If this were sad;

=Pic=

Am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely hideous? It looks like some horrific 90's 'futuristic' car. If they're going to remake it they could at least try and bring it a little up to date.
^ IMO, the only thing that ruined the car was it didn't featured those awesome pop-up headlights, that is it.

I really love how it's modernized with its appearance still looking identical to the old one (it can make people who see it for the first time to think, "Hmm...is that a new Stratos!?"), especially those circular taillights and the body shape, of course.

But, but...those headlights are just too...rigid. For me.

I wouldn't say hideous, It's not particularly great looking, although concept cars are often in need a bit of cleaning up style wise for production.

It's certainly not a patch on the original stratos though.

It's the fact that they pulled a Ford GT with a car that doesn't translate as well into modern society...in some people's eyes. To be fair, the original Stratos was a bit misproportioned, being about the same length as a modern 5-door supermini.

However, I really like how it looks, and think that other stratos shown above, the Fenomenon car, looks absolutely hideous.

My rule for retrospective cars has always been that it must always be built within the same spirit/mindset/purpose of the original. For this reason I've never like the new Beetles, new MINI's (although I respect them), Prowler, Thunderbird and so on. I can't decide on this one though.

The original Stratos road-version was only put out there to comply with the homologation rules, this one is not. On the other hand, the pictures in the link make it look like it could be quite the little sports car...(Damn pretty as well)

Love the wheels, love the shape, love the rear end (especially), love the windscreen. Then again, it was based on the Stratos, there aren't many ways to screw something like that up... except that front end, that could use some work...

I love everything about it. The Fenomenon concept was too radical. This is just right in my opinion, just "retro" enough.

I know this thread is a little "stale" now as there hasn't been any new news... But I was reading through the "new-stratos" website (whether its official or not) and noticed it mentioned production (even if limited) is dependent on customer demand.

I am absolutely crazy about this "concept", as well as the FT-86. I would surely love to see this on the road... Too bad I most likely won't be able to afford it (if it does happen).

I'm surprised to see that not many users on this forum are excited for this car... This is usual very well known and popular amongst most car enthusiasts for its unusual/unique race-bred history.

The rear end looks amazing as does the profile but I'm not sold on the front end looks.

I really hope pd revisit the classical Stratos and remodel it as a premium, and add the new one in GT6 too of course. :)

:( Only 40 being made.. with a fairly big price tag of around $500,000 buckaroo's ... *sigh*

Rich people always have all the fun

Meh...you don't NEED money to have fun. Sure, they get a half-million dollar exotic...but they have to worry about their investment...where as us, with cheap cars, don't have to.

as much.

Sweet Christmas! Though if Lancia did built one, I'd rather have a smaller, lighter car than the F458 and with a V6. Tradition, you see.

theres no f on 458 its 458 italia
get it right or dont post on automotive news buck

I think its amazing. People can say what they want. I like the idea of using the engine from the f430 scuderia, just like the old Stratos used the V6 engine from the Ferrari Dino. And everyone says its simply just a remake, it looks no different. Well its not cause they did not put pop up lights on it and the powertrain is miles away from where they were with the old one. Amazing car. And yes Lancia will produce this car however it will be a limited production. Im guessing 30-40 a year and maybe 150 total

And in the next post:

Pot, meet kettle. The 430 Scuderia dropped the F in its model name. Welcome to the board, but I would suggest that in the future you don't pull one post from almost 6 months ago just to pick on an inconsequential error. Also, double posting is frowned upon here, so please just make it all in one post.

Anyways, back on topic.

I just looked through the New Stratos website and the technical specifications and I'm excited that they are planning on actually rallying the new Statos. I couldn't find if the car is rear wheel drive or four wheel drive; from one of the pictures of aero testing, all four wheels are rolling, which makes me think it's going to be 4 wheel drive. No matter though, it looks great and I hope there's enough interest from wealthy people that they'll make at least a small batch of this.

Too bad pop-up headlights probably won't meet Euro NCAP standards. Those would be cool.

^I hope they keep it RWD for one to keep the tradition and also for showcasing that, if going sideways is not faster than AWD traction, at least it's as fast (in the right hands)!

No one can beat the flying wedge. One of the best designs (mechanically and aesthetically) in history if you ask me.

Doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the original with the Dino V6 IMO. But if I could afford the old or new Stratos, I would take both in a heartbeat.
