Prepare to be amazed, at the future of pocket/portable computing, take a look at this brief article composed mainly of pictures of what computing may be like in the very near future. This is a complete concept computer system, ie processor/memory,screen,keyboard nothing else will be required or needs to be plugged in. Notice the distinct lack of wires the whole thing could operate via bluetooth.

Remember this is NOT an actual system, merely a concept at this stage, however in theory this is not beyond the relams of current technology.

Three and a half years and the closest thing we have that I know of is a Fly? I'm guessing it's not going to take off.

For the sake of argument, let's say that it does work with current technology. How long would the battery last? Twelve minutes?

The only way to improve a pen is to make it write for you.

I know the keyboard is available I have actually used this with a PDA at work about a year and half ago so that works very well, the projector element for screen in itself is not a huge leap of the imagination just requires miniaturisation and power efficiency. The processor unit, memory etc the main problem would perhaps be efficient cooling of the CPU, however most modern smart phones etc. manage to deal with this problem in a reasonably efficient manner.
The battery life would be absolutely critical here, after all if it gave you half an hour of usage then there would be few people who would consider this. Perhaps some form of fuel cell? The currently developed ones offer 12-14 hours of continual usage, and the new ones being developed/tested promise up to 2 days worth of usage.

The only way to improve a pen is to make it write for you.

Quite funny actually when you think of it that way...the only recent innovation in pen design is to suggestcreate creating something which forces you to write it in a long winded manner (ie turn your pen computer on and type it).
