YEAH It's so important that the savefile isn't copyprotected!
I experienced that with Need for speed shift. During the entire game they say things like "work your way up to the masters league where the real racing takes place" Well I was almost there and then my blu ray player stopped working. I tried everything even calling to EA's customar support in the usa because I was so angry. I had spent a long time painting my cars. Customer support only made me more angry of course because I had to explain everything to them since they only know how to pick up the phone after 10 minutes.
Anyway, I tried everything, making a backup, swapping the hd with my other ps3, asking the repair centre not to erase the hd but I still lost my progress. So I thought: I'll never play this game again. After some time though, since there werent any other good racing games, I hastely raced to get enough credits to get the cars to play online. The single player was totally ruined for me so I didnt care about that anymore. Then the PS3 dies again!! After that I never touched the game again.
It would be a sad thing if that happens with the game I bought the ps3 for.

I always back up important saves from my PS3. I really want to be able to do the same with GT5. Over Christmas I'd like to take my save with me back home too, without taking my PS3.

Signed.

A story should be put on the front page showing the unanimous support for scrapping copy protected game saves.

Absolutely. Maybe Jordan or the other mods can get this in motion? I think its a perfectly reasonable request given the track-record of PS3's hardware failures. This is a game that requires players to invest a sizable amount of time into it, and to have all that time and effort wiped out can be... well, devastating for some. Its not like GT5's "campaign" can be finished in 8-10 hours. They call it GT-Life and that's exactly how we're treating it. All we ask for is a little insurance.

Another reason it would be nice if we could backup/copy our saves is because if you guys remember GT5P we had to register a separate account for the GTP tourneys and it would be a hassle to have to work your way aroundtwo separate accounts, I don't know if now that we have the private rooms we will be racing with our normal accounts or not but either way it would be nice to have both accounts ready for some nice online racing.

I'd certainly like Jordan (or anyone else who has contact with Sony) to use what avenues of communication they have to highlight the importance of this issue and try to get it resolved.

Y'know I wouldn't even care if it wasn't PSN ID-locked either. They can still set it up to work over multiple IDs but disable trophies on all but the original. If some kid wants to download a save with everything unlocked, let him, at least he can't claim credit with a platinum.

But yeah, I wouldn't do that anyway so personally either way works fine for me.

I will only agree if they can somehow get it to only work for 1 PSN name

I don't want universal access to a 100% game save, that would ruin online imo

Im in i like to back-up everything.. and agree with MmmmBeeeer :D

No offense to all who want this. But wont this just make a bigger problem like Forza 2 had. Where you could take your save file, copy it. Then sell off those cars to yourself sort of.

If this happens then you can just copy your save and send all your cars to your buddys, over and over again.

I NEED this bad.I am using my nephews PS3 because mine is broken.I don't want to lose all my game saves when i get my new PS3 and have to give his back,:nervous:

That's a problem how? Does other people getting free cars in a computer game somehow cause your house to burst into flames?

Besides, Turn 10 actually managed to fix the problem (sort of). If you do it too often the amount of money you get for the car drastically decreases to stop you selling them all off.

100% agree with this and signing, lets make some noise! it makes me disappointed when i see posts like this on the ps eu blogs.

EmpireNO says: I’m in tears, after playing GT5 6-7 hours straight today I started playing online and of course GT5 freezes, after 20+ minutes I just have to turn of my PS3. After I boot it up and start GT5 again the save file is gone, all my hard work and playtime of 15-16 hours total is gone!!

I’m crying blood.

whos to blame for their stubbornness? they have only themselves to blame, no one else, there was warnings but people buy the game anyway, why go through all the pain and heartache?

people say i am mad for cancelling my preorder but i know i did the right thing and i hope other people who have sense will sell their game and do the right thing aswell, but unfortunately being a gran turismo forum and all there will always be people who will take pride first before logic and buy the game anyway, what else can you do but tut and shake your head in shame...

Yeah, you are mad. This is certainly a problem, but GT5 is amazing and we're all having a great time playing it.
