It would appear that it may well be only the PS3 exclusive releases that totally rely on the PSN for patch delivery ;)
Indeed. Downloaded several game updates in the past few weeks. Got Shift 2 yesterday and downloaded patch 1.0.2 without a problem.

I've always preferred single player, or local (as in on the same console) multiplayer, over online. The only game I ever really liked playing online was Modern Warfare.

I haven't had a gold subscription to live for over a year now, and I rarely even have my ethernet cord hooked up to the system. I guess I'm in the minority of people who still prefer single player gaming and a good campaign.

I do as well. Online is nice, but I defenitely can live without it, as long as the offline is good.

I hope all these people trading for xbox are all the newbs/a$#holes that kill their own team and drive the wrong way. xbox can have those %#%^$#$%^ people

thanks to "budious" for the link.

So reports already coming in that game sales for PS3 are down drastically and that in some cases consumers are showing up to pawn off their entire PS3 console and game collections for a X360 And people aren't complaining about the live charges anymore. Not looking good for Sony.
I wouldn't buy into sensationalism over the trade-ins to be honest. If a game store has one PS3 trade in a week, and the next week three people trade in PS3s, you can call that "WARNING, PS3 TRADE-INS UP 300%. IS SONY GOING DOWN?"

Everyone is different, The only game I ever play offline is GT5. I know this will seem strange to most people here but thats what I like.

I am a huge online COD addict and have put a stupid amount of game time on MW2, I never liked Black Ops because of the lag, also the graphics seemed like a step back to COD world at war, so I hardly ever played it.

I went round a friends house last week to get my online COD fix and was surprised when I played Black Ops on an Xbox 360, the graphics and game play are almost identical to MW2 on the PS3, and it hurts me to say this but online gaming seems a lot better on Xbox :grumpy:

The fact PSN has been down for so long has ment I miss playing COD, and the only reason I have not followed my friends and turned to Xbox is because I just HATE the Xbox controller. Hurry up Sony please sort PSN out, dont make me go and buy an Xbox :ouch:

(feel free to abuse me for praising Xbox online gaming, I can take it)

I say adios, don't let the door hit you on the way out. I am keeping my PS3. The only thing that will cause me to get rid of my PS3 is a PS4. Hopefully with the millions of people dumping their PS3's, there will be less of a burden on PSN servers, and will result in smoother, faster gameplay.

Fair Trader I agree with you (I own both consoles). The online is better and I have noticed faster while downloading updates or demos.

Don't believe the hype: PS3 users aren't switching to Xbox 360: http://www.betanews.com/joewilcox/a...-users-arent-switching-to-Xbox-360/1305314210

Interesting article.
With the '77 million' subscribers; what are they counting it on? I don't exactly know how many PS3 have been shipped since it was released, but I am sure it isn't over 77 million (I think it is in the realm of 50 million units). Of the 110,000 accounts abandoned, I can safely guess that alot of them are multiple accounts on a single PS3 system. Simply stated, 110,000 accounts doesn't equate to 110,000 units traded in 👍

Another example is World of Warcraft. They consistently state they have over 12 million subscribers. Of that 12 million, I bet there is a good (aka large) portion of the accounts that are no longer active, but alas that info is never provided.

Sort of puts it into perspective :)

👍

I still prefer single-player over multiplayer. I think multiplayer gets repetitive after a few hours and single-player still feels fresh, like you feel like your doing many different things to do. I do however like a few multiplayer games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3: Arena but thats because i like old-school FPS more than most of the new-school FPS that's coming out these days.

It made me laugh yesterday, but I've been wandering about getting a 360 again just for Forza 3 and 4 plus some others maybe too and the guy in Game (UK Games Store) was giving my partner and I the hard sell and one of the first questions was it because of the PSN problems. I told him flatly that I wouldn't get rid of my PS3.

It's sad to see such knee-jerk reactions to a situation that is at most a mild inconvenience for those worst effected. This is all my own opinion of course.

And I heard some people traded in their ps3 to 360 for other reasons than online. And then I heard some traded in 360 for ps3 systems for various reasons.

Quick, let's make headlines about that! :dunce:

Well this seems good news to me. Less hysteric kids on the PSN.
Right you are.
