I've always wondered after I did a hot lap in the seasonal events: how did I do compared to everyone else playing it? With there not being a way to scroll down to the end of the timesheet (without it taking a lifetime), would it be ideal to have a small feature that shows the percentile compared to others?

I like the idea.

I am currently in 1466th place(Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy). And it might be very good. If there are 1,000,000 other participants. But it's so good if there are only 2,000 participants. If we had known how many participants there are, then we would have had more insight.

What is @Furinkazen doing at the bottom of the list? Is he running the entire track in reverse...

Edit: It is not possible, it will be dead lap if you drive in revers

Your ranking in the Seasonal TT's is not a very good measure of your skill set as compared to the rest of the world by any means. If you are relying on your ranking as a true measure of your skill set as compared to everyone else, you are only fooling yourself. I say this for two main reasons.

1) Not everyone participates in these.
2) Those that do participate, not everyone of them gives it their full and honest effort. Some, even some of the aliens, just get Gold and done.

If you want a true measure of how you rank among the people of GT, do the Academy TT's that are going on right now. The Academy seems to bring out just about everyone and most everyone is giving it their best effort just because its the Academy and it brings with it a lot more attention. The final event should be even a better measure of your skill set as compared to everyone else. I have experienced this myself so I know it to be true. Alot of people praising me and giving me kudos for being such a great driver, which btw I do truly appreciate, and I always have to tell them that I'm not that great at all....matter of fact I would rate myself well below average if you realistically look at the big picture. My example is this:

Average Seasonal TT finish: 50-100th place
Average Academy finish: 4,000 - 5000th place.

As you can see in looking at the "big picture", I'm not that great at all, well below average. Sure, the Seasonal TT's are a great way to have fun and compete with your friends and I have fun doing them myself, but don't rely on them as a true measure of your skill set, its a false positive.

It would be nice if the 'SELECT' button had three steps instead of just the two that allow you to switch between your position and the #1 spot, the third step should take you to the bottom of the list.

Yeah, being able to scroll down to the end of the list in one click would be handy, and just as effective; by using simple a maths calculation to find out your ranking.

I suppose TTs aren't a good barometer for the actual skill of a driver, but it's always nice to be able to see how a certain lap was, in a certain car, compared to the other GT players. As you pointed out CargoRatt, GT academy will be more accurate for a driver's racecraft.

You can blow off a ranking by deliberately going very slow, seeing how far down the list you end up. Then normal speed for usual ranking. Wait a week of two after the TT is first posted to do this.

Yes, Forza has had this for years.
Yes Forza shows you your ranking, total number of times posted and your % ranking on all of their boards.
Would be nice to have this in GT but not just for these super laps events we need it for all tracks and we need to be able to run whatever car we want and we need to be able to tune it as well.

I had been thinking for a couple of weeks that I think this percentile would be a better way of assigning gold / silver / bronze trophies. So you set a time, but only top 10% get gold and so on. It means you wouldn't just set your lap time as soon as the event was available and leave it, but would instead be coming back to check your time was still fast enough for award you were after.

If you're collecting the data anyway, why not bother putting it to use in a pleasant for your playerbase way? So much interesting information they could be displaying to increase the competitive aspect of seasonals, I can never tell what they're thinking.

once did an unintentional very slow first lap in tt and i recall i placed somewhere around 40,000 to 50,000. I think it was still GT5 and all, but that gives you a clue.. Im usually satisfied with a result around 1000th unless i just take the gold and leave. being around 1000th usually for me takes maybe 10-20 tries with a decent tune. The TTs are alot about the tuning so i only tend to check the standings in the TTs with given car - dont have time to tune that much. One should also try the online rooms with a carlist. When everyone has the same car its not so much of a vehicle contest and more of a drivers contest. 👍

I liked the way forza gives you the names and times of the player above you on the leaderboard. (if i recall right - had just a short test with forza)

Then again - GT6 still doesnt even give you the split times +1/-1 position in a race. that should be a given.. :indiff:

Some of the 2012 GT5 TT I think had totals in the ~200,000 - that could be a few folks using double or triple log ins but still used to be more popular than now. Will have to wait until next set to try that again but I would guess 50-70,000 TT ranks.

Rayman Legends had a system like that, it was pretty fun.

Actually 60-80K was most common later in the game before GT6 dropped, but the earlier TT's had 100K+. Just click on any TT and the total is right there:

Ok, Pagani TT did a 2:06 stopping before the finish and ranked 76,000 ish. A 1:52.997 just bronze gave a 39,000 ranking.

Wait, so there are at least several thousand people who participate in the TT's, but just... can't get bronze? Some of those bronze times are set low enough that I'm genuinely surprised that someone who was trying could complete a valid lap that isn't good enough for a medal.

I agree, there definitely needs to be something done so I can see where I rank in my country and between wheel users and ds3 users, I'm seven hundredth and change right now on Bathurst on a ds3 but I bet I'm like top one hundred in the world and probably like top 50 in the United States on a ds3. I mean we could do it ourselves but boy that would take a while.

The only way to know how many people participated in an event is doing a super-slow lap, I set a lap in 6 minutes in Streets of Willow event with the Capuccino and there was like ~38000 participants, only 4-5 players did a lap over that 6 minutes.

Yes, I was very bored.
