can someone explain it to me. ie. do you win anything when you reach certain levels? etc etc......

Search button, my friend.

It's all well and good saying that, 1twojay, but I've yet to see ANYONE say anything concrete about the points at all. Just a few people speculating on why you get points, what you get them for and what the hell they're used for.

So, if you could (my ad hoc manual translation skills are a bit ropey), please answer my questions.

1. How are A-spec points awarded? Why is a 0 point race different from a 12 point race?
2. What are A-spec points used for? Bragging rights or simply something useful within the game.
3. How can one maximise A-spec points - and why would you want to?

Anyone else reading this who doesn't know, DON'T GUESS. "Bad information is bad, mmmkay?". If you don't know the answer, please don't give the answer.

A-spec points so far have prove to be nothing but a system of self-gratification. You are not rewarded with anything as far as i'm concerned. I'm 40+% into the game with 4000+ A-spec points and I haven't unlocked jack yet. (Someone correct me if i'm wrong).

How to maximize a-spec points earning? Use a really crappy car to WIN against a really high power race car. Use a Mercedes Patent Wagon to beat a Zonda C12 you will prolly get 1 billion a-spec points, on the other hand, if you use a JGTC car against some stock japanese car, you will end up with only 1 a-spec point. Clear???

To a point (no pun intended).

I tried two arcade races - one in a Seat Ibiza Cupra on the Nurburgring (best opponent a Toyota Yaris 1.5RS) and was told, lovingly, that it was a 12 point race, and the other in a Ford Focus ST170 (a similar powered car) on the High Speed Ring (best opponent a Volvo S... something) and this time found myself in a no point race.

There's no apparent logic there. The ST170 and Cupra are very similar for power and were up against vastly different opponents (the Volvo ought to be quicker than the Ford, the Yaris ought to be slower than the Seat) but the points "awarded" were seemingly the wrong way round to how it has been stated here so far.

thats jusy plain weird?

Famine, PD isn't going to let a little thing like logic mess up there game.

P.S. That is really weird....

Theoretically, that could have been one of the bugs that have been in GT4. Hopefully PD is doing something useful with their time (from the delay) and fixing all of these bugs.

hi peeps. did a search on this and there is no conclusion yet.

anyone know definitely?

What about B-spec points? what do i benifit from having more points? What do i benifit from having higher mechanical/battle B-spec points? can anyone clear this up also?

I can answer this definitively now... :D

A-Spec points have no function whatsoever. Nothing is unlocked or gained from having more A-Spec points than someone else.

B-Spec points improve your B-Spec Gonk. The more points he has, the better he drives. The more Machine points he has, the better he is driving the current car. The more Battle points he has, the better he is at overtaking.

I don't like A-spec points they're just not consistent, I wish I could rely on them as an indicator of difficulty but I did a 44pt race last night and won with ease yet I've had races for far lower points that I've not had a chance in. I've won a few 200pt races easily as well, also it doesn't factor in NOS which can make a huge difference.

My B-spec driver is better now than when he started, he has a battle skill of 68 but he still drives straight into the back of other cars and doesn't push on when he has the chance. On an empty track he's very slightly better than me (course 91 machine 88) but when other cars are on track I am far better. He's adequate for doing all the endurance races which is the only thing that matter to me.

Points give you an indication of how hard the race should be.
so that means the better the car you have compared to ai cars will give you diff point races.

Maximize points buy racing with a slower car than the AI.

...have you (or anyone) figured out how these are increased, ie; how can I build up my b-spec gonks battle points???

PS: Famine you have been a really big help with many aspects of learning GT4, thanks man!

Robmuzz ...

to increase all those stats you basically just have to not go off track etc.

So how did I get 200pts in the truck race yet was able to pass everyone else by the second corner? It only relates to weight and power which is a bit vague

It also relates to tyre type. Running with Standard tyres will get you more points than with Racing slicks.

I think A-spec points will be one of the unresolved mysteries in GT4...

For me, it's just another way of charting my progress. Some people like to compare completion percentage, some compare Liscense Test golds and other like win percentage. I like to compare A-spec points. If someone has a high win-percentage but a low A-spec score, it's obvious that they've used high-powered cars to overwhelm the opposition.

It is probable that there is no reward for high A-spec points, just like for win-percentage.

i read somewhere on here that its down to power and weight. hence thats why my dodge ram got 200 points in races and slaughtered the opponents. if you use a high powered light car you get much less. ive also had real trouble on 1 point races, a pontiac cannot, in any way, beat the buick special.

That sounds about right I entered the World Classics Championship in a '70 Chevelle. 10 point race but the AC stomped me.
