Not trying to be silly but I have a bad feeling we're not going to get a patch in December. There's so much to patch up I bet it won't be until Jan-Feb. :ouch:

I'm really starting to worry about my PS3, I got it first day, and it still works, though I feel it won't for much longer, I stay up al night and fake sick to be off school to play this.

I'm planning to get a Slim PS3, but I can't knowing my data won't copy..

Keep current PS3 - YLOD

Get a new PS3 - No GT5

yeah unfortunately that is the problem with copy protection save files, i had the same dilemma with bayonetta but i just gave in and brought a slim anyway, my old 80gb was going to die sooner or later, i sold bayonetta too as i wasn't going to go through all the athiem portals again lol

i have a feeling it will be delayed but i don't think we won't get the patch completely, but still my signature edition is unopened in my cupboard if no progress is made it goes back to the shop!

Me and a mate who both like getting trophies were chatting about time taken to Plat this game and agreed that it would be around the 1000 hour mark (approx 3hrs per day for 12 months). That fact alone means you should be able to back up your save file, it's a no-brainer. How a game with the longevity of GT5 can deliberately block you from backing up your save data is beyond me!

exactly, 1000 hours is a very long time and because i have other games to play i would be putting even less into the game so it would be even more!

I play other games as well and sometimes don't get chance to play games at all so I can see myself playing GT5 for the next 3 years on and off! I know PS3s are far more reliable than 360s but I wouldn't like to put money on mine still being alive in 3 years time. This game simply has to have some way of backing up save files.

You can back-up copy-protected game saves, people; use the PS3’s back-up utility to back-up the entire PS3—this will include even copy-protected saves.

But the fact is, I would like copy-protection lifted. I want- to download these save files with loads of cash. I don’t play Gran Turismo to unlock cars and make my way up; I play to drive the cars, whatever that car may be at any time. If I wanted to work my way up better cars, well, heck, I’m already doing that—I don’t need it again in a video game.

I GameSharked GT4 for max. cash any I loved it. Eventually, I did start a new game just to get the climbing experience because I GameSharked all events and licenses, which I regretted (but not the cash; alas, GT4 didn’t have much of an issue if you wanted loads of cash, so I didn’t have too much of a problem, but I enjoyed having two saves).

^ I t only works on the same ps3, it's locked to that console. The patch is coming though guys...let's hope sooner than later.

What NEEDs to happen however, is the save should also be uploaded to an online server thats linked to your psn account whenever you are online and synced with your offline one. That way whenever you log into your account on any playstation thats what you get.

I was about to suggest this.

There has to be some way to create a backup. I believe FFXIII allowed the transfer of saved games but did not allow the game to be saved unless the PS3 user account was linked to the same PSN id (By means of a PSN id with saved password on the console).

I hope "the patch" comes soon....I need a bigger hard drive but have to wait now because I don't want to start all over again... I just hope the YLOD doesn't come knocking :nervous: before this issue is fixed.

Signed, seems mad that there's no solution. No way I want to get to level 30+ and then lose everything because of a yellow light. It's a big game...

i love the fact that i have 4 PS3s in my house yet i have to have a new game of gt5 on each, yeah thats just awesome!

if i want to play in my loungeroom i have to switch my ps3 from my computer room over as thats where my main stuff is, either that or i have 4 different games going at once.

not the mention the fact that if i get a corrupt save for whatever reason on my main its gone forever.

screw you sony, i've spent my money on your products you have no right to copy protect a save file.
