Today I received an E-Mail from NatWest Bank explaining that my online account had been restricted due to invalid login attempts on my account. The interesting thing is I have never had a NatWest Bank account. I rang up their Customer Services and I was advised that this was a Phishing Scam!!!! I may be naive on internet matters but what actually is that? Can anyone help? Has anyone else had this?
Cheers,

when they explained this to you, did they say it was a "phishing scam", or a "fishing scam"?

Yeah .. I get those emails all the time, most go straight through to my spam folder. I figure if they don't they might be worth a shot a checking out to see how good the scam actually is. (NOTE: Do not attempt without trained supervision.)

I actually got one from a fake Paypal one time. It was a damn good job too, except the fact that it was a geocities site which I happened to notice when I hovered over the link. "Paypal" page looked exactly the same as it should, all the links directed to paypal pages. Funny thing is, I didn't have a paypal account then, so I knew it was bogus from the start.

it was just a question... if you haven't had your meds, don't take it out on me

Sorry mate I'm not taking it out on you and it's nothing personal but I do know the difference between phishing and fishing and would like serious responses from this community. Is that too much to ask?
BTW I have no need for so called meds - YET!
VT - Thanks for your considered repsonse - The one I got looked exactly like a genuine NATWest mail - logo, links etc......Damn good job I didn't click on the link.. This is obviously what they wanted me to do!
