And a few its direct competitor can't do or charges for as well.
So in essence very little to be worthy of note.
The big impact was a cost of between $105 and $250 million on top of that as well.

While MS has certainly had issues with hacked accounts its not been even close to the scale or impact that Sony have had, and while I'm 100% sure security has improved the damage is already done.
The cost was an added blow but I think the main thing is what I mentioned before and probably the embarrassment.

Xbox Live has not been hacked as far as I know.

A rather huge assumption on your part I believe, but its good to see the predicted back-track starting.

MS charges for on-line and its a rip off and should be free.
Sony do it and it will be of far more value.
It is going on basis of offering more value that PS Plus currently does and I would assume they would tie this into it if they did. It is not me back tracking, just acknowledging history but I think it is highly unlikely they will charge you to play online.

My point exactly.
And a point of mine too.

No one gives away cloud storage, you may not pay for it directly, but web sites get revenue from it one way or another.

The key point here however is that Sony do charge for it.
Skydrive is free by Microsoft and gives 7GB. I don't really see much in the revenue making department in there though if you just keep a free account.

Hopefully both Microsoft and Sony don't charge for it on their next consoles for a basic storage amount.

As I am for a few features on the PS3.

I don't get exclusive demo access, discounts off games and DLC and cloud storage for free on PSN either.

Sony have already started this process.
At least you get demos at the same time as Xbox Live Gold members on PSN, the free XBL members have to wait a week after XBL Gold, PS3 and PC if it is a multiplatform game with no exclusivity.

If and when Sony match PSN you might have a point, but you are missing one very large factor in all this.

Sony needs income and one very easy way of getting it is to charge for on-line access, anyone doesn't think that's a factor quite frankly is not looking at this in the same way Sony have to (as a business).

I do however love the Sony not taking MS serious, are yo honestly that naive?
PSN can already do what Xbox Live can do. Just needs hardware and software that is capable to show it and PS4 should comfortably display this.

They need income but do they think of short term or long term. If they think short term of paying for online which might work out long term, there is a large risk of it coming back at them negatively. Creating a divide that PS Vita, PS3 is free to use network while PS4 won't be is not good for the PlayStation community. It also makes their competitor more attractive proposition.

They did not take Microsoft serious enough going by what happened with the PS3. This time though I think they have learned their lessons and will be making sure all areas are covered as much as they can.

While it will be interesting to see what today will bring you would have to be mad to discount MS as a player in the next generation and certainly Sony's track record for the last few console releases don't bode well at all.

Personally (having bought every PS at launch) I want them to turn things around, but they are not just going to get my money blindly. Quite frankly both Sony and MS have brought sold products to the market place this generation, it will be interesting to see if they can do the same again.
I am just saying that on rumours, it is rather worrying if a lot of it is true in regards to Microsoft's new console. If they do the opposite of some of these rumours they should be extremely competitive. Microsoft should really go all out on this new console as they got the financial power to do so, they could strengthen their market share by a good margin, but if the rumours are true, they are doing a big own goal, a bit like with what they have done with Windows 8.

Personally I never bought a console on launch, I think PS1 and PSP I got 3-4 years after release, PS2 after about 5 years after release. PS3 I think was earliest about 1-2 years after release if I recall correctly. I will only get PS4 early if a GT game comes out on launch. If not I will wait until one comes out and possibly also wait for a die shrink too but depends on if there is a GT Academy coming out on it before then or not.

Should be exciting but hopefully not disappointing PS Meeting.

100$ We will hear the word "innovation" more than 572 times

 Alright gents lets do a Drinking game

First rule is the one I stated any more conditions? :P

I'm taking the under. They will say 'revolutionary' a few hundred times really cutting into the 'innovation' opportunities.

That's gonna waste me  Like the one in How I Met Your Mother...

Maybe add "future" to the list of drinky words.

Heritage
Brand
IP
Visceral
Definitive
Exciting

You could probably add practically every connotatively-positive superlative, too.

I don't know why people keep comparing PS+ and XBL, they're very different services.

Allowing us to do exactly the same thing. Buy games and play them on-line

Yeah, no. One is essentially a game rental service offering you full games (online and offline) for 'free' so long as you keep your subscription. If you don't, you lose the game entirely. Xbox Live lets you play an of your purchased games online but it doesn't rent you games as a whole like PSN. Like I say, they offer two different services.

There are a few walls of text around that I can't really be bothered to read through but I thought people were saying paying for PS+ is fine but paying for XBL isn't because PS+ actually does things that are useful but XBL is mainly just so you can play online, which should be free.

I just thought... Battlefield 3 lets console players rent servers like a PC game would, right, so does that mean if you're renting a server for the 360 version, you're paying to play the game online on a server you're paying for? That's horrible!

Yes exactly like you said, apples and oranges, PS+ gives you free AAA games while Xbox live gives you online play, which you already have on the psn, so Ps+ and psn is a better deal, and also cheaper

Yes, yes it is.

We just lost neogaf

If they show GT6 we'll probably lose gtplanet as well

EDIT: its back up, but who knows for how long.

edit2: and down again

Yeah, if they show GT6 I'm sure we'll break the all time user record of over 7k

The first 30 minutes (at least) are probably just going to be a build up, showing the history of PlayStation and what-not. Put it this way, its going to be a while before there is any mention of '4' ;)

Probably this, but it would be nice to have no fluffing. Just straight out with the good stuff please!

I have to say I am surprised this hasn't leaked, aside from the rumors about the specs we know nothing. In this day and age and no leaks I am surprised.
