Planning for possible PS3 failure....

I'd like to ask some questions about my GT5 saves (and other games too).

I have a PS3 MK1, since the release date of PS3 (23th March, 2007).
60GB, version CECHCxx, PAL (Europe)
3 years later, I replaced the HDD with a WD 320GB 5400rpm.

I always have a fear.
What would happen if there happens a PS3 failure.
What about my saves? :ill:
I'm backing up my saves on a flash drive via usb.
(but I have problem with Assassin's creed 2, there is no choise for saving data, it is locked)

Let's think that my PS3 is dead.
And I buy a new one.
Will my saves be ok? Can i restore theme from my usb stick?
Is it safer to restore a full back up from a external fat32 HDD?
I was reading the other day that the only way for not loosing saves is to have 2 PS3 connected via cable (ethernet?). Is it true?

Which is the best and more reliable way for not loosing my saves (and protect all that many hours of playing)? :nervous:

Not really GT5 related so in fact in the wrong section

But anyway.
I think you can backup your whole HDD and restore that on a new PS3.
Like you did when you replaced the HDD.

I'm not really sure it might conflict with another Device ID of the PS3 system

It's very slow process, keeping full back up, every time you play GT5!!
It isn't normal to lose 1+ hour everytime I played 2-3 hours GT5.

On the other hand, is it true that the new PS3 will not accept a save file from a different PS3?

Maybe my post isn't on the right section, but I'm worried about my GT5 save files. I 've worked too much & I don't want to loose them :ill:

USB always back up save . I did that after my first ps3 went ylod on me . As for the to ps3s I don't know about that

Just the save data in a flash usb stick or a full back up on external HDD?

If we are OK with the back up of save data in flash usb stick, we can be ok in just a few minutes everyday.
If we need full back up (in external HDD) we need 1 or 2 hours everyday...... :ill:

From what i know it will accept save files as long as the new PSN account is the same as the one the saves came from.
 
one thing that blows when you have to get a new system is any car you have altered the appearnce of will require a "create thumbnail" for you cars not to appear duped (visually missing) Literally took 1 hour for me to create thumbnails of all 700 cars in my garage

I might be wrong since i haven't had to do it, but i thought with the 2.0 update they added a "create all" feature for thumbnails?

With 2.0, there's an option to re-create all missing thumbnails in one click. I haven't tried it (all my thumbnails are intact) but that's what I heard.

I think you can back up/transfer your data beforehand to another HDD before your PS3 goes wrong eliminating all the records remaining in the memory of the gadget.. And nope, you sure are able to send your datas back somehow I guess if your new account still holds yours... The datas being corrupted you have no choice but to start off the games all over again, mercilessly. The disadvantages of a machine with built-in memory are what is advised to do in case yours has suffered a breakdown.
