The only thing that will ease the pain is if Mercedes and/or Jaguar came back to prototypes.
But meh. I can dream can I? :sly:

I think Toyota will do better with their car than the AMR-One, but I'm not expecting a win. Or a podium. It'll be good to see a decent mid-field battle for LMP1

We had that in Rebellion vs Pescarolo...

Have to agree with you Hawkeye, but AMR-One wrote the book on how to fail so others would never do it again.

The engine has been in use for 3-4 uears now, the hybrid system has been tested in a race environment before (Supra HV) so all they really need to do is build a competitive chassis and aero package using that world clas division of theirs called TMG, Aston Martin can only dream of being like Toyota...

No one is disputting that Toyota is one of the largest car manufactures in the business, while Aston Martin I think only has a net worth of 900mil +.
Once again we'll see, the years of practice that Audi have against a re-reintroduction of Toyota to Endurance racing full time.

Also TMG is great and all but it didn't win them F1 races as stated in other threads...wait why are we even talking about this in a Peugeot thread.

Back to topic, I wish the best to Peugeot, though I always was against them I will still miss them.

Sad news. After last years Le Mans, I was looking forward to another great Audi vs Peugeot battle again this year. :sigh:

Same here. They will be missed.

Im curious to see where their drivers go... Some to Porsche/Audi over the next few years? It was mentioned on Speed that on an individual basis, all of the Peugeot-Audi drivers were on good levels with each other.

Anthony Davidson will be a full time sim driver for Merc GP possibly.
I think some may get collected and used as development for returning teams like you've said. 2013 and 14 may bring manufactures back to the fray, that is if F1 hasn't already with new engine regs.

I did hear that Quensel was given an option of either running in 2012 or a budget to develope a 2014 car....

Never been a Pesca fan so haven't really cared haha, you'll have to google it.

Hasn't Pescarolo won Le Mans with his team? What has his team achieved?

Pescarolo has never won LeMans as a owner but he won 3 times (1972-74) as a driver (72 with G. Hill, 73 and 74 with Larrousse) in the Equipe Matra Simca MS670, 670B and 670C.

Yeah I know that. Didn't he win the LMS title last year?

Let's all follow the stream of the crisis and then we will really get a crisis. I don't understand their decision. Audi probably won't face too much competition from Toyota and Aston Martin so maybe the GT class will steal the spotlight this year.

Not good for the sport though is it? And the more Audi rely on success gleaned from no serious competition the less respect they deserve (especially with their silly '1' headlamps!), not that I give them any anyway after Barcelona '07.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's bad for the sport and especially Le Mans. But then again, I'd love to see Audi take a 1-2-3 finish. :)

Audi definitely won't face any competition from Aston considering the they aren't running LMP1 anymore.

Was about go say I really don't see Aston competing against Audi this year as the Vantage can't post LMP1 times

Engine department of Peugeot Sport has been shuttered/sold. Won't be seeing them back any time soon by the looks of it...

Yes the 908 engines are gone but the facility is still Peugeot Sport's for WRC etc...(do citroen share the place? idk but if so then thats jsut another thing going on in that place)

Theres a rumour about Pure wanting to use the place to develop there V6 f1 engine however I'd just go to Toyota for that one.

The P1 engine facility doesn't build the WRC engines, completely seperate facility iirc.

A spokesman for Automobiles Peugeot said that it was the company's intention to return to motorsport, most likely in the WEC, possibly as early as 2013.

“This should be and must be a temporary compromise,” the spokesman said. “I cannot say that we will not be in the WEC next season. We will try to be back in motorsport next year. Maybe 2013 is a little too early, but we are definitely not closing the door.”

Fingers crossed..

They're focusing on strengthening there sales.

I know that, I saw the posts earlier, what I'm saying is after seeing that they also may be looking to strengthen their racing craft/cars. If they come back next year, I guess their planning one hell of a fiscal year in sales, to me it seems to be a big portion sales and a small portion about their racing.
