Pit Strategy?

Hey I am level 22 B Spec and I was wondering what the pit stop strength level is all about and what i should set it at? Thanks.
 
It is more literal than one would think, the driver will pitstop when they are at the specific percentage of remaining strength. If it is off, the driver will pit when they tires are worn down enough to impede their pacing dramatically.

Depends on how you feel about your B-Spec Bobs and how well they Drive

If there good don't set it at all and let them Race till the Tyres Melt , they'll Autopit anyhow when either the Fuel is near Empty or the Tyres have had it

Or set the Autopit to 10 which means when they have 10% Strength left they'll pit for a Driver , Fuel and Tyre Change


Disadvantages

If you don't set it they may crash the Car coz the tyres have had it and there Tired

If you do they may pit at the wrong moment ( Last Lap ) and you may lose the Race

Advantages

They Pit Whilst they still have some Tyres left

Use less Fuel so less time Fueling in the Pits

And there almost allways on fresher Tyres then the AI

Oh and Never set the Pit Strategy to 90 like I did once because the Driver Pitted after only 3 laps :dunce:

Thankfully I was watching the race and Re-Adjusted the Pit Strategy :lol:
 
90% strength must exist as an option for a good reason, perhaps on an endurance when you have 4 B-spec drivers all at level 40+ using 90% pit-stop change is worth doing?
 
I don't use one, they just go in when their tires are worn. They can still hold their own with no strength. It's worked so far with the first three endurance races.
 
Just doing my first endurance, so no experience input from me at this stage but maybe some food for thought:
I set my guys at 50% so they don't get tired too much (I could afford 90% with the guys pitting every 3 laps cause I'm a lamer and using the Minolta, Bob is in lap 10 now and is lapping the complete field as I type LOL). Back to the subject though: not letting the guys burn out too much may have a positive effect on the little condition arrows? Might be worth experimenting with as long as one can choose over-dominant cars, I bet there will be races later where a line up of wasted drivers isn't helping :lol:

Edit: A slight-off-topic question: does anyone know if Bob changes to correct tyres if it starts (or stops) to rain while I'm in bed and Bob is busting his ass for me (and that's how I see it for most endurance races to come to be honest) ??? Just asking cause if the AI is too stupid to start on wets even if it's pouring cats and dogs before the start.... makes me wonder.

It all depends on the car/track combo, it's a matter of trade off.

If you have a car that is easy to handle, the AI can still drive it fine with worn tires and no strength at all, it's more beneficial to not set the 10% strength limit, particularly so if the track is fast and the pitlane is long. For example the Indy endurance.

But if the combo is demanding and there is a lot of traffic, meaning your bob is constantly running in the reds, you better set the 10% limit of he might crash, and if the pitlane is short and on a relatively slow track, you lose less time in the pits relatively, for example on the Leguna Seca 200 miles.
 
As i have said before i think it is for the use of high level drivers. I was in a B-spec recently and the tyres were nearly dead but i was on still 75% strength.
So if i wanted a strategy where my driver pits as soon as the tyre performance drops off then i would want to set the pit strength to 90%.
But because mostly B-spec user cars are so strong compared to the rest of the field this situation is never needing to be managed as it's not critical strategically.
If there was a B-spec race where the whole field were X1 cars. Then you would need to set pit strength up for sure.
 
Makes absolute sense. Asides turning 10% on or off, meaning setting the percentage higher than 10% I noticed two of my three drivers being tired! So running at 50% didn't help them. Hanv't really got my head around this arrow thing yet. Gonna search for that topic I guess...

yeah once they are a high enough level just leave it off and they will still do fine with zero strength remaining. seems to make more of a difference in a high powered car on a technical course, but on an easy track like indy just leave it off
