Actually I take X-Play to be the *most* biased show on the network. They heavily favor certain um..."titles" for certain "systems"...and um...they are rarely level headed in their opinons. That entire show is drivin on the personal Bias of Adam Sessler, and Morgan just taggs along (she really doesn't know much about video games)
To this I say that they don't write the show, and that it was far better when techTV still ran it.
And while your talking about personal bias for systems and companies, must I mention that the entire network that is not X-Play has done nothing but lombast the PS3 for it's price, controller and every other niggle they can think of. Not to mention the entire network has done nothing but kiss the ass of individual companies (cough cough, EA, cough cough) since the networks very inception over 3 years ago.

And if MS's cut was so huge, how do you explain the $40 price tag of TDU?
I don't know. How do you explain the PC and PS2 ports that cost $60, a.k.a. the entire launch line-up.

And if MS's cut was so huge, how do you explain the $40 price tag of TDU? Cheapest 360 game yet. And probably bound to piss off a bunch of other developers when fans start complaining even more about overpriced games, especially since Atari's showing them that it is possible to release a low-priced 360 game.

Correction to that: TDU is the second game to start at $40. Table Tennis by Rockstar was the first.

Ah.. Anyone else remember the ol' Neo Geo? The Playstation 3 might be joining that little relic of a console..

About the Neo Geo

From wikipedia.org

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Geo_(console)

Not the rediculous Neo Geo comparison again. There is about a 2000% increase of people who would spend that much on a system today comapared to 1990. Few people would spend $1000 on a pc for that matter in 1990. times have changed.

Check this out.

By the way Neo Geo was 2% of what PS3 is. In fact that old $700 system has been emulated on Sonys handheld.

I don't try to explain it. I call it bulls**t. I call it Electronic Arts. I call it "ripping people off with 'next-gen' pricing".

Don't ask me what's going on, I don't write the frikkin' pricing scale.

For what it's worth, I don't intend on buying games at "full price" if it's more than $50. I'll wait a couple weeks until used copies start showing up, or take advantage of cheaper games. I got PGR3 for thirty bucks new. TDU is forty bucks new.

If they keep dropping prices quickly like that, or more developers start releasing games at lower prices, the high-priced ones like EA will have no choice but to follow suit.

Well, over here, PS2 games like GTA: San Andreas and the various Tekken games cost upto 450NIS - that's when converted to dollars according to the curren 4.5NIS-1$, results in a very pricey 100$ per game. Some (and I repeat' only some) games are sold at 200NIS, after two years or more. GT3 is still sold at 300NIS...

So, when thinking about the fact that a new Slimline PS2 (like mine) costs a converted 300-350$, I expect the PS3 to cost around 700+$, and the games, well, will cost as much as my apartment.

Cyril will better plan on keeping the GT4 WRS alive. I'm not moving to the PS3 in the next 3-4 years...

Ok we finally found out, that the games won't cost 100 $, so let's change the title....

In January of '82 the Apple IIe computer debuted, priced at $1,395 usd.
By June that year the millionth apple IIe had rolled off the assembly line
By November of '84 Two million had been sold.

The Apple Lisa was a failure, though, but it also costed 10-times more... A stunning 10000$ for a graphical interface.

1. I didn't say the discs would cost above $60

2.I'm talking about them losing money on the manufacturing of the system itself.

3. Sony is the one who will make the most money, With Nintendo.

True. Truth be told, the Pioneer Laseractive CLD-A100 would be a better comparison to the PS3 than the NEO-GEO. But a good way to piss people off who use that comparison is this: The NEO-GEO was supported for 14 years.

The System it self will cost 500 (US) Dollars for the 20 gigabyte version

Also the 60 Gig version will cost 600 US Dollars

I'm like one of the cheapest members on the gtplanet, but I always thought the games like GT3 and GT4 were worth $100. Replay value and amount of work they put into these games makes them worth that much to me. On the other hand, I think majority of games are worth $20-$30, new.

New Playstation is going to be $500 - $600, so $100 games wouldn't be shocking to me at all. Other than the GT games, I don't take videogames that seriously anymore anyways.

Yeah, 14 years is a long time to support a console. And most Neo Geos are worth a lot more then they were bought for.. ok.. ok.. bad example... : \

The bowling alley I go to still has Neo Geo in it, But then, most places still do.

And what would your point be? 2million $1000 PCs sold, thats about what 80% of the geek community at the time. Also many apple PCs sold for businesses to replace all the hand written spread sheets and databases or obsolete computers. But in 1990 not many people cared for computers enough to spend that much on one. Yeah there are people who will, then there are more who wouldn't, being my point.

Yes, but this is the low cost alternative to a Blu-Ray player, plus a gaming console. A good deal, but expensive by our standard.

Still why does it cost so much to make these things?
I doesn't, in the cost of the games the publisher probably takes the biggest slice of profit. You ahve the developers who have to make up the cost of developing the game, you have the publishers who pay for manufacture, packaging and distribution, then you have the shops who have to pay for running the shop ie electricity, staff ect.

...Did anyone read the Kaz interview on GameSpot? It was interesting, and once again pointed out that production hasn't begun on the PS3 yet. Anyone up for shortages on a scale larger than that of the 360? If that is the case, Microsoft and Nintendo stand to make a heavy gain in market share, theoretically of course...

Meanwhile, Sony could use the iron-grip they have on some PlayStation-fanboys to raise prices until the shortage diminishes. I could even see Sony selling PS3s on "other channels" during the shortage, at high prices...

They haven't started making them yet, only two months from release?

WTF Batman, its the Joker!

Or it could be a giant bluff... maybe they have a million units ready! Who knows...... if its true then I seriously am starting to get annoyed with Sony because they have messed up so much with this whole PS3 thing so far!

..... There isnt really a PS3..... is was a joke that got out of hand and now Sony is trying to con us! You open your PS3 box and some 'suspicous' gas comes out and you start to think WOW the graphics are amazing! soooo real!!...OMG I love Sony! and suddenly the motion sensing controller starts to make sense!.... WOW, its like your actually there!

Or maybe there is no PS3, its all a big hoax, and when you get the box , theres a note that says "GOTCHA"

Nah. Sony breifly expirimented with that during the PS2 launch, and oddly enough found that there was a negative reaction to that practice.

I won't be buying a PS3 until well after it is launched here most likely. Due to costs and reduced interest in gaming.
