It was most likely put in to stop people from going online and downloading a 100% save, hacked with millions of dollars, and everything, and not enjoying the game fairly.
I guess they have it in so people can't just wait for a 100% save and have it download. After all, unlike memory cards, this is quite easy, and was seen alot on GT5:P. Either way, well worth it.

I don't like this idea since it means there would be no point putting in effort into gt mode.

You just download a 100% save with a gazillion dollars and all the cars. The game is now ruined both offline and online.

How? It's certainly not ruined from where I'm sitting. Fighting my way through the game to get the ACR after having enough money to buy six of them is not fun at all. GT5 is overall pretty good. But it suffers from some very, very careless mistakes.

Anyway, I'm 2000% behind removing this useless limitation.

Its ruined because you are wasting your time playing through the game when you have the easy option to achieve what you want within minutes.

Not to mention when you go online and select garage only again, people have limitless supplies. It just makes the game unfair and way easier, and if you don't take the 100% save you are putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Look at prolgue, I had the option to get 100% save but I kept on playing it with my own save and buying all the cars.

I thought the saves would be transferable to gt5 like they said but thinking the copied 100% saves would be somehow identified and banned from gt5 import.
Probably the reason is because there was no copy protection everything was banned, people that worked hard like me thinking they would get something out of it got burned. I didn't even want to play gt5p, I did it for gt5.

I love the fact its in because it means that people wont be able to simply download a 100% savegame and essentially cheat the system. The point about backups is irrelevant because if my PS3 (old 60gig but with a 500GB hard drive in it) ever YLODs I'll just get a new slimline and slap my 500GB hard drive in it and carry all playing. that would work right?
To begin with, if you don't think I should have an opinion on this because I don't yet own GT5 then stop reading now.

This is where gamers and casual users differ. I'm a very casual gamer. Infact I probably haven't played a game solo in 9 months, and was only playing MW2 storyline before that.

Now I like the idea of games rewarding you for playing and achieving. A new character that doesn't do much different to the previous, a gun that gives you the slight edge on your mates. But I play(ed) GT games to drive cars.

Now why, why should I pay £40 and not be able to instantly access the majority of cars available on the game instantly and do whatever I like with them!? Why should I pay £40 and many, many valuable hours of my time just to get X car, do Y tuning to it, at Z track and race A,B,C,D,E etc!?

And yes, I have a 100% Billion credit GT4 game for just that reason.

My GT5 save file has already been corrupted once. Therefore I hope they remove the Copy Protection so I can save my save file to an external HDD if if happens again. Can't they just lock the save to your PSN-ID?

Signed.

I need to backup the gamesave! What if my PS3 breaks and all of my hard work in GT5 is gone? That'd be horrendous!

It would be better for them to have a system similar to MMORPGS, your save file is not only stored locally but is uploaded as well. If the game integrates online function into single player then they should have an upload option for back-ups only. That way you can access your game from any PS3 by logging in with your user ID.

No, won't work.

My old 60GB broke (didn't backup anything), and took the HDD out. Got a new PS3 and put the HDD back in, switched it on and it asked me to format it... There's no way round it.

Yes please remove it It'll help anyone Who gets corrupted save files
then we can copy saves to the keyfob usb we got (se only) after we quit playing for the day

They should allow game saves to be copied.

Apart from the issues such as downloadable content (where you have to pay money) it's the game owners prerogative if they want to get the 100% game save and ruin the game within a week of having it or not.

They should just allow you to copy your savegame to any user on your own PS3, not anybody elses just like how the HDD data is encrypted.

Guys, this should join on to my thread, there's a poll and everything and then there will be less clutter and more votes and hopefully PD read it :).

with me recently reading about a bunch of launch ps3 yrod, id like to make a back up of my save.

although i did open the ps3 and cleaned the cpu/gpu and applied some IC diamond thermal paste, id still like to back up the save juuuuuuuuuust in case!

I have had YLOD before and I didn't back up my saves and lost years of them. Now I do it religiously and I am bummed that GT5 is locked. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

Definately agree with removing the copy protection. I seriously don't care if people want to ruin the game experience for themselves by downloading a 100%, but I would be plenty happy having it tied to my PSN.

I just signed up to agree with this issue. I have had (2) PS3s die on me. If I lose this one, and my GT5 save, there won't be a six because PD and I will be having violent words.

I would like an option to have automatic backup of save game to USB. And it still could be protected so that it only works in my PS3.

I had 300+ hours on my Monster Hunter 3 save on the Wii, and those are bound to the console too. Then, my Wii blew up, and I cried like a schoolgirl.

There are two ways:

Make a backup to an external drive via backup utility. But, this backup will only work on the exact same PS3! Not another one.

Make a transfer to another PS3 via transfer utility. But, if you transfer the data, everything will be erased on the source PS3. The transfer can only be made via CAT5. So you have to have two PS3 to do that.

Has this been confirmed to work for transferring the GT5 save as well?

If you got the YLOD, your still able to take out your harddisk and put it in another PS3 as long as it has the same firmware update, or i'm wrong here?

From what I have been reading, copy protected saves are linked to the PS3's serial number, so it won't work that way.

Totally agreed. Remove the copy protection!

If PD really want to protect the saves from being copied to other users, I bet it's possible to assign it to one user only, instead of locking the saves completely. I'm pretty sure it has been done.

I really hate when games do things like this. Worst case has got to be Rock Band though - where you have to pay for downloaded songs again.

Why can't it follow a PSN ID? Or at least give me the option to opt out of trophy's.
