigns. The original MoH campaign (for example) was fantastic. BF1942 came along and it, with its MP focus, seemed to kill SP campaign development.
