Please PD - rework the pad configuration

I don't think using wheels should give an advantage in control although it seems it does. I understand a wheel can be more immersive and fun, but everything that gives actually an advantage over the DS36AXIS is some sort of cheating somehow ... but that's another story ;)

Not really, a real car is driven with a wheel and pedals, not a controller. If it was quicker to use a controller than a wheel would you class that as cheating?

Why are we in the GT5 forum and not the Prologue forum? Moving...

True, but Gran Turismo is a videogame, not a car. So I still prefer using my good old pad when I play a videogame. Of course if a pad had a advantage over a wheel i'd consider this an unfair advantage, too! That would be just the other way round, right?

And this since April 7th... :sly: Good point though 👍

Tell the truth, I want PD to work more on wheels, Which already they are doing awesome job, One of the finest FFBs I've seen in a racing game. GT5P is only half as fun without the wheel. Consider getting one :)

And I agree, If triggers cant be pressure 100% its not acceptable.

Some people dont have the money and space for a wheel. To use a wheel with GT you will need something to clamp it to. I have a G25 but there isnt enough space in my living room to put something to clamp it to.

Are they going to add the G25 wheel settings menu in the full game as i dont want to spend 150 quid on it and then the full game not support the wheel.

I just don't understand why I can't assigned the Quick Settings menu to use the joystick up/down/left/right to scroll through the menu and add or subtract from TCS on the fly. Right now they make you 'click' the joystick to add or subtract values. Which is really an effecient way of doing things on the fly.

I've used a pad for a long time, since the likes of old F1'95, original TOCA etc. I'm very confortable with analogue pad controlling, and can match most laptimes done using a wheel in whatever sim game (except that Polish guy who kills everyone in Toca RD3! ).

I just wonder have GT done some deal with Logictech to make the pad alalogue handling so bad that it forces a good few extra people to fork out a couple of hundread quid for one of their wheels. I'm suffering so much with the pad handling that it's exactly what I'm considering doing, although if the analogue controls could be callibrated, I would not need to whatsoever.

I used left-stick steering, right-stick throttle. The main problem is the response time with the steering. Of course in a real car one cannot hit 100% lock "immediately". But try hitting maybe 30% with the stick. There's a slight delay in any movement, and when it does start moving it's this loonng drawwn out movement and takes so long to actually reach the amount of steering lock one wishes for. This is especially a problem when correcting oversteer. But generally it's a pain to try and compensate for it and it very difficult to corner consistantly quick.

Same goes for the steering-release, although it's a bit more responsive.

All the steering sensitivity is within the low percentages, making it very difficult to make the smaller steering movements/corrections, which make up the majority on a lot of circuits!

And of course the throttle. It's responsive, but again flawed. 50% on the stick results in around 30% actual throttle. So all the sensitivity is in the high percentages. This makes it very difficult to exit corners effectively without traction control.

I know a lot of people feel there's no reason to complain; there will be an update in the pipeline allowing us to modify callibration settings etc. But I find it ridiculous that it's not already been implementated, or that it's not a priority. This is supposed to be a "sim", appealing to the wider audience, but although to real enthusiasts who require this simple ability to modify and callibrate the analogue controlling.

i agree with the opinons of the posters on this thread. Although i've used a wheel in GT5 only once the experience was very very cool, but like many others i simply dont have the luxury to have a huge seat and wheel in the middle of my living room (besides my gf would absolutley hate it).

I have always used a controller for GT and the only gripe i have about it is the throttle sensitivity. There is no leeway from say 60% throttle to 100% throttle. Just adding very light pressure on the x button will give you reasonable throttle input but there is a point where it jumps from 60% to 100%, not fun on corner exits and kills lap times. On Gt4 this was much more managable, i hope it is adjusted sometime in the future :)

Hmm, i drift using the x button as throttle on the sixaxis controller, so its just a matter of getting used to the pressure sensitivity.

I find the L2 and R2 buttons good to use for accleration and brakes 👍
