Both my dad and I received free upgrade cards from AT&T to renew our contracts. I have many contacts on my phone, as well as pictures, apps, texts, and voicemails. I would pretty much like to keep everything on my phone besides the music, since the music is not mine and takes up way too much space.

My question is, if I upgrade my 3G to a 3Gs through AT&T, will I be able to keep all my data saved on my phone? If I can't, then I see absolutely zero point in upgrading. Yes my phone has issues, but it can call and text fine, and that's all I really care about.

Would I also be able to back up my data on iTunes, and then place it onto the new phone? Thank you for your answers!

You should be able to back it up to iTunes on your computer, then when you connect your new phone you can just download the backup onto it.

Well, just went by AT&T for the FREE upgrade, which happens to be $40. Yup, that's AT&T! $40 for a free upgrade! :grumpy:

That's the same for Sprint. It costs $36 to upgrade my phone so I'm waiting a month or two after my contract ends to get deals on nice phones. I will be under Sprint but I have no contract holding me from changing to a different provider.

Just say you're not impressed and considering changing a new supplier for a different deal. That should get them going: "oh right... how about we waive the 40 dollars charge then?"
