For almost 5 years of owning a Playseat Evolution, I surely must say that I have definitely got the use out of it and enjoyed it! ...that is until now.

The other day, I decided to complete the last A-Spec Endurance race in GT5 (Nurburgring 24h in a Mazda 787B Race Car) and 3 hours into the race, I noticed something very unusual about the backrest, it was in the area around my shoulders (it was that can feel the spring in the backrest that must be used to support the area where your shoulders and then another 6 hours into the race after that, I can feel the metal bar across my backbone where the chair folds). I usually find the Playseat's to be very comfortable, but no anymore?

I have tried to resolve this issue by stuffing extra foam between the springs and the black felt which covers the original foam, but this doesn't work because the back of the chair bulges out, making it even more uncomfortable. I was really looking forward to GT6, but it doesn't look like I can if my Playseat is on it's way out.

I am now 15 hours into the race, and my shoulders where killing me!
Is there any Playseat owners out here had this problem? Are there a resolution?

I had the exact same issue on my playseat, I had the playseat classic which is an older version of the evolution. I eventually had one of the springs wear through the cover material and poke through. I also tried adding additional padding with no success. My solution came when I purchased an obutto ozone, it was one of the best things I ever did. It is a hundred times more comfortable, I've actually fallen asleep in it one time watching a movie. There's tons of reasons to upgrade, check them out..

Thanks rebbitude, for the moment I am using carpet underlay which is taped to the front of my Playseat, lol. Even so, it is better than nothing! I have been looking at the R-Seat RS Evo V3, this looks very comfortable and no center post, what do you think?

Very many people have basically said that the worst thing about this seat is that it is very uncomfortable. You have to add foam or something to make it more comfortable.

Okay, does anybody know if the playseat will fit any aftermarket automotive bucket seat? I have come across some images and youtube videos of them on the playseat. Will it require any modding to fit one?

It can be done, but usually you need to make an adapter plate out of wood. PLUS as almost every real seat will be thicker than a PlaySeat seat it will raise your seating positon slightly.

If you're looking for cheap rig with a decent seat, try the obutto oZone.

Or I could try to find something to stick on the front to support my back (e.g. adding foam padding and plenty of it to the front)?

If it were just the padding I would say go for it, but the playseat seat just ain't nearly as comfortable as something like an obutto. You can put all the padding on it you want it just dont compare.

So idk if op is still up on this issue but I had the same prob with my SV playseat what I did was go to the medical supply store got a lumbar support about 10-25$ us...which was taller that that bar pice that u can feel. Then I went to a local supply store and got some heavy duty Velcro....had my wife sew the Velcro to the support and just used the sticky side on the playseat ( so it dosnt move easily) and FYI this has fixed me from feeling the bar also the seat is at least to me 100% more comfortable! .....or u can do what my buddy did and was to remove the seat only take it down to a local auto upholstery shop and have them re do it with extra padding but that was a little pricy about 180$ us! Either way should work/help!

I had the same issue with my Playseat Evo after about 4 years of on and off usage. First I bought a car seat pad from Amazon, which helped a little in providing comfort and prevent me from sweating so much during the summer. I originally bought a new CNT Racing Seat, but because the foot pedals weren't independently adjustable I stopped using it. Deciding to replace the seat forced me to make a couple other improvements too.

I found a local welder and took the seat from that, which is great, and the the footplate and mounted it on the Evo footplate so my feet can be a little more separated. Thus providing a more, shall we say, "comfortable racing experience for the groin area".

I also raised the seat up about an inch, so there is that much less bending over I have to do. Tall people hate bending over

But the Playseat Evolution is in my opinion the best seat on the market in terms of price, comfort and flexibility for tall people like me. I'm sure you can just get a nice Recaro seat or something to replace the original one that hurts. Check my sig for pics of my modified Evo 👍
