Sorry if this was already posted or something, I know the rules, but I just wanted everyone to see for themselves.
This was me, just 30 minutes ago durning the Circuit de la Sarthe I 24 hour race. I did the first bit in A-Spec, then (as you can see in this pic) I switched to B-Spec.
Anyways, enjoy :)

That's like having a friend over to switch off playing! I think this is a good feature. This'll let you rest or get a snack in those long hours without pausing.

good picture, that is good for the health of the GTplanet community :)

your tire wear is not that equal, show us if you're b-spec driver does better???

If you finish the race, are the A-spec and B-spec points divided in two or ...?

Thats a great feaute, i've been driving pretty much 3 24hr races in endurances in 4 days and it's not fun doing 24 hours in one circuit by yourself and isn't fun watching a driver do 24 hrs, so good thinking by Polyphony digital, though you'd think it would be obvious that they would do this for the Asian version of the game.

Quality is crappy, but it's still a picture nonetheless :p

As for the tire wear, it has 1200+ hp, so that really can't be helped, even with TCS setting of 5 (MR cars are hard on their rear tires anyway).

That's a great feature since B-spec is risky (my cien wouldnt pass a 350z that it kept bumping into despite the "overtake" being toggled on) and you can switch in to recover a lead loss.

I've used the combined A-spec and B-spec driving modes in the 1000 miles championship. Since the car I used pretty much overpowers the rest of the field, I set the B-spec driver to 1when I switch over to him (even then, it'll go off track in Le Sarthe II at several points every single lap x_x).

Your B-spec driver gets points, but you won't be getting any A-spec points.

I thought this was old news?

if you switch back and forth between A spec and B spec in any race I believe you only get B spec points.

with such a difference in power maybe you had the pace setting too high? set it to 1 if you didnt already and see if that improves the B spec drivers skill.

Well, what I usually do is, I do the opening stint myself in A-Spec, then after the first, or maybe even second pit stop (depending on how much I want to drive) I switch to B-Spec, because like you said, the B-Spec drivers are horrible when it comes to passing the other cars, even with Overtake enabled 👎

I've got a question about B-spec in endurance....can you leave the PIT STOP button pressed and it will do it automatically or will it pit every lap if you do that?

Cause if I fall asleep in B-spec I don't wanna run out of gas or something.

My apologies :O , I must have missed it somewhere on the board. :indiff:

But thx for the answers anyway. :)

cool info, thanks for the heads up...

too bad I have never and shall never take a break or use B-spec

:)

Neither will I, for now at least... maybe after 100% completion I'll start with it. :)

From what I've heard and read, it does pit automatic after a period of time, but it sometimes screws up and misses the pit. You'll never run out of gas technically, if it happens, you just ride along with the maximum speed around 80 mph? until the A.I. pits. If I'm wrong, please correct me. :)

I pity your tires :(
But it's good to know B Spec switching is in. It's like having a GT playing friend there without having one there. Uhhh...yeah.
(All my friends are either evil commie Nintendo users or don't play GT :( )

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

B-Spec mode is actually useful if you aren't that good. It is a good feature to have if you dont think you can drive a certain track very well. B-Spec mode does have some stupidity. I have used B-Spec mode more than 3X the amount I used A-Spec.

B-Spec actually drives to me like nearly as perfect as those demo runs in license mode. But one thing I found out is that it doesnt seem to know how worn out your tire can be. Like for example, on Tokyo 246 track reverse:

with yellowish tires, and approaching the second turn...My supra would lose some traction and bump into the wall quite hard. I put the setting on 5 for Push by the way. To counter this problem, before that turn approaches, I set the mode to 2 or 1 and it will go safely around the turn.

B-Spec mode doesnt always drive perfect. It needs to be monitered when the wheel begin to get worn out. Sometimes you don't have to worry about the hitting and running off the curb.

B-Spec Mode + More Horsepower then opponents = almost automatic WIN! :O

I haven't experimented far into the game with B-spec mode yet, hopefully someone can create a topic about how smart the AI in B-Spec mode is! :O

i've found best that when using B-spec I will use Push until I get the lead then draw it back to Steady for the rest of the way (knowing I will have enough distance and HP).

That's probably what I'll do in the endurance races too. Push for a while till I get a substatial lead then just tone it back.

No need to leave anything pressed. Your B-Spec driver will pit automatically when it needs fuel. It will also resume the pace you set it to, for example, I have mine set to 4 (fast) and it resumes that pace after every pit stop, no need to reset the pace. However, what it does not reset is the speed you have the race going prior to pitting, so if you had it set to 3x speed, it will go back to realtime speed after the pit, which is a bit of a downer, but nothing big I suppose.

I must say, B-Spec mode has to be the best addition to the GT series IMO, definitely glad they added it 👍

In some instances, you'd be like "who cares about silly little points?" But then, I wouldn't know how to boost up points to have yourself some bragging rights. I was chatting with mi amiga buena McLaren'sAngel about B-Spec, and as I was telling her about how this stuff is perhaps your saving grace to winning in GT. There's something you have to remember about B-Spec mode, however. You're still racing through everything. It isn't like your AI racer just goes on by itself while you kick back and talk to your girlfriend/boyfriend over the phone. I felt like a crew chief or a college football coach trying to root on my AI racer to do its (because the AI driver can be male or female) job. I still remember saying to it "come on, kid!" and "okay, you did good, kid." I think if you have leadership qualities, this mode may just be for you.

But that's real interesting to know about B-Spec mode switchovers. For the point-minded folks, just do your best in A-Spec, and if that fails, get your B-Spec points up. I never gave up when I raced. Heck, I was happy if I got 5th Place. Much better than 6th. I'm no newcomer to the GT series, and I'd feel pretty bad to get 6th all the time with a totally revised GT game.

Johhny have some good points about B-Spec! :O When I use B-Spec mode, I watch my car go as if it is my kiddo racing! :O I actually LOVE B-Spec mode because I enjoy looking at cars in action. I love to hear the car, watch the car and cheer for the car.

Yeah, same here, I used to always watch replays in GT3, now this is even better. However, I must say, I often get quite irritated at how apprehensive the B-Spec driver is. Take for example my experience at Le Mans. I have my Audi R8 set up perfectly for the track, taking full advantage of the Mulsanne straight. Now, what does my idiotic B-Spec driver do? It gets going at a great deal of speed, then tucks right behind a Camaro race car, and stays there. It doesn't pass, it just peaks its nose out, but not enough to pass. I get so irritated at how stupid the B-Spec driver can be at times, that I'm starting to lose confidence in it with the important races, knowing it won't pass when it can, or should, no matter what the pace is set to, or if the overtake icon is selected :scared:

When I was racing in B-Spec mode, whenever my AI driver was close enough to a leading car, I quickly pressed Triangle to make my driver go for the overtake (I chose not to say "the kill" because this is a family-friendly forum ;)). Sometimes I just feel like I'm rooting on a sports team rather than just taking things easily. I was all into it, personally. It was like I was Bill Belechick (or however you spell his name) trying to push Tom Brady to win a Super Bowl. B-Spec mode can be fun, though. You have to kind of do a little role play.

Until I get GT4, I'm just going to drift around SSR5 (Wet) in a Mazda RX-7 RS. Zoom-zoom... I mean, bye-bye!

I did the 3.5 hour Nurburgring race in the 1000 Miles series. Mostly in B-Spec, due to the fact the car I used was a beast. (The AC, tuned to hell. Real handful.) B-Spec was fun. I'd accelerate time, and then when he'd get close to lapping someone, switch back to regular and make sure to smack triangle to make him overtake.

Was interesting to compare tyre wear and laptimes depending on the setting. (Did most of the race on *1* and still won it by two laps.)
