Given this PD's choice to model this incorrectly (after getting it right in the first place) may well 'balance' things better between wheel and pad users (I would have preferred to see a better pad clutch system instead), but it removes from the title part of its 'sim' credentials. Its also odd given that other options allow some users an advantage over the course of a lap, the most obvious one being AT vs MT.

Model it correctly, time-trialers will whine. Model it like we had now, realists will whine. Nobody can be pleased.

IF you are even lucky enough to have an adjustable transmission that PD deems worthy to work with a clutch and shifter! Don't say you support an option and give this works on select cars only crap.

NOT TRUE AT ALL! If they model the clutch correctly, they could then ban it's use in Time Trials, & give room hosts online the option to enable or disable it online. That way, they'd be no issue regarding clutch users vs DS3 users, & the all the clutch users would be a lot more happy too.

They way PD do it, by nerfing the clutch, only upsets all the clutch users who have paid lots of money for their set ups. PD are so black & white/either or/all or nothing in their thinking sometimes, they can't see beyond one extreme option. It saddens me no end.

...The best indication of the zone where you must not make "illegal" maneuvers in the prior lap is anywhere from the point where you were placed for the first lap. That is chosen far enough back to ensure you can maximize your speed at lap start. Again, taking Spa as an example, your car appears a distance before the chicane. Typically, after you are given control, you will have to slow down to negotiate the chicane. Therefore, they have placed you far enough back from the start line for you to optimize your entry into the first lap.
Nicely put, I had suspected something like this but never really put the time in to nail the rationale down.

There was one test or seasonal TT on GT5 at Laguna Seca however, where it didn't, and you had what felt like a fraction of a second before you were over the start line and wrestling your car left through that corner - all at high speed. It was very noticeable by its lack of conformity to the normal practise - I think it even got patched.
