For my summer English class at my college we are required to conduct a survey. In order to receive full credit, and use the information in our 15 page research papers, we must get at least 150 people to partake in it. More details are in the short intro of the survey, but I would like to stress that all answers will remain 100% anonymous.

I would be very appreciative to anyone who takes a few minutes to fill out my survey. If you want to further help me out, sending it to others you know would really brighten my day.

*EDIT* I understand that many people will not agree with the available options. I would like to respond to this in saying this is not an official survey, the results will not be given out anywhere, only I will see the final statistics and will not go through each individual person's answers.

I'm asking for you to complete it, because at the end of the day # of completions is what I need most.

Thank you,
Blitz

Done and done as well. Wish you the best luck on this! ;) --- Randy

Done. Good luck!

But I'm still critical of the questions and answers presented. I realize it's just an assignment, I've done "just an assignment" a few times, but with a topic like this I feel you should try to accomplish something with it instead of just asking random questions.

Hehe, guess I should have given some more background in the OP about my paper.

The questions are not random, I assure you. They touch on various points in my essay which is on the negative effects of outsourcing. The answers will be used to prove certain viewpoints, or clearly show what people are/are not aware of. I know out of context they may seem like they don't go together, but in my broken-down sub-chapters they do. There's one focusing specifically on the dept, our foreign dependance, and how we make too many unnecessary expenditures. The next focuses entirely on the manufacturing industry. And the last is all about the people affected by outsourcing.

I'm a creative writer, so doing a "super-serious" research paper has proven to be difficult.

Couldn't complete. There were no "don't know/don't care" options.

:sly: That's the point. Surveys aren't good sources for information in general, but for our papers their lop-sided approaches work great.

I think the questions are worded in a way that respondents will be manipulated into supporting your theory of outsourcing being bad.

I believe outsourcing is not bad, but there were several questions that were worded in such a way that my answers could be perceived as being anti-outsourcing.

As a result I did not complete the survey.

My essay is not saying that outsourcing is 100% bad. I use a lot of gathered facts and statistics to show that it's being done way out of balance. The recurring theme is that imports and exports need to balance out, which for obvious reasons (US hitting the dept ceiling) that isn't happening. I'm just using foreign outsourcing as one example of how we are taking money out of our economic system when we don't always need to.

I still thank you for your time on at least looking it over.

(BTW I'm not a big political nut in any way, shape or form. I had to do a lot of research on this topic so I could understand the points I made)

So you'd rather we lied, then?

I'd rather people vote more on the "yes"/"no" part and forget about my words after if that is what bothers them.

I put it on here because I thought I could get a lot of people to take it. My problem has been I've sent it to everyone I have contact info for, but even after 2 reminders I feel like nobody has passed it on. As it stands right now, I need to double the results I've gotten in the last week in 2 days to get my grade. If everyone I sent it to in the first place took it and was able to get at least 2 other people to take it, I'd have zero problems. But the numbers don't lie, and nobody has done anything so I posted it here.

Well I filled it in to help with your numbers, turns out I'm a democrat... don't even know what one of them is... anyway, aside from the fact I'm not from the USA and a fair portion of my companies profit comes in from products supplied to the American military, I answered it as honestly as I could, but I would say the questions were loaded... I did not agree entirely with some of the answers given..

Good luck anyway.

Done!
However...

Q: What gender?
A: Male (Fine)
Female (Fine)
Other (What??)

Please define this 'Other' gender. :p ('GTPlanet member' doesn't count. :D)

Well, what option would a hermaphrodite choose? Or possibly someone who has underwent a partial sex-change. Not going into detail, but they do exist.

I'm speaking about the "yes" or "no" part. Let's take an example. One question is, "Are we risking the health of our children by relying on the quality of imported foods?" I don't know. I have done zero research into this matter. So I have three options. 1. Lie and say "yes". 2. Lie and say "no". 3. Not answer and have you whine about people not completing it when asked. Actually there's a fourth option: try to show you that your survey is faulty. But that option doesn't seem to be working.

Then there are questions like "Are you concerned about the quality of products imported from East Asian countries?" which have no yes/no choices, and one of the choices deals with product safety regulations and not quality.

wow, your questions are pretty biased... my my my.
maybe you want to get some deeper knowledge between objective and subjective questions.

wanted to finish it but stopped because of the above. Are you working for the Tea party ?

Btw. Im against outsourcing. In general, the benefit of it (e.g. lower production, storage or shipping costs) benefit usually only a very few. It may be needed/considered sometimes (e.g. you can in no way compete with your competitor in your home market and need to outsource your production) but this situation is mostly only the fault(s) of the management in the past.
Outsourcing also mostly includes quality losses (try to stitch something as precise and fast as your grand mom who knows how to do it since years)

People don't seem to be getting the pint here, so I'll try to spell it out. I am not fully against outsourcing. I believe it is completely fine IN MODERATION. The problem is when we rely too much on it. This survey is not designed to go on a large scale or have any political value whatsoever, it is simply me gathering peoples' general opinions and understandings so that I can integrate the results into my paper. Yes, they are slanted, but that's the whole point of the paper. If you can't agree that I am just doing what I need to for my paper then don't worry, I already have hit the minimum number that I needed.
