Play.com confusion

Mine has also not arrived (placed my order back in Jan), I find it amazing that they offer me a whole £3 off the price of GTA4. Lets be honest if they have failed to deliver one high demand PS3 title to me on time, what on earth makes them think that I'm going to trust them to get GTA4 to me on time.

I have also just cancelled four Blu-ray pre-orders I had with them, certainly will not be using Play.com again.

I'm also going to be very unhappy if it doesn't turn up tomorrow, as I'm away with work for three days from Sunday, so that would mean no GT5:P until Wednesday night at the earliest. I'm not bothering to moan at Play, as I honestly don't see what good it will do, rather I'm voting with my feet. Right I'm off to order some Blu-rays with movietyme.com

Nothing popped through my letter box this morning either :nervous: ... except for bill's of course! :ouch:

I'm disapointed in play.com to be honest, I thought my case was isolated and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Now it clearly seems quite wide-spread. I'll probably keep shopping with them. But I think for things like pre-orders I may shop elsewhere.
 
I'm in the same rather annoyed boat as everyone else on here. It doesn't help when you keep getting text messages from friend saying they have got theirs and are installing now etc.

I've had a card from royal mail saying some post does not have enough money paid on it to have it delivered. I have to pay the rest and a charge to receive it. Hope this is unrelated.
 
There's a lot to be said for just buying it on the day.

HMV have been just as bad with me and I did not get any apologies or offers for money off. If it is not here tomorrow then I will be avoiding using them again. Pre ordered in Feb 08.

I sympothise with everyone in this group.
 
This reminds me when my uncle bought some food but got the wrong food... He got offered two fries... I mean he doesn't want fries when he ordered somethin' else!

Would you be really upset if I told you I'm not even going to play it yet? I've even updated it and everything too.

My PS3 is downstairs and my G25 is upstairs. I'm not playing it until they are together.
 
I know someone who works for Play and I've contacted them. I'll report back once I've got a reply.

I saw it for sale in a local shop today, but they were asking more than PLAY. I don't mind waiting a few more days as my new projector hasn't arrived yet. Boys and toys, that's me :-)

The e-mail from PLAY seemed to imply it was Sony's fault. Anyone else get that impression?

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. Ordered it off play last Thursday against my better judgement 'cause I've heard really good things about Shopto and their next day delivery.

As another member made painfully clear...

I should have went with Shopto...

Saying that though, I can't really complain that much, I did get it for £17 quid which is cheaper than almost everywhere.

Just means I'll have to wait a few days.
 
I live in the US, preordered the UK GT5P awhile back. My order has been "dispatched", but my account has not yet been charged (pending, so I can't retract the payment) and there is no shipping tracking yet.

I didn't get the email with the discount offer, however, so I don't know what this means for me. It better get here by next Friday, because I've already made plans for some 2P action next weekend. It's now 2 days past when they should have had it shipped, and I'm sitting here reading post after post from those in more eastern Europe who picked it up Tues and Wed.

If they want to make me happy, they will offer me quicker shipping at their expense, and not try and save me a couple bucks on a game I do not want.

Edit: I just sent them a little note, not that it will make a damn bit of difference:

All indications were that it would be shipped on the 26th, it is now a full two days past, no shipment-but I see you are holding my payment, so I cannot retract it and cancel. My copy hasn't arrived yet and I ordered with Amazon, they're usually quick with pre-orders. I wonder if certain warehouses were late getting it. Eitherway I got an email saying it's been despatched and it should be with me tomorrow. I hope.

As soon as I read this I had a check of my inbox, and I too have that email, haha.

play.com must be reading this thread and worrying about its reputation :sly: trying to keep us sweet :dopey:

I got an e-mail on the 26th to say it was dispatched. I got an e-mail on the 27th with the £3 off GTA4 (it's £7 cheaper at Amazon, so I'm not bothering). I got GT5P on time this morning. I got the LittleBigPlanet e-mail a few minutes ago.


So... they delivered it bang on time, but are still apologising?

Hm, now I'm starting to worry that maybe that the GTAIV email may have been a lie and they haven't despatched my GT5:P at all :scared:

I got my LOVE FiLM discs though. And we sometimes get an afternoon post aswell. Fingers crossed.

Our Postman should be here within the next 30 minutes, but I don't hold out much hope getting it today either.

One question I would like to ask Play.com (I may phone them again) is how come they never notified me via E-Mail that there was going to be a delay? It's clear now that they knew there was going to be a delay, so why no E-Mail giving me the chance to cancel the order and go elsewhere with my custom?

However, at least I now know one thing is for sure, and that's Play.com's E-mail distribution is more efficient then their product distribution. :grumpy:

My Postman has been and gone. He did deliver an item from Play.com but it wasn't GT5P, it was the audio CD that I ordered on Tuesday.

I'm in the same situation. I ordered mine with Play on 23rd Jan and have had the 2 e-mails with the discount codes for future pre-orders (yeah like I'll use Play for that again!). O.k. so it may well be that the situation was out of Play's hands but as Sphinx has pointed out, it appears Play knew the delivery was going to be delayed and they also knew of the hype surrounding this release, they should have done the right thing and given people the opportunity to cancel the order and go elsewhere.

My morning post has just been and still no GT5:P. :grumpy:

I'm off to see if I can pick it up for a similar price in Asda or Woolies or something and I'll return the Play copy when it finally gets here. I'm not paying £25 to download it so if I can't find it I'll have to wait. :grumpy:
