i know that theres no official porsches in GT5, however some of you may have noticed as i did that there is at least one car that is "based" on a porsche. i'm talking about the CTR "Yellow Bird" that is found in the Used car market, it doesnt have a porsche name but if you read the description its based on a porsche 930, the license plate even has 911 on it lol. so since that discovery ive been trying to find any other porsche "based" cars and im not having much luck. I'm hoping that some people have already found other cars like this, or maybe its the only one?

I'm a big porsche fan and it just makes me feel good having and driving a porsche in this game, so please if you know anything any others please help me find them, and maybe we will have a list of them all soon! if there isnt one already of course 💡

All cars made by RUF are actually PORSCHE, but better. A RUF will always beat the Porsche it derived from. So, you only have to search for RUF to get them all eventually, there must be 5 or 6 different models in the game. Good luck!

thanks for all the good info guys, im really not much of a car junkie outside of playing GT5 so i really apreciate the help!

Apparently Porsche don't endorse the game, hence the reason there is no new car dealership for them?

Think we had this discussion a million times by now ... RUF is not an upgraded Porsche, RUF is a manufactorer not a tuning company ...

'RUFs are built from unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis'

Sounds like it's a porsche to me, put all the makeup in the world on it, it's still only as good as the 'Porsche' chassis it is BUILT ON.

Do not say that RUFs are modified Porsches on this forum. There are lots of hardliners here that keep insisting that - even though it quacks, walks and looks like a duck - it's not a duck, because Wikipedia says so. :)

The German jurisdiction/government seems to say so as well.

Ruf's are not Porsches. That is true, but I'm not going to get on anyone for saying they are. You can think of it like Saleen, but it is different.

What gets me is, there are no Porsches. But as I recall, the company that owns Prosche, owns the VW group. All of the VW brands (Audi, Bugatti, Lamborghini, SEAT, Skoda, and VW) are in, or have been, in GT.

Why is that?

Yes, but since when do business law and common sense have anything in common?

Any RUF started its career in a Porsche factory, plain and simple.

They probably started out as a piece of metal at ThyssenKrupp Steel or wherever Porsche gets their material from. Doesn't mean its a ThyssenKrupp Steel 911 Turbo, does it?

Either way, I won't discuss this any further, it has been done before anyways :D
Matter of the fact is, the five RUFs in GT5's UCD are as close to a Porsche as one can get in the game.

Someone by all means correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it's simply a licensing issue and Porsche has a deal with another video game (Need for Speed I think?)...

Apparently EA hols the license, and others pay them to have Porsche in their games.

To the OP, like the others have said RUF's are the closest thing to Porsche in this game. Just keep checking the Used Car Dealership and they'll show up eventually.

Let that be a lesson to Prosche and everyone. Don't sign exclusive deals. Someone will come along with a better product and you'll be left out. At least they only signed away Porsche and not the entire VW AG stables.

The "company that owns Porsche" is Porsche. Porsche is the majority shareholder of the VW/Audi group.

Porsche had already established an exclusive license agreement with another gaming company (Electronic Arts) and they cannot give a license to PD without breaching their pre-existing agreement with EA. Since there was no exclusive license for VW, Audi, etc, Porsche SE was free to license cars from those brands to PD.

I think there was a similar issue with Ferrari - hence why they weren't in GT4... Once again correct me if I am wrong :)

It's a shame though, I'd love to have a 911 GT3 :(

Nothing to do with Porsche, the licensing responsibility for the Porsche name and associated images is in the hands of EA.

It only looks like a duck. The quack and the walk are all its own. Knowing things beats looking them up.

Ruf aren't Porsche. Brabus aren't Mercedes. Alpina aren't BMW. The Toyota Aygo isn't a Peugeot 107. A Vauxhall VXR8 isn't a Holden Monaro. And since the thread-starter has his answer, despite attempts from the usual crowd to derail it, this thread isn't open.
