Yes, I'm down with that. Kaz can't possibly guarantee that all the PS3's won't breakdown and whatnot. I need the insurance.

It was most likely put in to stop people from going online and downloading a 100% save, hacked with millions of dollars, and everything, and not enjoying the game fairly.

But, there's always a chance of PS3's breaking down. So maybe it's best to not copy protect them then...

EDIT: I don't think the mods really like Petitions much, so this may be locked.

First, and probly only Petition i'll agree has a proper purpose. With something as big and meaningfull as a savegame, that can take you up to years of gathering, just to have it all taken away, to start over, is ridicilus. Need to be able to have a backup somewhere.

I guess they have it in so people can't just wait for a 100% save and have it download. After all, unlike memory cards, this is quite easy, and was seen alot on GT5:P. Either way, well worth it.

I don't like this idea since it means there would be no point putting in effort into gt mode.

You just download a 100% save with a gazillion dollars and all the cars. The game is now ruined both offline and online.

What NEEDs to happen however, is the save should also be uploaded to an online server thats linked to your psn account whenever you are online and synced with your offline one. That way whenever you log into your account on any playstation thats what you get.

Or perhaps all the games to be saved but have them linked to your PSN ID and thus non-transferable. Surely they can get that to work?

They could lock it to a particular PSN ID, and sorry to the mods, but I just thought this was worth while.

I don't care how PD/Sony create a backup, but we need some sort of system.

How? It's certainly not ruined from where I'm sitting. Fighting my way through the game to get the ACR after having enough money to buy six of them is not fun at all. GT5 is overall pretty good. But it suffers from some very, very careless mistakes.

Anyway, I'm 2000% behind removing this useless limitation.

Its ruined because you are wasting your time playing through the game when you have the easy option to achieve what you want within minutes.

Not to mention when you go online and select garage only again, people have limitless supplies. It just makes the game unfair and way easier, and if you don't take the 100% save you are putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Look at prolgue, I had the option to get 100% save but I kept on playing it with my own save and buying all the cars.

I thought the saves would be transferable to gt5 like they said but thinking the copied 100% saves would be somehow identified and banned from gt5 import.
Probably the reason is because there was no copy protection everything was banned, people that worked hard like me thinking they would get something out of it got burned. I didn't even want to play gt5p, I did it for gt5.

I still don't follow. You either want to go take your time unlocking stuff, or you don't. Currently, only the unlockers are happy. If things were my way, everyone could choose what they wanted to do.

I made 1,000,000 credits in less than 10 hours. How long was the garage only option supposed to last? What happens when the majority of players get somewhere in the game? People seem to think that somehow, limiting the transferring of cars will ensure fair races. It doesn't. The only way to have fair races is fair race restriction. It's already pretty bad that PP points are gone from the game. They should be considered necessary.

Yeah, I'm familiar with GT5P. I worked my way through it too. Didn't add an ounce of fun. I would have preferred starting with everything and going right online. It wouldn't have negatively impacted anyone if I did do that.

Who said you'd get something from your work? Who said copying is why GT5P to GT5 transfer is not enabled? The reason it's not enabled is PD. They made an unwise decision.

I agree 👍 ... remove it ..

i want to be free to manage my save ..and secure it in my
PC
after every improvement of 10% (as in GT3, GT4 , gt5p) ..

and restore it every time i want and in each PROFILE of my PS3 ..

They should let you back up your saved data but only your PSN ID can use it no one else.

If people choose to download a spoiling save-file, so be it. The point of the game is to enjoy it, and if people enjoy ruining it for themselves, so be it.

I agree with this thread.

I love the fact its in because it means that people wont be able to simply download a 100% savegame and essentially cheat the system. The point about backups is irrelevant because if my PS3 (old 60gig but with a 500GB hard drive in it) ever YLODs I'll just get a new slimline and slap my 500GB hard drive in it and carry all playing. that would work right?

I agree that there needs to be a system to back up save data, i was at level yesterday and went to compare trophies with one of my friends while loading a race, then all of a sudden my ps3 freezes. go to restart it and my save file was corrupted and i had to start all over. it is completely unreasonable for sony not to allow you to copy your save file to atleast another user on the same system just in case, and that was on just the SECOND DAY that the game was out

Agreed. My PS3 has been going un-strong for 3 years and I fully expect it to YLOD by the end of the year. If the save is gone, I'm probably going to kill someone. And then I'll blame it on PD for not letting me back up my save. Comprende? Good.

👍

No, as a recent YLOD victim I know all too much the fustration of this.

The only way to get your data to a new system is through the data transfer option in the XMB.

If you try to swap HDDs from one system to another, the PS3 will start up and immediately recognize a new drive and format it, erasing everything.

And what am supposed to do about having my PS3 YLOD which forced me to start GT5 on someone else's PS3, where my save file will reamin forever?

I guess I'll have the joy of playing through the beginning of the game again for no reason.

I agree 100%. I drove almost 2 hours north to a friends house who has an HDTV, 5.1 speakers and a g27 (everything that i dont have).
I took nfs shift, dirt 2 and gt5. When I got there Dirt 2 and nfs shift didn't have multiplayer so that was a major bummer. Put gt5 in because at least they were smart enough to include multiplayer... and then it would let me load my save game!!

All racing games need to have multiplayer and non copyprotected game saves! My dreamcast has 4 player and non copyprotected game saves. My Ps2 has 2 player and non copyprotected game saves. When friends come over I have to play an older system because they have those features?:ouch:

Other than my ranting, this game has tons of features and I am totally blown away by it. Just hope I don't have a YLOD or something that could wipe out my GT5 save:nervous:

I'm all for the lock but not to the PS3 itself. I hope they figure out how to lock it to the PSN account instead.

Agreed. I never understood why some people are so worried on how others play the game offline, where it has absoutely no affect on anyone else.

Anyway, I support this thread 100%. I have a strong feeling I'm going to enjoy this game for a very, very long time and I don't want to lose all of my progress.

I don't like the idea of people getting everything I would get by playing the game for a year straight in just a few minutes.
If a gt5 save came out and everyone was using it i would have to get it too because i don't want to spend ages getting the stuff if everyone else doesn't. I guess either you understand or you dont....

lol that is crazy. How did you do that? I'm on lvl 10 getting all golds and am always on zero cr, and Ive only tuned my start car... Its painstaking getting money for me. I just want to race and tune cars.
Buy me a 100,000cr car and gift it if you have the money. :D

The official sony website said....
And you have to ask yourself why pd did not enable it.

I agree with this thread.

My thoughts exactly. And it bears repeating:

If people enjoy ruining it for themselves, so be it.

Reason for the copy protection is trophies, if people could download saves they could cheat to boost their score and level. Been like this on all games since 2008.
