Hi all.

Same cars - elise rm fully modded
Same number of laps before stop - 12
Same circuit - Trial mountain
Same tyres - RS

Me and another player enter the pits at almost the same time. Me being 0.5 (guess) seconds ahead.

I come out 7 seconds ahead of him. Weird thing is, when I pitted, I didnt even need to put on fuel.

Maybe the other player did put on fuel?

If you don't slow down enough for pit entrance the crew sometimes holds you for a "penalty time". I don't know the specifics but I've seen it happen both to others and myself.

So if you speed into the pit land, you get a penalty you cant see?

Yes you do. On most tracks you usually have to slow down to below 90mph upon pit entry. Other you don't need to slow down for at all.
Just do a quick test, open up an online lobby on Daytona superspeedway and go onto the pits flat out and see what happens.

If his crew was further down the pit than yours, the moment you turn in he has to slow down as well and accelerate back to pit speed. That usually costs the following guy a lot of time.

If he entered the pits much faster than you, he most likely got ported back to the pit entrance. The faster he went in, the further he gets before being brought back to the entrance, the more time he loses.

Being mindful of stuff like this during racing can gain or cost you a lot of time.

I found on the 24hr Nurb that the AI would always take on fuel and be in the pits 10-20 seconds longer, where as I would only take on enough fuel to equal the time it took to change the tires (13 litres or so) and be out well ahead. at some point I would stop for a large amount of fuel - 1 in every 10 pitstops roughly.

I did zoom my C9 in to the Motegi pit and crashed! The auto pilot had to do a 15 point turn to free the car!! :D

^^^ what this guy said, I have seen these things happen many times in the racing league I am part of.

McLaren mechanics would explain everything.

While it may be possible in a really fast car, I have not yet been able to make it penalize me for speeding into the Trial Mountain pits even when entering so hot that the autodrive can barely handle the corners in the pit lane without crashing.

So that would tend to make me think that the cars just pitted too close together and the one who came in .5 seconds behind had to wait for the first one in the pits. As someone said, that can cost you a ton of time because the autodrive is very cautious. But I haven't tested the pit entry with a max-spec Elise RM or similar so it could still be a penalty I suppose.

With certain cars and some tracks pit lanes it isnt possible to speed into them some it is, its been an on going complaint of a lot of people who race in leagues where every second counts, if you enter the pits too fast you are held up, but there is no indication of what speed is considered speeding, PD why is there no pit speed limit button??? or a least a warning of what speed is correct !!! , the other thing it will do sometimes is put you back to the start of the pit lane but this only usually happens when you enter the pits like a maniac, on some tracks such as laguna seca if u hit the pit walls on entry it will simply give you a drive through without stopping.

But with all of this its trial and error, there should be at the very least a pit speed limit sign or something like that.

Just start braking before you entet the pits dont wait for the auto-brake. Problem solved.

Thats exactly what i always do, its not worth risking it, but my point was why does it have to be a mystery as to what the limit is?

The limit is no mystery its 80km/h or 60km/h cant remeber. It will teleport if it cant brake in time for the limit.

The limit is no mystery your just not sure exactly what it is, lol nicely done.

Whats more if u read my first post it doesnt just teleport you back all the time, if you dont speed too much it simply holds you in the pit box for an extended period, i run a league which has run for over a year ive seen it dozens of times.
