now this is really a serious question to me. i have surprisingly not found one person who prefers pie over cake. why is that? i personally prefer pie. i like cake but i would take a slice of pie anyday. and how can they call cheesecake a cake? its a pie! its made with pie crust!

Pies are, on the whole, better. Fruit is an amazing food. I could eat fruit in just about any healthy form all day long. Put it in a pie and I'm in heaven. Nut based pies are pretty bad, though.

As for cake, I can't eat much without getting ill. Chocolate is grea. Carrot is great. Other than that, not many options appeal to me. Maybe strawberry.

poontang pie. 👍

lol...jp jp. i like pudding pies and fruit pies and pumpkin pies. i dont like nut pies though.

the only kind of cake i really like is yellow cake with chocolate icing. otherwise, i'd probly go for a slice of pie.

I also prefer pie over cake.

But why is this such a serious question to you?

I say pie. Pie's better just because it doesn't have all the fluffy extra that cake does. It's mostly filler, but pie just has the good stuff. And the cakes that I like the most are really moist.....just like pie.

Now I'm all hungry....

Oooh, tough call. But if cheesecake is classed as a pie, then pie it is.

I'm still voting for both, though.

"Its like warm apple pie"
I just had to throw the warm apple pie quote up there but I personally prefer chocolate cake.

Gotta give my vote to pie. I would eat watever you put in front of me but I would choose pie. Maybe it's because you can't make a good pie out of a box but cake you can?

Cheese Cake down not have a pie crust. There are many variations of cheese cakes, and the original was to back it, it had a harder outer edge, traditionaly made of Semi sweet chocolate, then there was a change and the "no-bake" cheese cakes came out, and as a standard they have a graham cracker bottom to them, not a crust

I've never understood the attraction to cheese cake. Three bites and I have a stomach ache. I'll take apple pie any day. A-la-mode.

And not that fake gooey-filler kind. Give me the real deal packed with thin slices of apple and generous dashes of sugar and cinnamon. I usually make a couple of them around the holidays. Quite honestly, my apple pie is the best I've ever had.

It's not hard to make an apple pie. The only ingredients are apples, Granny Smith's are the top choice, butter, salt, flour, sugar and cinnamon. Some people add allspice, nutmeg, cream of tartar, vanilla extract or raisins to the pie. I don't. I like my apple pie simple.

When making the pie crust, lard is the best choice for shortening. It makes the crust very flakey.

Cheesecake is made with a crushed biscuit base - therefore it's not a cake (which is cooked once only) OR a pie (which is made with pastry). It's a cheesecake.

Cake > Pie
Chocolate > Apple

Besides, the concept of a "birthday pie" sucks.

To throw some wierdness into the mix, how about crumble? Crumble has no base or sides and is essentially fruit with a crushed biscuit "lid".

well the cheesecake i bake requires a grahm cracker pie crust. i also like peach cobbler. i think thats mainly a southern desert. i dont know. but warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream is really good.

I HAVE to stop reading this thread while I'm at work. I don't have anything to eat here. :guilty:

Apple crumble is good with some vanilla ice cream, it goes down a treat. Mind you I'm a cake fan and really enjoy anything without nuts. Nuts get the big thumbs down.

Come to think of it I've never really had pie, I've been brought up on cakes, slices and muffins. I suppose it's down to a culture thing. The only pies I have are the beefy variety full of nutritious meat off cuts that might as well be in your dogs dinner.

^^ :D That's pie allright

I chose Pie, because I love applepie. And if it has ice cream on top, the feeling of eating it is almost orgasmic.
