It's pretty simple. :) Quoted by Jordan from the Uploading Your Pictures & Videos thread in the GT4 Galleries Forum:

Uploading Photos
1. Click on the "new thread" button.
2. Type anything you like about your gallery of images in the new post box.
3. Attach your pictures using the "Upload Images to ImageShack" form, found in the "Additional Options" section below the posting form. After your image has finished uploading, copy the Thumbnail for forums (1) code provided into your post, wherever you like.
4. Submit your new thread and tell others about your new gallery.

Either that or upload them to imageshack here

And once it's uploaded copy and past the thumbnail for forums link 1 and you'll get a picture in your post like this.

but the question is, can i just take a photo and make a custom avatar from that?

Avatars?
EDIT: You can take a photo, use software like Adobe Photoshop or Paintshop pro to resize to 100 x 100 pixels. (You must have 100 posts to upload an avatar of your own though)

Yep - you have to have 100 posts to have a custom avatar. This doesn't mean you can go around posting lots so you can just get it, though. ;)

If you have anymore questions, just take a quick look at the stickies in this forum, or the FAQs section. If they don't answer your questions, THEN ask.

How about reading the sticky thread called Custom Avatar and Title Requirements that is right at the top of this board?
