I need a good way to mount the G27 and have been considering the Playseats EVO. Is this a good piece? How else does everyone have theirs mounted? I need a good stable way to really start using this to its potential.

I have a Playseat Evo with a G25, I love it, might replace the seat tho it's very creaky, also it's a little awkward having the bar, that holds the mounting plate, sit between your legs. You get used to that though. I'd recommend one but if you're anyway handy, it'd be much cheaper to make you're ownView attachment Marcin Race Driver.rar

Ive had my G27 for a month now,its mounted on a Wheel Stand Pro,its solid as rock, really happy with my new set up.

I've posted this link somewhere else on GTP, but I'll post it here too...everything you could ever possibly want to do in terms of making a simpit...

http://www.thewayiplay.com/mainforum/index.php?board=2.0

I've spent hours and hours checking out this site...it's un-freakin-believable some of the simpits that I've seen made here. Have fun!

+1. You'll get tons of idea on how to make your own racing sim from this site. I wanted to make my own to save on cost and maybe make it the way I wanted it to be but in the end I just bought the Obutto racing sim.

I got my G25 mounted on a Speedmaster V2.0

Steering is quite close to my chest, but its ok, theres enough leg room, gear shift holder is a little bit to low, but maybe somebody who is good with metal works can make a better holder ;-)

I picked up a Playseat Evo a month or so back. Haven't used it extensively yet but my only complaint so far is that my back gets awfully hot and sweaty after sitting in it for a bit. It's just the material used on the seat.

Other than that I've been perfectly happy with it. My wife on the other hand...

I'm sure she just doesn't understand the need to be a sim Schumacher.

My apologies if the thread is in the wrong section. I didn't even realize there was a wheels one. I just check the GT5 every once in a while to see if anything major has occured.

No Youtube @ work so I'll have to check some of these things out later.

Got g27 and playseat evo. If I was buying again - would go for something else. Mostly because I like driving with H-shifter and a clutch (means braking with right foot often), but many competitions on this forum ban those so I will also be driving with paddle shifting and braking with left foot. And the metal support in the middle makes it impossible to position the pedals so that I can comfortably drive with the clutch or without, braking with both right and left legs. I think I'll try to search for something like Speedmaster V2, which does not seem to be available in the US.
Also gearshift mount if too low for me, but that's not the major issue.

I have a playseat and the longer I have it, the less happy I am about it.

That metal thing between your legs. Yeah you get used to it but would be better without. Mind you the G25/27 brake is rather hard, when you push it hundreds of times with a slightly sidewards-bent knee, that knee may start to hurt.

It is also not very solid/rigid, seems to have become a little skewed after a few months use.

Then there is a horizontal stitch in the back that you can very well feel.

And for me at least the seat is just not very comfortable. After a short while I literally get a pain in the butt (non-native english speaker here, what is that bone called at the end of the spine, where other animals have a tail attached? You know the way it can hurt if you fall backwards and land on your butt). It helps to move the seat pillow forward to create a little hole behind, but still happens. And I use to think that I am physically totally normal and average.

So... looking out for better seats, without that pillar between the legs.

My brother got his from henardracing. Sorry I don't have any pictures but if you go to the website you will be able to check it out. It was really fun and it didn't cost $1200 or more like some of them do.

^ $200 for a bunch of PVC tubes and some particleboards? No thanks.

I tried the one of similar design (off ebay), and it's junk.

I also have G27 & playseat evolution. The vertical bar between legs disappointed me since mounting. You can choose to mount pedals a bit shifted on the right, if you want to use clutch or heel&toe, or a bit shifted on the left for a proper left foot braking. I preferred the second way. Speedmaster "2 pillars" wheel support is better to reach pedals.

Second problem: I think the wheel mount is too low: I can't see the leds on the wheel, and for Vettel challenge I have to change something. You can raise it but it goes to near to chest. You can shift wheel mounting forward but it can't go across pedals!
No problems with knees and imho the seat is very confortable (I'm 172cm / 5'9" tall).
No idea if there are other cheaper solutions with the same quality, other than diy.

Playseats are garbage. The middle bar is horrible to deal with when trying to heel-toe, and the chair is metal wrapped with flimsy leather. Save yourself a headache and build one or get something else.

Some of them probably are, but this one used the bigger pipe, and plywood not particleboard and was solid. That is also what makes it cost a little more then the other sim racers.

^ ok, to be fair, tubes you used look twice as thick compared to what I had. My issue with the design was not the sturdiness of the construct, but the creaking noises it would make. Both in the joints and in the board holding the wheel. I'm fairly positive that plywood won't be quiet either when faced with max feedback of g27.

I had a Playseat with the G25 back in the day and my agreement with almost everyone chiming in is the same. With that horribly placed bar in the middle heel / toe driving and clutch / h-shifter usage can get tiresome with your legs hitting pedals at awkward angles.

I've since sold that setup back in the GT5:Prologue days and decided after GT5 came out that I would look at investing back into a new wheel/seat setup (needed the funds back then anyways).

I found the MS4R as a much better setup. It's the same exact thing as the Speed Master listed in this thread as well as the Next Level Racing GT Pro and the GT Omega. These are sold and shipped out of Florida in the US.

I got mine not even a week and a half ago off their ebay store for $299 plus $75 shipping. They've since raised the price and I assume it because of all the GT5 seat/wheel craze like we are seeing with the Logitech wheels.

Love the seat, very comfortable, and not to mention it has a built in seat slider, seat back adjusts, and it includes the h-shifter attachment. Much better bang for your buck than the playseat any day imho.

I didn't notice any creaking noises. The only noise I noticed from the steering wheel was when it would make a hard hit on the feedback. But that seemed more like an internal noise then the mounting platform. I seriously doubt metal or any other material would be any quieter when that happens. This thing was solid.

almost, my speedmaster got stabilisation bars left and right.

but sadly no back lean adjustion :-(

Yeah the MS4R is based on the GT Pro version one which didn't have the bars, now you can order the bars from next level racing for $29 + shipping and they bolt right up no issues (GT Pro version two comes standard with them).

Looks like they used a different seat on the speedmaster, the MS4R and the GT Pro / Omega use the same seat with a different logo stitched in it :).
