Looking for any comments on trying to choose.

Since the bad news came out that the PS4 doesn't support Logitech I'm looking to upgrade to the Thrustmaster T500RS and change my rig at the same time.

I currently have the G25 is a custom built rig which I'm going to sell altogether as I can't sell the G25 on its own because I have none of the pedal casing.

My most important thing is stability as with me current rig been MDF it's solid with no movement.

Thanks.

Hi

I've just taken the plunge on a Gamepod, it's beautifully made and solid, the design is proven and it's expandable. Albeit pricy, there are a couple or three ex photoshoot models on the special offers section of their website including a 'gt2 sport' for £399 Gbp which is less than half full price. They will ship internationally.

It's a substantial piece of furniture and very comfortable.

Hope this helps and doesn't muddy the water too much - just thought I would mention it.

Thanks for the reply mate they look a solid piece of kit and for the extra £100 I could have been tempted but not in red and the RS in blue is out of my price range, thanks again.

There's a blue GT2 sport up on the special offers page now it seems, for £399...previously they only had a red one. That changed yesterday then I guess.

The seats are Cobra models and reupholstered btw.

I have owned 2 Gamepod GT2's and would not recommend it to others. The design is very old and outdated. The seating position is much too upright and the wheel deck wobbles too much, unless you bolt on some additional braces yourself. But even if you do that, the metal used for the wheel deck itself is still too thin and flexible, which makes it bend slightly under load. I have the rSeat RS1 now, which IMO is much better value and feels infinitely more solid.

I agree that the RS1 is really nice looking - I hankered after one but for me, in the UK, it was beyond my budget (particularly as the shipping was very expensive). I only really plumped for the Gamepod because it was heavily discounted having been made for a corporate event and was being sold off at substantial discount.

I think 'outdated' is unfair, and I haven't noticed the wheel deck flex with a T500 - anyway it suits me so I'm happy although I will concede the RS1 is much prettier - there's no denying it, it's a fact. I think the workmanship on the Gamepod is super, and each to their own eh. If the OP reads this, then I think the Gamepod at #399 in the UK is worthy of consideration vs nearly #800 for the RS1 and as his original request was concerning a Playseat or GT Omega, I think the Gamepod is a worthy alternative.

I wouldn't dream of anything near 800 and the Gamepod at 400 was off putting for the extra 100 with no side support.

The GT Omega looks a lot more solid but was hoping someone with one could comment as they only distribute from Glasgow with no showroom.

The annoying thing is a feel push into all this because of Thrustmaster and Sony but what are the options ?

Not that I would sway you away from the revolution, but after 6 months of using it I know there are better Cockpits out there. The wheel base after time of hard use will wobble quite a bit, nothing that will prevent you from performing while racing, but to me it is rather annoying.

The seat position along with the adjustibility of the pedal base is extremely nice along with being very functional. The center post while a step above the Playseat Evolution, I still feel is not the best design. There is minor discomfort when going for a heel - toe maneuver.

The seat is comfortable enough that after running the 24 hueres of Lemans along with several other endurance races I run does not hurt your posture at all. I have not yet swapped out that seat for my Corbeau seat sitting in my garage which I have been wanting to do. It would add a set of sliders to the seat base along with a seat I know will be comfortable for hours on end.

All in all I would give the revolution a solid 7.5 out of 10.

After getting used to a solid DIY set up, it may be difficult to find an affordable, equally stable, retail solution. The idea of something ready made, and ready to go is enticing, but if you are used to zero wobble you won't be easily satisfied I suspect.

Chances are it's going to take either more money or more work than what you're hoping for. I have three complete rigs: a DIY only, a cheap retail with DIY mods, and an expensive retail. The expensive option goes into the thousands of dollars region and it's still not quite as rock solid as my DIY only set up.

A bit of lateral thinking can go a long way. I saw dumped shopping trolley the other day that once pulled apart would have worked really well in creating a rig. Still had a perfect chrome finish as well. Things built for other purposes are often way stronger and can be found cheap or free. This is one of the all time best re-purposed rigs I reckon: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7166632#post7166632
