Should I buy it or am I better dusting off the PS3 and getting back into GT6? I need a good racing game to fill the gap between now and project cars release. At £20 it seems worth it but some of the reviews don't look that good.

It is no GT but an arcadey racer with a solid foundation in physics. For a quick spin I adore it, but do not spend longer stretches of time on it as I did with GT. GT has more staying power with you earning money and spending it on cars and upgrades. DriveClub is well worth your money IMHO, especially at a lower price. As for the PS Plus edition - that topic has been discussed to death.

DRIVECLUB is easily worth £20. It is a great arcade game and will more than see you through until Project Cars finally releases.

The reviews are based on the initial launch version while is a very game compared to what we have now. I bought the upgrade and Season Pass and have no regrets whatsoever. I am always looking forward to more content releasing.

Thanks for the input. What's the deal with PS plus edition? It says full game. I just thought it was discounted for PS plus members.

I was hoping with updates and the like that things would have got better. Is the physics comparable to that of GT6?

Like it says, Driveclub PS Plus Edition is the full game but discounted for PS Plus members. If you're not a PS Plus member, you pay for the normal retail price.

If you get yourself down to a Game store in the high street why not just buy a pre-owned one some were down to £12 and most are unwanted bundle ones (like new) when I was in there the other week most are £14-15 for the full disc-Even £20 for a new one is not a lot of money for the game at some places- as lots of other GT users who took the decision on here have all loved it and you might even end up buying the season pass which is the first one I have brought and think it is great value if you love all the new concept and new cars F50's/Vipers/ZR1/Lambos etc every month.

You won't be disappointed especially at the prices above- It fits in nicely along side GT/Forza as a quick jump in and play game - Just have in your mind it is a "fun" fast enjoyable and addictive arcade racer now with updated online racing and time trials, dynamic full weather (lots of rain but you can choose weather/time of day on your own race/time trials) with up to 50 tracks I think including race tracks, circuits and point to point racing but not full on arcade or sim handling a nice compromise easy to get into and realistic interiors, real engine sounds and stunning scenery--A hard tour/career and tons of Free DLC to download to catch up on and monthly updates and support with changes every month to make it better..It is quick to select a race and very quick loading times and lots of info on FB or twitter and here-Photo mode on it is great too ;) (see thread) 👍

Ok. I'll go by a pre owned one then. That way if I am bored of it by the time Pcars comes out I can trade it back in

Thanks all. Will let you know how I get on with it. Hopefully have time to pick one up tomorow.

Shame on you suggesting that :mischievous: What about supporting the guys who made the game you have enjoyed so much.

@MeanElf Yeah sorry ;) haha I was just trying suggest it was very cheap everywhere (I paid pre-order in Sep14 special edition version £50ish !+ a season pass) I guess Evo had some profit with the original sale or from the bundles. I still think it is good value for the time I spend on it compared to other racing games- Of course I recommend supporting Evo first :bowdown:It is still cheap from the PS store or new now. ..A bargain now even if he doesn't like it - nothing to lose 👍

No worries, I was only messin' (slightly ;))

Got it! £15 plus £1 disk insurance for a year. In the ps4 now currently downloading over 7gb of updates. Good thing I won't have time to play it for another hour or so!

Pre-owned or shop price new? Mind you, I saw The Crew last week for £15 so maybe that's the way of game offers.

Pre owned. The new price probably wasn't that much more but didn't look around as was pushing my luck for time as it was.

I got the crew shortly after it came out for £55 only for game to slash the price to £25 less than a month later. I bought it again for the £25 price then made the wife go in 5 minutes later to return the £25 game with the £55 receipt! . Terrible game, traded it in long ago. Was on the pre owned shelf next to DC for £22.99.

So, did you get a chance to play any of the game last night?

Yes. First impressions are good. It's not sim racer but I think it will make a good arcade type, less serious racing game.

Few hours in and although I'm enjoying the game I'm struggling to find the need/want to play it. There's no excitement factor for me nothing to make me keep wanting to play more. What's missing?

What's missing?

You the community challenges maybe?
Or getting all the stars ("damn, I need a time of 1:15 for getting the last star. got 1:15.236, so restart should do the job easily ... [3 hours later] ... 1:15.020 **** this **** for today!" [player is still playing the same event over and over again]
Trying to set up even better times than before.
To get better and better with a specific choosen car.
Making good-looking pictures thanks to the photo mode.
Looking to the great weather effects.
Successful finishing the Venom Hot Lap Event
PlayStation Plus to play online.
Playing it more first..
Getting all the trophies
Finish the mile stones
See the ghost of the slighty better driver than you and getting motivated to own his time hard!
Joining a club
The monthly free car
Fame Fame Fame
The season pass
and after that
You the community challenges maybe?
Or getting all the stars
Trying to set up even better times then before.
...

To be honest, I had the same problem as you and it seems like, that everyone had it. Game is a grower. I was highly disappointed to the start, I hated even the handling and even much more the drift system (my favorite mode in the game by far today). Also the game was unfinished as hell, no weather effects, no challenges, soul-less at all finishing race to race. Had no reason to play it again, but somehow I wanted to get all the stars and the courses tightened me to the game. They are beautiful AND great to race, love them! And then, little by little this game got finished.. starting with the incredible weather effects, very good photo mode and so on. Even free DLC packs and cars. Of course I wanted to test them, so I come always back to Driveclub. After long wait, the community challenges were finally available. I love rival modes in games, played Mirror's Edge to death for example. So unless to say I love the challenges from the community! They're like new events, just without stars but competitors. Sometimes the events are very creative or funny. Motivation level to beat my friend times is always there, which is fun.

I love the afterwards support from the develop team, even after getting insulted much. My respect. And they still want to hear our wishes for making Driveclub an even better game. They are supporting us monthly, so I wanted to support them and bought the season pass (best season pass ever, I say that as a season pass hater). After that I

played the community challenges
or tried to get all the stars
tried to set up even better times than before.
...

Damn, so much love and perfect english grammar skills like MeanElf.

*cleaning history again* :p

Now for the really serious part. Search a player/driver on your skill level, so search for players that bought the game few days ago. Ask him to be your (friendly) main rival in the game and the other way around. Sent challenges like Hot Lap to each other and have fun, beating each other. This is always working for me to want to play a game. Best thing about it is that you will get better and better without realizing, thanks to the improvements.

Have fun with the game and good luck finding your missing puzzle piece! Also sweet dreams about the Venom Hot Lap. :)

Great post. Thanks for all the advice. I haven't given up on this game yet. It's good but like I said there's something I'm missing. Im sure it's in your list somewhere!

I'll try the online stuff this weekend. I've created a club but it's not active get as I'm the only member. Need to find a few people to join and hopefully the club challenges will get my mojo going for this game.

So after about 3 weeks I can honestly say I've gave this game a good go. The outcome? I've went back to GT6 on the PS3. The game is just not for me. Thanks for the advice guys. I wouldn't of gave this game half a chance of it weren't for the replies on here but I'm glad I did even though in the end the outcome is the same.

Well, that's fair enough. A shame you didn't like it but in the end, it wasn't for you but at least you tried it and so can say so with conviction :)

Traded it back in today for £11.50. So an overall loss of £3.50 if you don't include £1 the disk insurance I took out on it. Not bad for nearly a month of gaming. Certainly cheaper than renting it. Put it towards some PSN credit for PCars.

Isn't the PS plus version just a fraction of the game? It's been advertised as not the full version, since it was going to be free.

The free PS Plus edition is stripped down with 1 location, 11 tracks and 10 cars. The version on the store right now is the full game upgrade.

From what I remember when I was going to buy it, it is the same as what you would get if you picked up the retail version form a store.

Audiman I think is right, it was never supposed to be the full game.

That's the free version, don't remember seeing that in the store. The PS plus editon is £20.

The free version was, as AudiMan says, a limited version of the game confined to the locations in India. The confusion probably comes from the PS+ upgrade version, which was designed for those who tried the PS+ version and then wanted the full game upgrade. It was also cheaper (at the time) than the retail copies if you are a PS+ member.
