Ok, so here is the idea. You post in which game you think has the best of a certain area, say graphics, and then say which game you think has the worst. I can't really think of many catergories, so I am going to leave you to make up your own, which is probably a good thing since I am sure most people are a lot better at this than I am. It does not need to be a game you own, you just need to have played it or seen a video of it. Here is an example of what you need to do...

Example: Sound

Best Sound: Need for Speed Prostreet Worst Sound: Gran Turismo 4

I don't think you can call what you do in MC3 "Drifting". It's more like short to medium powerslides.

Best art style (non traditional):

Best Racing Simulator Physics: Enthusia Pro Racing
Worst Racing Simulator Physics: Forza

Note that this does not include arcade style racing games. I couldn't compare those anyway as I really don't own any.

Most creative idea for a racing game: Crash team racing
Least creative idea for a racing game: Gran Turismo 3

Just didn't see a lot of new ideas in GT3. CTR always brings back great memories though.

Come to think of it why is this a PS2 thread? Wouldn't it be better if it included all game systems?
 
The best background music - Medal of Honor: Frontline - great symphony orchestra music.

The worst background music - WRC II Extreme - horrible, hard to even name the genre.

Best: Kaido Racer 2 (Kaido Battle 3 / TXR: Drift 2)
Daiki Kasho soundtrack behind a NSX and a S15 drifting, Genki never does wrong with their racing game videos.

Worst: Knight Rider
Shoddy ripoff of the original, plus it makes you think you can do more than drive KITT around... which you cant.
 
I'll only comment my favourite games (GT3/4P/4, EPR, TRD3, LM24H), so the word "worst" is just "worst among them"


Best simulation of Endurance Racing: Le Mans 24 Hours

Best graphics: GT4:Prologue
Worst graphics: Le Mans 24 Hours



Best AI: TRD3
Worst AI: GT4 (could be me, but the AI in GT4 annoyed me more than in GT3)


Best physics: Enthusia
Worst physics: Le Mans 24 Hours


Biggest game: GT4 (a litle too big, I think. Thanks B-Spec)
Smallest game: Enthusia

Best "replayability": TRD3 (the online play makes it endlessly replayable)
Worst "replayability": GT4 (once you've done the 100%, you'll never go back. I didn't)
 
You thought GT4's endurance simulation was worse than EPR?
 
Thanks for all the replys. It's great to hear different peoples opinions. And I checked out Le Mans 24 hours graphics by the way Hun200kmh, and they are bad like you said. They were like Playstation one graphics, but just a lot more solid. I also agree with you on Gran Turismo 4 Prologue having the best graphics! :) 👍

I just watched the intro, and it had guns coming out of the bonnet and shooting human opponents. Can you not do that?
 
Exactly. How could it be better than GT4 if it doesn't exist? Technically you could do endurance with a high number of laps, and that's obviously a very bad representation of endurance, but I see what you're getting at. You're comparing the ones that actually tried to include realistic endurance races. I agree with your choices there.
 
Best driving game: GT4

Worst Driving Game: NFS Carbon

Best RPG: GTA:SA

Worst RPG: Lord of the Rings. It was a gift. We will leave it at that.
 
best RPG games -Star Wars Battlefront I & II
being able to play as ANY character from ALL the movies is RIDICULOUS!
i don't know how they pulled it off, but those games are insane!
as a star wars fan from the 70's, i can appreciate the time they put into it!

for some reason my kids still love playing it (in fact they are playing it RIGHT NOW!)
i think the cars drives like the old crappy ridge racer games- and i hate drift games....
to pass that game i just had to memorize the shortcuts and get lucky... not too challenging, but some of the soundtracks rock!👍

Best re-playability - JET MOTO! Driver! THPS 1-4!
(sure, they came out for the PS1, but i still throw them in the PS2 from time to time! That tells you something!):sly:

Driving simulation?! I doubt it was ever aimed as a sim, its an arcade racer.

I owned that game for a short time. (my old roommate bought it and left it at my house for some reason). That is without a doubt one of the worst games I have ever played. Horrible physics. Horrible graphics. Nearly unplayable. I didn't think much of the intro video either. Not sure what you're on about?

Oh my god, finally someone that has a reasonable evaluation of this game as did I! What a turd of a game....👎 The physics were so horrible, the F&F Tokyo drift game that came out was horrible also and everyone like it, whats the problem guys?

Best PS2 moment: When I first bought it and played SSX Tricky. :D
Worst PS2 moment: When I dropped my PS2 and scratched my GT4 CD. It was the 2nd time I had to repair my PS2 :banghead: (the laser was scratched and burned..... :ouch:)

Best NFS game: Hot Pursuit 2
Worst NFS game: ProStreet

Best Rallying=any of the colin mcrae rally games

WRC 2 Extreme had pretty horrendous rallying (ironic being the offical rally game!)... everything was fine but the physics were ridiculous, but they sorted if in WRC3.

i've never liked the WRC games (i bought all and i didn't like how the cars handled)

Yeah, I wish I had bought Colin Mcrae Rally 3 when it came out along side WRC2... but I was won over by the full list of real courses and all the licensed cars.. was a silly choice in the end although the now old school ITV commentary and stuff included in the game is nice to see now and then.
