Who needs a xbox? I gotta PS3!
I went to CES last week & saw the new Thrustmaster wheel, there is a huge thread about it so all I'll say is it's very nice but I won't be replacing my G27.
Instead I saw the new Playseat for GT5 & will get this instead.
It's suspossed to be released Feb 15th for $599.99 & you can get it at PlayseatAmerica.com

I prefer the EVO set-up vs this bar out the crotch setup they use on this and the WRC version...well I guess this is really just the WRC with GT logos on it.

I tried both & the mount for the wheel is more stable than the EVO seat.

I like it, but what's with everything costing $600!?! It's like they found the magic too high number and decided to shoot for it over and over again.

They help develop a great new wheel and then go with this (insert word here) product.
They should've gone with Obutto/GamePOD.

Polyphony and or Sony did not seek ou PlaySeat for this branding. PlaySeat sought this out, just like they do with other officially branded models. Sony whored out the GT license for a handsome paycheck. PlaySeat has to charge a pretty penny to recoup that expense.

Yes, it does appear this current model has more back support. I had stuffed a 6x8 inch x 1" thick piece of dense foam behind the seat civet to add MUCH needed lumbar support.

If Obutto would have sought out the GT license, this would have made the Obutto much more expensive. It would have also dethroned Obutto from being the king of the 'best bang for the buck' budget cockpits.

I see PlaySeat still hasn't dealt with the sore ankle syndrome for left foot brakers by making the angle of the pedal plate adjustable.

What I would like to know is if the crotch bar adjusts to change the angle of the wheel? For instance, if looking at the seat and wheel from the side can the crotch bar be lifted on axis at the crotch so that the side view of the wheel is perpendicular (90 deg.) to the floor? Conversely, can the crotch bar be lowered on axis at the crotch so the wheel angle increases (i.e. 120 deg.) in relation to the floor?

Basically I'd like to know if the stand allows for tilt just as most cars offer. I realize the wheel can be adjusted for proximity to the user while at the same time being lowered or elevated.

Hmmm, I don't know. I've own a Playseat Evolution (basic black) for a little over two years. I generally like it. And I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. But I bought mine from a game store that was going out of business and managed to nab it and the shifter mount for around $285, brand new in the box. For that price, I considered it a good deal. Alcantra or not, if I had to do it all over again, unless they've made some major changes, which there don't seem to be, there's no way in hell I'd pay $600 +tax + shipping + (potentially) the shifter mount. That's over $700 easy and at that price point, you're close to a level where there are better options.

You can buy the playseat EVO for $329 shipped right now so it's still a great value. I have an EVO A1GP and love it! Had to do a little fiddling to get my CS pedals mounted at the right angle and spot but it works great.

I'm thinking I may just get the Playseat EVO-X instead of the GT5 seat.

Besides the higher price for the GT5 branding The bar coming out of the seat would be harder to get in & out of with my bad knees.
The EVO -X looks like a better seat for me.

I checked the website and all the playseats are either in backorder status or out of stock.:indiff:

Just received my playseat gt5 edition and it is extremely stable, all the videos on youtube showing the wrt playseat being extremely wobbly are due to the fact that they used a nob to tighten the wheel tube thats attached to the middle of the seat (from what i've seen in pictures). On the gt5 that tube is actually attached to the frame of the seat with 4 screws.
The little wobble I get (and i mean reeeally little) are not even noticeable when driving, I just notice it when other people are driving.
Since there does not seem to be a lot of people with this seat, I'll try to write a review in a new thread later today :)

I got to play a little on the GT5 seat at my local mall. The adjustment is weird at first since it comes out from under the seat but man, not having any bar to interfere with pedals is great. I am really ready to sell my modified forza 3 playseat and get the GT5 edition.

I have ordered this one , will be reaching me before 16th, Will post pics of the Thrustmaster T500Rs and this ( wonder how the pedals will fit though till the official extension is released)
