Hey guys,
I have a quick question..
I picked up a pinnacle video transfer, and i connected up my ps3 with RCA cables and recorded a replay on a 1gig usb stick.

But when i was watching on my mac, it seems like there are these lines across the video...
very unpleasing.. (might return it...)

any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance

You need to de-interlace it. I recommend returning it and buying a Pinnacle Dazzle that works on the mac.

Reading the manual might help, particularly the "Practical tips for the selection of video quality" section.

Thanks for those highly useful posts. 👍

[/sarcasm]

Well for a start i dont know anything about the OP's question otherwise i would have put a helpful comment. And me asking for it to be moved into a better catagory where more people will know about it is more helpful for OP 👍

What's this thread got to do with GT5P?...

someone posted a similar question (regarding capturing replays) in the GT5P forum so i posted it in the same forum,
my bad

de-interlace it?... (in the process of googling de-interlacing)
will playing it on a pc solve my problem? (i just like using iMovie)
its a pc-less capture device so i doubt playing the video on my pc will do anything...

wow,
i actually didn't think of that...:ouch::ouch:

EDIT: think i solved my problem, need to use the "better" quality instead of "best".... bummer... OR i can get a de-interlacer program... anyone recommend any? I'm thinking of trying "JES deinterlacer" at home..

thanks again

He means change it to progressive which is best for the internet by using a video editing program.

Then maybe - and this is just a thought for you to consider - if you don't know anything about the question, don't bother replying to it.

Too bad that you didn't even give a suggestion as to where it should be moved. All you did was note that it should be moved, which is clear to everyone having read the first and third posts.

found a couple tutorials on how to deinterlace using various programs
i'll go home and try what is best
(any recommendations are still appreciated)

thanks for all the help

I've never even tried to use the best quality setting for recording. I've always just used the middle setting of the 3. Some of the videos that I've uploaded to youtube are available in best quality, and some aren't, which is strange.

I should maybe try the highest quality setting and see how it goes.

appreciate that,
hopefully the de-interlacing works well for me...

for the youtube best quality, you can actually go into your account settings and change it so that all videos you watch will be in the best quality (if available), rather than clicking on the little link each time
i think its account settings -> Video Playback Quality

also adding in "&fmt=18" (w/o quotations) at the end of a youtube video url, should automatically send you to the higher quality version of the video

for some reason, certain videos i watch do not have the link, but the url method works 👍

The drawback to youtubes best quality is that it changes the 16:9 of the original, to a 4:3....

But that's for a different topic.

Doesn't the pinnacle video transfer only record in 4:3?...
because using the RCA cables automatically sets my ps3 resolution to 4:3.... (480i)
Man i should really find that manual...

EDIT: I've been watching a bunch of videos on youtube and most of them in their best quality version are widescreen... or 16:9
EDIT2: i've played my captured videos with VLC and they appear as widescreen there, but not on quicktime... (720x480 IS widescreen?)

Thanks for godamn picking on me! Jesus im sorry and didnt mean to piss people off,

If you are interested about aspect ratio then you can give this a read.

Also 720x480 is a 3:2 ratio. If you are interested in the different video standards then take at look at this image(warning: huge image).

Apologize by learning from the incident, and you'll be golden. 👍
