Its not really called the R8 btw, but it might aswell be lol.

Interesting design, but I don't think adding 2 doors to what is, essentially, the R8 design, is going to help Peugeot. The R8's body just isn't designed to have 4 doors.

Why is that "essentially the R8 design"? I've seen loads of coupes with similar shapes before and after the R8 so what makes this one essentially R8 when it's a pretty common and generaic shape and was before the R8.

Tbh the roof line looks very un-R8 to me, maybe because it's longer but then longer is a difference. All cars are similar in one way or another, different layouts and what not force certain design principals especially when good aerodynamics become a factor.

the lights alloys and front shoulder line screams lemans concept to me. Oh and the rear vents.

Hmm. Seems as though they've remodelled the front of this.

We'll see what they do I suppose. Oh, and Forza, do you have a source for this article?

It's a trimline, not rear vents, but I can see where you would say that. and adding that schnozz with the Peugeot logo there isn't helping it much. It's not bad...just not great. Doesn't look Mid-engined, either.

You're joking right? There may have been designs before & after the R8, but there's no denying this concept has ques directly from the R8. The profile looks so much like Audi's supercar. Even the wheel design helps give the body an R8 feel.

I'm not accusing Peugeot of trying to rip off Audi by any means, but it's incredibly hard to miss that Peugeot might have been going for their vision of what a 4-door R8 might appear as.

I never said it didn't resemble an R8 in shape, I simply said that several cars do. A large part of a cars basic shape is defined by function, engine placment, drivetrain, how far they want to go aerodynamically. If two cars a built on the same principal goals or thereabouts then the chances of them looking similar are high especially considering there's arguably no scope for new design anymore.

I see the reason behind their comments, but the R8 is definitely more muscular. The Peugeot concept is just smooth in its contours. It is nicely rounded, but does not evoke the R8, and the 4-door arrangement compromises the sporting lines somewhat.

The actual information on the car (as quoted from the link above) which Forza neglected to post with the picture. I somehow think 313bhp and 109g/km CO2 is a little more significant than whether it looks like an R8 or not...

Peugeot's home motor show is coming up and it is a show they are unlikely to take lightly. In preparation for the event the French manufacturer has released the first images of a new concept they will be unveiling at the Paris Motor Show. The full name of the concept is yet to be divulged, so in the meantime we will have to make do with “RC...”.

The model is a GT Coupe which features four seats and a highly innovative hybrid architecture , it represents the missing link between the RC Concept car unveiled back in 2002 and the Peugeot 908 RC from the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

Potential power output is 313bhp and the effect on environment is kept to a minimum with CO2 emissions of 109g/km when driving in combined mode, this figure goes down to zero in full electric mode.

Many of Peugeot's future ideas have been included in the model and it could be the first step into presenting the company's new brand identity which is likely to be focused on a more aggressive and sporty product line up.

there are loads of concepts and protoypes who boast similiar figures, and quite frankly doesnt interest me purely for the fact that its a concept.

Can't say I've seen "loads" with similar figures. And just because it's a concept doesn't mean that it isn't relevant. The engine and drivetrain probably have about the same likelihood of making production as the body does at any rate (i.e, not likely for a good long while).

Nice that you don't care, but maybe we do. if you think this concept is worth opening a thread, you should at least provide some basic information. Or did you do this solely for joking about the optical resemblance to the R8, which is not worse than I'd expect from a similar concept by the way?

Interesting point there. Perhaps the discussion went the way it did then.

Next time you make a thread like this, would you mind telling us the actual name?

So you open a thread where you say the concept is an R8 copy (even though these concepts have been going on for a few years at Peugeot, and the rear looks very different), you don't care about the details (never mind even posting them), and then what?

I still wish they'd produce that 907 concept they had. I really wanted that 500HP V12, in that body.

Looks about it...

I quite like this concept, would like to see if they take it further.

Shame they didn't produce it... it was actually a working prototype... read a review where they gave someone a ride in it on public roads... sounds like it would be epic...

Maybe someone could fix it?
