i searched the forum and asked people in the photomode thread, but no one seem to be able to give me a definite answer before switching to another topic...

so i noticed that the convertibles are sometimes open top in races and closed tops in others...
are there anyway to control this in photomode (both photo travel and photo drive)?

and while we're on the topic, i have seen some older render of cars with doors open (e.g. 300SL) would that be possible at least for some cars?

thanks a million!

I would like to know how you control stuff like that too!

.......calling any GT4 NTSCJ owners

You race Top Up in GT mode races or races with more than 2 cars on the track
You race Top Down in time trial or races with less than 2 cars on the track

i am not sure about whether it can open during races

but for photomode, it will open automatically in some location but not all and you don't have option to make it open or not

What "sucks" exactly here? That we have the option to race with top down or that we can not do it with six cars on track? :dunce:
In GT3 many people got upset about not having to race with the top down but now (despite the fact that we have the OPTION to), it sucks only because we cant do it with six cars. Who wants a "sucky" game? So, guess you kinigitt and 98cobra would rather have them to remove the option to it then to leave it as it is? Didnt think so. But.. Yet, it sucks. : /
Oh well, not had the best day so sorry if i overreacted. Just cant agree with you at all.

it sucks that you can't race a full grid. Unless you think that rules. If so, go you.

but now that you mention it, it doesn't matter, because a full grid only has 1 or 2 competitive cars in it, and by competitive I mean they stay less than 15 seconds behind. hallellujah. they should just take out the A.I. cars completely and replace them with little Kaz heads that snap pictures and give you a thumbs up.

DARBAG! be happy that you will be able to have an option to drive your precious little convertibles with your sweet little tops down...sheesh...we lived with all tops up in GT3, and people cry like little babies because they cant drive all the time with their tops down...

i say be happy with what you get, any improvement is something worthwhile...

I even think that some cars look better with tops up, like that cobra from GT3, that's my opinion but before you immediatly say that it sucks maybe it would look better after all :) And if you had the option you will always have to change the settings of your car before a race, I would forget that ALL the time if I wanted that, I think of that more frustrating. So why an option if (I think) most people would forget the option itself??
Always try to think positive :)

speaking of convertibles having their tops down...

is there word that these cars can be driven like during free/trial runs with their tops down? can all convertibles that are in the game be driven at times with their top down?

No, you cannot choose to have the top up or down in photo mode. It's either up or it's down.

No, you cannot race with the top down on the viper. Although obviously a convertible, the game treats it as a hardtop.

As long as we can drive the Viper with the top down in Free Run, it's all good. 👍
All convertibles that are shown with the top up in the dealer/garage cannot be driven or photographed top down under any circumstances. A simple rule of thumb: if the top is up…you are out of luck. Most disappointingly this includes RUF 3400S. Hence, if you wish to know about a certain car, go to Maskrider’s site and see for yourself.

Wow...I don't care if I get completely internet-ass-kicked for this, but WHY?! I figured that since they made it a 'vert in the game and had other 'verts with the top down...why not just make them all top-down-option-worthy? :dunce:

Accurately modelling the interiors of convertibles is time consuming process (time that could be spent creating more cars.) Also, it is possible that PD did not collect or have access to the interior data of the convertibles that are not able to drop their top.

I have no idea why you can't put the top down on the viper. Or the TVR V8S, for that matter. I can only speculate and say that maybe having the convertibles down was not part of their original plan for GT4. That long development stage resulted in a game that appears to be several versions of GT4 all bundled up in one package.

It appears that you failed to read the rule of thumb Ned...

Okely dokely?

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less whether you can race with the top down or not.

As long as I can race a Jaguar around the Nurburgring in under 10 minutes like Jeremy Clarkson did on 'Top Gear', I couldn't give a fudge. It doesn't bother me if I have no roof or I do, as long as GT4 is the best game ever, then that's all I have to say...
