First off, this isn't a review. I only review games once I have beaten them. This one will take some time, so don't expect one from me soon. Don't read this if you haven't seen the ending to Final Fantasy X yet because it does contain spoilers.
Genre
This is an RPG by Square Enix.
The Story
Basically it starts two years after the ending of Final Fantasy X. You see Rikku and Paine (the new girl that looks somewhat like Lulu) in dark hallways in an arena. You then see someone who looks like Yuna singing with dancers in the backround. She goes through this big song while Rikku and Paine beat down some guards. It turns out that the singer is really an imposter and the game's main characters are introduced. As the story progresses you learn that Yuna is part of a group called the Gullwings, who search around Spira for spheres (these are basically video tapes). You learn Yuna suddenly left soon after Sin was defeated because she found a sphere with Tidus (her love from the last game) in it and he still may be alive. Thus the journey begins.
As I said, I've only played for a couple of hours so I don't know as much as I should.
Gamplay, Sound, Graphics, etc.
This game is geared towards girls. Teenage girls. They changed Yuna's whole attitude a bit and made her more energetic. Rikku is still the same and old characters make an appearance. Did I mention they all wear really skimpy outfits too?
The game is divided into chapters (I'm not sure how many). You start out with the airship and you can go anywhere. This gives you tons of freedom and it gets hard to stay on track unless you have a stragey guide. They do have numerous links to the old story in Final Fantasy X so that helps to keep you focused. They threw out the sphere grid from Final Fantasy X and went back to leveling. They did, however, keep the spheres, only this time, they are dress spheres. To tell you the truth, for the first hour, I was still confused about the battle system, the dress spheres, garment grids and, well, a lot of other things. I'm guessing that this will take time to get used to. The battles aren't turn based like FFX but are almost in real time. The pace of fighting is extremely fast so it's hard to link together attacks efficiently. You have to think fast all of the time, or you get beat up by your foe.
The same voice actors from FFX return for this game. The word fit is improved and the voice acting is excellent. The character's emotions are expressed very well. The music is upbeat and energetic. The graphics have been slightly improved but not enough to make much difference.
Summary
So far, I'm impressed. Even if it's a little complicated. I just hope that this one is as good as FFX. I'll write a full review with scores and stuff when I finish. Questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome!
