Peugeot 905 LM

The rev dial thing shows that it revs up to 18k, but it has a rev limiter at 12k (i think), is there any history or signifcance to why there it has such a weird set up. Also why is the rev limited so beyond redline in the 2D?

And why is the Peugeot 905 uncontrollably unstable on bumpy surfaces at over 200 MPH? And why do gear shifts take so long it seems like horrendous turbo lag? And why are ace B-Spec pilots (like mine), who can continuously make perfect laps in virtually all LM cars at the "4" speed setting, unable to keep the Peugeot on the road at anything above "3" (Steady)?

So, the short version: Why did PD choose to bork this double Le Mans winner?

It was an amazing car in real life, winning Le Mans twice in Ev1 and Ev2 form and used an engine similar to todays F1 cars (normally aspirated V10) which makes me wonder why it isn't a very good car in the game. I think that possibly PD simply put this car and the Jaguar XJR9 in the game after the Japanese release, and with the limited time available didn't make the car up to the usual standard. I've heard people complaining about the XJR9 as well, a shame since this is another great Le Mans winner.

I don't care about how PD did it, just think about it:

Many people say:
-Hey!The Sauber should be better because it won Le Mans
-No! The Toyota GT-one should be good because it nearly won Le Mans
-Get lost! The BMW V12 LMR is the best, it won Le Mans in 1999
-and so on.....

I would do the same if I was PD.Think about it, what are they going to do about it?Give all the cars ten points per race??

Cheers,

Wrong the is great in GT4. It won the 150mile Super Speedway enduro with stock settings a lap ahead of the Sauber C9 and R8 and Rc92. The redline starts around 12k so you can safely shift above it without causing damage(though does not matter here). At Lemans it carries speed in low and mid level corners (50 to 150) faster than the 787b or Gt-One but loses downs the straights. It is odd looking compared to other Group C and other LMP but thats my only complaint about it.

Buy it and you may like.👍 I do, it is slow than the Sauber C9 down the Mulsanne straight, but if you want to do any other endurance or hard race It wont let you down. A-spec it easy to get loose but its lighter (750kg than 900Kg) than the GT-one or R390 so I guess it is realistic. In B-Spec at the 150mile enduro it was set to 4 the whole never bounced of the wall to wreck and lose tons of speed reach 200 with 10 seconds of leaving pit road slow shifts do not mean slow accelration. I plan to use this for the 24 hour races over the 88C-V since it is lighter and less abusive on tires.👍

That's good to hear. I planned on using either the 905 or XJR9 for the Le Mans II 24hr endurance and when I heard people complaining about these two cars I felt disappointed. But by the sounds of it its not as bad as people have made out.

The 905 does shift slowly which allows even the AI controled cars to stick with you down the straights. I think the reason the redline area is so large is as pointed out before it is a formula F1 derived engine which would rev up to 18,000rpm but i am sure a rev limiter would have been put in place for endurance purposes. As the engine would die after just 40 laps or so! It is the case al over the game, cars which should be good are crap due to bad handling characterisitics. The car physics engine is better than GT3 but the programers at PD have made good cars crap..e.g. the ZII!
