This looks brilliant:

These two enigmatic shots of a Lancia Stratos-esque car have filtered out onto the web. Originally broken by Italian car blog Italiaspeed, the shots were taken back in June at Alfa Romeo's Balocco test track in Italy. But exactly what it is, nobody seems quite sure.

Rally fans, Lancisti and those with good memories may remember the Fenomenon Stratos concept from the 2005 Geneva motor show (bottom right), and this seems to be the best bet for the original source of the new car, although the nose appears to have been mildly redesigned.

Chris Hrabelek, the man behind the Fenomenon Stratos, still owns the rights to the name, but as far as we can make out the project is a one-off for a wealthy enthusiast, rather than a revival of the original series production plans for the Fenomenon car.

As for the drivetrain and chassis, the situation is as clear as the fuzzy spy shots. The general consensus seems to be that the Stratos will use a Ferrari V8 and a chopped-down Ferrari chassis, though whether these will come from a 360 Challenge Stradale, an F430 or even an F430 Challenge racer is unclear.

An F430 basis seems most sensible, but even though the use of the Balocco facility means the project has Fiat Auto's implicit approval, it's unlikely that neither Fiat, Ferrari nor Lancia will have anything more than a tangential involvement with the project.

On the other hand, these could just be the first images of an Alfa 8C-style halo car for Lancia. Here's hoping...

Sweet Christmas! Though if Lancia did built one, I'd rather have a smaller, lighter car than the F458 and with a V6. Tradition, you see.

Insert expletives -Here-, -Here-, -Here-, and -Here-.

That is the sexiest thing I've seen all year, if they made that I'd buy one (you know assuming it isn't like north of $50k). I love the rear end, it's so....8C-esque, even if the Stratos had that stylized rear end first (It did, but I'm trying to make a point here ). Sexy, sexy, sexy.

Did I mention it was sexy?

Front lights look awful, but it's a cool car.

Saw this on Jalopnik a few days ago. I think its the best looking car made in a while. Needs a rally-light option. I hope it sees some sort of production but it doesn't seem likely.

Edit: Some dyslexia going on in the thread title. LANCIA

I. Want. One.

Make it, or I will find you (whoever you are at Lancia) and make you listen to five straight hours of Dane Cook being "funny".

After this they should find a way to bring back the Delta S4. That is all I'd ever need. And not the tuned down street version, the all out race version. The Stratos looks amazing though, even know the spy shots look like a picture off of GT5.

Lancia Stratos-esque car

Looks like a successful revival to me, sad of the article Blitz187 brought in, will be a one off.

I think it's hideous. Yes, the old Stratos is a legendary car, but an ugly one. And this one is even worse.

^^^^ It says this in my link as well.... So I dont think we should get our hopes up..

Fiat's involvement in the project is said to be nothing more than provision of technical assistance and facilities, so hopes for even a limited production run of the car are essentially zero, despite rumors it might happen since the concept's debut in 2005. Still, it's a brilliant idea, and if the rumors prove true, it will be well-executed, too.

I'd rather have a proper Stratos.

Very nice but as mentioned, it needs the Rally light option and maybe even the rally paint job option. :)

I much prefer the look of the 2005 Fenomenon Stratos compared to the new Lancia in house one which took this deisgn and made it look worse!

Robin.

That Stratos looks huge compared to Lancia's version.

Personally, I would love to see the car go into production, but I feel that the Stratos should stay the way it is, a legend.

The 2005 one looks like its made of plastic.. ESPECIALLY the real lights. And is it me or does the rear of the new one look like its UBER surprised.

What "hopes"? Are you going to be able to affort one? If not, than it doesn't matter if it's just a one-car-show-off model or a production car.

No offence. ;)

Sooooo, what - you get no joy from seeing an F40 or other hypercarpr0n roll by?

;)
