Has anyone here connected a Logitec or Fanatec steering wheel to the PS4 to see it is works or not?

Logitech confirmed they are working on drivers for the PS4, which means Fanatec compatibility.

Cool, I have a Logitec and 2 Fanatec wheels here and most of my friends have Fanatec wheels. GT7 is a ways off but nice to know the wheels will likely work when it is here.

Granted it was a long time ago but I think my PS3 was just in cardboard too. Was like 2007 though so....

My PS3 came in a very think corrigated cardboard box with more carboard compartments inside. I still have the box and you could probably stand on it if you were careful. Worried looking at the pics that that PS4 box is quite flimsy, i guess thats cost cutting for you.

For those who have a PS4 in Europe, could you check to see if it has 'Made in China' or Made in Japan' on it, so the rumours can be confirmed or busted?

Yeah, can others chime in on this, might have been a hoax.

On Neogaf yesterday people from countries like Finland were reporting made in Japan while most other countries in the EU have made in China. Rough guess would be 20-30% made in Japan.

Still got my PS3 60gb box, its pretty soild but the Original was a big heavy beast. The cardboard inside is folded in such a way to absorb all shock and bounce freely. Ps4 cardboard inside is only going to transfer shock in my opinion. It doesn't leave much room for error.

My box also says "Made in China". I'm not worried though.
I am, however, a bit annoyed by the fact (?) that the US got a 10 dollar coupon with their consoles, and Europe, or at least Denmark, doesn't get anything. Seriously, what gives?

Hmmm, I wonder if there is a Nordic / Continental EU split? I wonder what the UK is getting. If there was indeed a mixture I would demand a Japanese one hands down.

Might be why some were dead on arrival, Sony stated damage during shipping occurred.

I never said that!

I never said you did!

Welcome to rip off Europe where things on sales are even more expensive than normal price in North America.

One UK retailer was offering a £10 voucher when you spend over £100 Pounds which the PS4 qualifies for but that's about it, still £150 more expensive than the US for no reason. :grumpy:

Yeah you did. You have me quotet as saying it!

Yeah, it sucks about the prices. However, Killzone Shadow Fall is actually cheaper on PSN that it is in any store that I could find in Denmark. Although only by 1DKK in some cases.

Still, I'm not sure I can justify spending 495DKK (66 Euros or 55 pounds) on that game. Just doesn't look as good as KZ2...

Other than totally different rates of duty, tax, shipping costs, economies of scale per country and localisation costs.

Its annoying that we pay more for stuff in Europe than in the US, but to say its for no reason is inaccurate (you may not like or agree with those reasons - but that doesn't mean they don't exist). Its also important to remember that nmost US prices are before sales tax has been added, while European prices are after sales taxes have been added.

Something odd is happening with the site then  This is what I'm seeing this end...

We are going to have to disagree on this one. From what I have found companies do it because they can and make up excuses.

Ship docks on edge of EU country, ship dock on edge of US.... 1500 miles to truck it to Best Buy in Kansas and we pay more to truck it to the Midlands! US has the same standard of living, equally high levels of pay and logistics costs, if anything getting things distributed around the states should cost more because of distances. Yes tax rates vary by state but its still cheaper.

The trucking operators often need to bid against each other in these situations, with the lowest winning the contract - just standard capitalist practice.

This isn't new either but very similar to one of the situations that sparked the first French Revolution, where coal mining families, instead of getting paid, had to bid and sell the coal they mined for the cheapest amount to the land owner. They did this in the hope of being cheap enough for the lord to continue allowing them to work for him. People predictably starved, but the system continued until the revolution kicked off.

Finally managed to score a PS4 :) and all is now installed, patched and set up very quickly. Now though I need to sleep whilst my wife goes on a murder spree in Killzone: SF :D Havin' the time of her life she is...

Will be interesting to see what you guys make of the PS4 - the launch of the PS4 has largely passed me by... I reckon I am not enough of a 'gamer' any more to warrant buying a PS4 at launch... coupled with the fact that GT6 is about to come out for PS3 and take up any gaming time I may have devoted to a PS4, and I have precisely no reasons left to buy a PS4 yet. I reckon I will invest in one eventually, but it will probably not be until GT7 comes out before I can even remotely justify the expense of replacing my PS3. Incidentally, my second PS3 celebrated it's 3rd birthday a few days ago, and it is quite happy in the knowledge that it will not be being replaced any time soon!! In the meantime, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see just what I'm missing...

Why replace? The games that were great on the PS3 will remain great. So why not keep it, alongside any new console?

I'll definitely be keeping my PS3, but it's the 'alongside' idea that I don't like much. The PS3 made the PS2 redundant and I was happy with being able to use just the PS3, which along with all the PS2 functionality it originally had, the PS3 far outstripped the PS2 by being online and a Blu-ray player as well. But I don't see the point in running a PS3 and a PS4, when the PS3 can do everything I want it to, and all the PS4 can add is new games - esp. when the one new game I want right now is not even a PS4 title.

Incidentally, on Playstation network on the PS4, can you still see people on PS3s, and use PS Home etc., or is it all separate?

You can see friends who are on the PS4, PS3 and Vita but you can't use Home.

You can see all your friends in the so called "playstation environment" (PS3/PSV/PS app and PS4). Also their activities and whatnot.

As for having it alongside a PS3, I found myself in the same situation and is not that viable at the moment, specially considering that you have to pay for online of PS4 (free to play don't count though, and PSN+ does offer some good free games for PS3 and PS Vita like Uncharted 3 and Uncharted for PSV).

I would hold until P-cars or Watch_Dogs hit shelves, as of now there is only one game I play and nothing else that justified the priced I paid (the experience is extended by the Vita though, which I'm ironically using more).

I'm running both,

Admittedly I sold all my PS3 games except The Last of Us as that's such an amazing game I want to play the single player DLC, but I also have GT6 on pre order so ill also be playing that.

I won't get anything else on PS3, but as it's also my only 3D disc player I'll still be using it for playing those!

I think it is worth waiting to get PS4 until when you can get games that you want. Hopefully in a year or two, the Slim Version comes out which is when I will get one for myself. Hopefully they also upgrade the ARM chip (And hopefully it is ARMv8 based) so it is powerful enough to download in low power state unlike Launch version console which is disappointing. Also OS will be updated so it should have more functionality, games should be cheaper to buy and console should have a bigger library of games.

Gaikai streaming will be also out then but I prefer if they allowed PS1 and PS2 emulation directly on the console too. I played some Fifa 14 yesterday and in one game the ball disappeared, it only came back once I closed the game and started it back up again . Point is there should be less bugs in games later on ideally. PS4 seems a very good console for GT to shine on so looking forward to that. Stuff they are doing on PS3 looks like it is built for PS4 in mind, whether it be UI or graphics effects. I don't think you will miss out on much, stuff you can catch up quite quickly if you got console later on and experience it better, what the console has to offer.

Your PS+ membership spans all accounts, so you can still get the free PS3 games and play them there :)

@Touring Mars I'm sure an increasing number of games will appear that might appeal to you in the next six months, so it's a good call to keep an eye on this thread. My biggest problem right now is getting my wife off the PS4 so that I can have a go :sly:

I'm keeping my original fat PS3. I sold the other two I used for GT5 triple screen and all my games, apart form GT5 and last of us, to soften the blow in having to buy a Xbone and ps4. Made over £500 in total for trading in all my last gen stuff so one console and games was taken care of. Need to finish Last of Us and will be getting GT6 so no reason to get rid of it. Just waiting for my replacement PS4 to turn up tomorrow as my first was DOA on Friday :(

Logitech confirmed they are working on drivers for the PS4, which means Fanatec compatibility.

I haven't seen any confirmation. I have seen that Logitech is 'working' on something to see if current wheels will work, but no confirmation.
I'd love this, as I own a DFGT and a CSR

Resogun is so addicting, especially once you figure everything out. My brother and I spent the whole weekend passing the controller back and forth, just like the good old days.

Great PS4 launch advert shown on TV - The Players, Since 1995. I don't know if they have a similar version in other countries....

Well my replacement PS4 turned up yesterday. Update via USB when very smoothly and I had the chance to play a little bit of AC and Killzone last not. Not that impressed by AC but Killzone definitely showcases the new console. You're all very welcome to add me for some MP fun.

I actually didn't need to use the USB trick when we got ours on Sunday, just connected to the web and it did it's bit in a minute or two. My connection ever since, despite being just 20mb/s PSN hasn't given me any grief whatsoever.
