Play Strike for GT5

I actually don't want PD to do big developments with GT5 now. It's been over a year after its release and I've learnt to live with its faults. Apart from Seasonal Events, I don't want new championships now that I've completed the 97% of them. Damage is very poor, but I don't care. All tracks at night? I'm happy with just a few. And what do you mean with more weather conditions? Hurricanes?

You make too many requests to Polyphony Digital, you're almost telling them to do a new game. Just wait until GT6 is released.

Yes but that's new new, we want new old as well.

New Old? We've got plenty of that. After all, there are 800 standards...

Also, just be patient, they're obviously listening to the community. We wanted Spa? We got Spa. We wanted more events? We got seasonal events.

That is all.

I wish I could report this thread but sadly there is nothing against it in the AUP.

@sebbyd86
Seriously? You have 18 posts on GTPlanet and you're trying to infect us with your complaing ways. Show some respect.
I find this pretty insulting.

I'm not trying to insult any one especially PD. I love GT and my amount of posts posted on GTPlanet don't count. I'm simply stating what others have said, requested and so on in other topics on GTPlanet.

I'll add my thoughts. It's a stupid idea. PD won't care if a couple of thousand people don't log on. As long as the majority of people are vaguely happy, they will not care. I am happy with the game and the new content, and I'm sure lots of others are too.

If they have stated it why are you restating it? It has already been stated. You want to be demanding of PD? Right, thats going to work. PD is not your slave nor your servant. Yes you can make suggestions, but this strike idea really pushed me over the edge. All you are saying about yourself by heading this up is that you like to whine about Gran Turismo.

Your reasons for doing this are absolutely laughable. Just because the internet gives you a voice doesn't mean others have to listen to it.

Maybe if they could inform us all a little more on what they are developing and when we can expect to see them.

First of all PD is not the government or British for that matter. Second they are not building railway lines. I'm just simply asking for those who are true GT fans to take a stand and ask for what they really want to enjoy the game more and better. Whether it's a feature, car, track or a bug fix.

Yes but the principle is the same, protests fail all over the world, wether it being in Britian, America, India or Dubai. Very few protests succeed in getting what they want.

Why would they release thier trade secrets and operations for future plans to folks on the internet? Doesn't make any business sense.

That is all you needed to say, and it doesn't require a threat to strike. Honestly, why did you create this strike thread when you could have just found a place to post this simple request instead.

Exactly & your protest has no hope of working - they have not been voted into place & do not have to answer to anybody. They don't even have to give us any more DLC if they don't want to.

It's not like you're obliged to buy the DLC either.

Stop moaning & start enjoying what you have, in case you hadn't noticed GT5 is actually quite good by the way.

This is what I've been trying to say but I couldn't find the words to do it.

Ok fine. Adding the word strike was properly a bad idea. I guess I approached this all wrongly. Sorry for causing some much trouble and I do love GT5.

Protesting GT5 would be alot like boycotting Walmart, where while you sit in front of their doors, 50 million transactions will occur behind you that day.

Even if 100,000 people decided to not play online for a day or two, PD would have no idea why.

I don't think PD would care if even half a million users stopped going on GT5 simultaneously for a week. They're doing a good job as they are fixing the game's faults, they don't need to be rushed any faster, when it comes to updates and DLC.

We should set a date for all of us not to play Gran Turismo 5 at all online or the special events for a day or two maybe a week to get the attention of PD. This is so that when PD look at there servers they will see a massive drop of users not playing and would wonder why.

I think we need to be more demanding for what we would like and not let PD keep delivering new content they think we would like. I'm not saying I don't enjoy the fresh DLC's every now and again but PD should finish the game by increase the levels more, the types of races and not just in special events, more championships for all types of racing, previous tracks from all GT's (including the one on PSP) that are not included in GT5. The other Forumla 1 cars and not just the 2 Ferrari's.

More damage on the vehicles. Fix the headlights on standard cars for when driving at night. Have more weather conditions and applied to all tracks and allow all tracks to be able to drive at night including the night tracks to day. Weather conditions could be applied in real time for the world tracks using maybe Yahoo weather api.

Allow computer cars to be driving with you on two player in Arcade mode. Arcade should allow you to use all your cars from your garage and not just the 100 added favourites. Player two should be able to sign into there PSN account to access there cars they have in there garage from there profile. For this function to work PD will have to synchronize your profile online to there servers as an xml file or something to which can be temporary downloaded for when player two logins in the Arcade mode.

I'm sure there is more to be added that is not that should be. So I will leave you all to post your replies.

P.S. When do you think we should on go on Play Strike?

You sure expect a lot out of a console that only has 256mb of RAM (half as much as my cell phone). Most of the things you mention simply aren't possible due to hardware limitations. If they were possible they would have already been done. The superb graphics and physics of this game push the PS3 to its limits, they've done their best to squeeze in anything else that there's room for and I for one am quite happy with the results.

Do people just sit around and think of thread topics like this? People take this game way to serious.

"Hey! I have an idea... I'll organize a GT5 strike on GTPlanet!!"

The very small percentage of GT5 players that are on this website really doesn't mean much when you look at the numbers.

GT5 - 7 million copies sold. With 100,000 or so active daily players online.
GTPlanet - 200,000 members with 100 or so people who might actually care.

Protests DONT work

Well, they did work for EvE Online, recently. Once the players started unsubbing and occupying Jita, we quickly had the CEO on his knees, changes reverted, a resource hogging sister-game cancelled and a company wide reorganization. Now everyone is happy.

Not that I would protest PD, though. They're still developing :)

Very presumptuous of you, o.p, to think that I or anyone else wants the exact same things as you do.

I don't want more bloody levels or "career" events with their silly regulations and rubbish a.i.

All I want is physics improvements and new tracks. When will you join me in chaining ourselves to the gates of P.D.I?

Don't like it don't play it. Simple as that. If you like the game but think improvements are needed then offer constructive opinions and suggestions. Your idea of improvement is neither.

They already got their money with the purchase of GT5. Also I do not think they care too much about this site as they know most people here just troll  They listen across the board and will make changes but it will be for GT6 and updates if possible

1. Your asking for way to much. Damage? Get over it.
I would agree there is a lot left to be patched and many aspects of this game are still broke including first and foremost, THE ONLINE Peer to peer net coding.
2. Yes, Sony and PD would care if you stopped populating their servers. Why do you think they dangle a new carrot every few weeks in the form of a seasonal or DLC or an update. They need traffic to support the DLC offerings and continue support from manufacturers. Anyone think Acura and Motor Trend want to broadcast car commercials to a non existant market? I don't.
3. This is GTP, a site mostly for irrational fans who want to paint a pretty picture of their beloved game, regardless of what it actually might deserve to have said about it. So no support for your strike. Just don't buy the DLC if you aren't down with the direction of the series.
4. No amount of bullying or commenting will sway the japanese in their approach to this game. It will always be a Japanese style game with a few carrots for North America and Europe to stoke sales. Unfortunately, the makers believe they have made a title that transcends logic because they have a great physics engine and some pretty models. Time will tell. I personally am enjoying quite a bit of Forza as of late and I highly recommend it if your not digging GT5 right now. It has it's quirks too, but it is a much more complete game over all.
+1 to the mods for allowing this thread to live, but they knew you would get no support and a lot of flack instead.
+ 1 to you for at least being upset about the crap Sony/PD offering up as gold and trying to talk about it. Think you should stick to talking about what's broke though and need's fixing as those are reasonable requests to make. Damage and your own personal requests just aren't things to worry about. Stick with the fix what's broke sentiment if you can manage to find or start a thread that allows you to discuss that in detail, which might be impossible here at GTP, but it's worth a shot. I would join you there.

Would they really care... they've sold god knows how many millions of copies now, and of the DLC, they have their money... they're happy.

I really do not want to downplay or act smart but..

You are aware that we're talking about 2005 hardware that current mobile phones are almost making obsolete?

Are you aware how GT5 is entirely made by small dedicated staff of 130 individuals?

You do understand how there is limitation to every plan and how GT5 is actually built on every of the imaginable limitation?

I also presume you know what astonishing difference have all those women and men produced on that same obsolete hardware, with same number of individuals and same limitations from GT5 1.0 to current state of 2.02?

Just asking.
