It was a good shot: Point of view looking straight down, Kong falling away directly below.

None of the three movies showed him impacting the ground. Why? Because in all of them the director assumed that the audience wouldn't want to see it. By the end of the movie we were sympathetic enough with the big guy that we didn't want to see that bit of gory detail.
 
I can understand why, i was just saying that like every other film made we dont see them land, which is annoying.

How is "thud" tasteless?? its mearly the noise a giant monkey would make hitting the ground.

And anyway on 1 version of Kong you do see him land................ on the simpsons spoof :sly:
