As the tittle states, do you think standard cars will be in GT6?

My answer would have to be no. I think by the time GT6 releases, there won't be any need for standard cars. By that, I mean that PD should have enough premium made cars to be enough for a single game. And thus, if GT6 releases with the PS4, standard cars won't blend in as well as they do in GT5.

GT6 on PS3: Yes.

GT6 on PS4: No.

Some standards should definitely make the leap into premiumhood (XJ220, Supra RZ, Yellow Bird, among others), but many should and will not. Thankfully.

I expect 500-600 premium cars by GT6 (assuming it comes out in around 2014).

I expect 425-500 premium cars by GT6 (assuming it comes out in around 2013).

If GT6 is on PS3, then yes. They already have all the cars modeled and the physics defined. The graphics won't improve significantly enough, so the quality of the modeling won't make a difference.

If GT6 is on the PS4, then no.

The way I see it is that they will have to model the interiors of every standard car in GT5. Difficult and time consuming, but not impossible. What will be really hard is getting the interiors modeled for the old race cars (Ford GT40, Ferrari 330, Minolta 88-CV, Jaguar XJR-9...).

I think I have an even better question. Does anyone think the premiums of today will be the standards of, say, GT7?

As for GT6, I think the car count will be lower due to the fact that they want all cars to be premium (At least according to Kaz).

I don't think standard cars will be in GT6. They shouldn't have been in GT5, so they really should not be in GT6. In this day and age, there's no excuse for PS2 cars in a PS3 game. If they have to outsource some cars, then they should. I would happily accept 400-500 premium cars as long as there weren't any ugly standards in the game. Consistency is key here, the standard cars just dragged GT5 down and made it look unfinished.

(All my opinion of course, and you're welcome to disagree with it, just don't try and argue that I should change my opinion, because I won't.)

I'd think not. I mean, their parts are modeled individually, so it's not like they need to be re-done (standards are one entire car model).

If they keep remaking cars, GT will go no places. I imagine they'll just upgrade PS3 premiums models with the new lighting engine on the next console(s). No need to take 1 step forward and 10 steps back.

Yes. Whether it's on PS3 or PS4, there will be standards. If not, then the car list will probably be quite low. But I still think it's a yes.

No it kills the seriousity (is that an english word? :D ) of the game... No other PS3 game has PS2 stuff in it and also on the x360... (ok I dont mean the HD classics games like God of War or MGS collection)

I totally agree

The main reason gt5 (and 3) took a while was that they had to rebuild lots of the game for the new systems, Ps2 and Ps3 respectively. Then 4 wasn't as long coming due to having a similar physics engine/ similar graphics stuff, so hopefully they won't have that problem with GT6! :D

I kinda miss the ability to have a race with only premium cars, it was cool in prolouge. In case they keep standarads I hope they'll add an option to "switch standard cars off". I think replays and the feeling to be playing a "next gen" game will benefit from it. Oh wait.. they should add somethin like that even in GT5.

No. I don't like standard cars. They should uprate them and give them premium qualities. I fell like this because although cars like the japanise rubbish that makes up 50% of the game should have little or no.attention paid to them, good cars like the xjr and veyron are being submitted to a downgrade. This isn't right.

I remember reading about the premium cars when GT5 was in the works and PD said it would take 20 years to do every single interior in high quality.

Also would be good to see all of the tracks have a change weather and time system, not just a certain few. Trial Mountain in the wet would be pretty good!

There had better not be any standards in GT6...

No standard cars I am pretty sure. Majority of them do not like it so they will not have in the next games.

Please no. ALL cars need to be consistent this time and I hope they never do this Premium/Standard nonsense ever again.

WOW still no "If you don´t like them, dont choose them" comment 👍

If GT6 comes in PS4 i believe there will be only premiums but less overall amount of cars, like in GT3.

Beleive what you will but current premiums in GT5 as Kaz has stated before will become the "standards" for GT6, with premium cars being higher quality.

I think regardless of whether GT6 is a PS3 or PlayStation 4 release there will be no standard cars. That is an approach you get away with once and once only.

In fact I believe GT6 will have a significant number of cars less so as to have all premium and this could be helped greatly by eliminating silly repetition which is fine by me.

I hope not but I think they might.

I think some of you are confused as to what it means to be "standard".

A standard car is one entity. Everything about the car is one entire model; its parts (bumpers, headlights, doors, etc) were never individually monitored. That's why you can't change the wheels on a standard car.

If anything, PS3 premiums would need a bit more lighting to look as best as possible on the PS4, but since its parts were modeled separately, you'd have to believe they're ready!

Do you really think a PS3 premium with PS4 lighting will look bad? I highly doubt it.

It seems as though I may be one of the few individuals that likes the Standard Models.

If having "standard" models means more cars, then so be it. I personally drive the bumper cam, so maybe that's why I don't have such an affinity for the cockpit modeling. I can appreciate that, and yes some fidelity loss on the standards are somewhat disappointing, but I'd rather have 1000 cars than 200. If they only model new Premiums for GT6, add select Premiums from GT5 (leaving out duplicate models such as different model year NASCARs), and carry over around half of the standards, then I'll be happy. Some of the standards are awesome classics. I don't really want to lose them. I know we don't need 35 R32, R33, and R34s, 25 Miatas/Roadsters, 20 Supras, 20 Imprezas, and 20 RX-7s. Pick a few (like the MNP Skyline) and keep cars like the old classic Corvettes, milestone cars that are a novelty like the Subaru 360, Fiat 500F, and classic Beetle.

Maybe a slightly different system could be devised, like Classics, Used Lot, and New Dealership mixing "standards" with "premiums" as needed. Now if they can up-convert some of the standards, then that's great. I'd rather have them as is than lose them. If keeping them as Standards means that I get new 2012, 2013, and beyond cars, as well as maybe a few classics, and current cars (that aren't currently modeled) to be modeled as Premiums, that'd be great.

No, but who knows. Mr Yamauchi is always full of surprizes.

I personally think that GT6 will have only premium trim cars and for that, the list might be dropped down to at least 550 cars. I rather have that with each brand having at least 15 to 20 of their best known models (just like in GT2).

But I hope that the most popular standars will make it to that list, since there a lot of standards that I would dearly miss.

As much as I have fun with standards, like them and have 80% of my garage as standards...

For GT6, no standards please! But I don't want only 300 premium cars... PD will need to work hard. At least 600 cars will be required to keep the lineage strong.

Ofcourse there will be standards. Its impossible they can make many more premiums.

I hope I don't sound rude, but who cares? GT6 is nowhere near completion, and this is a Gran Turismo 5 sub-forum... I'm growing tired of reading threads about what people hope/wish/speculate will be in the next Gran Turismo. Contain it in a single thread, or create a new sub-forum for "The Future of Gran Turismo".

My 2 cents.

330 p4 is premium

No IF the game is released for the PS4 and they don't update them, I mean Standard Cars are upscaled versions from GT4, for the next gen game they'll need to update them in some way as the difference will be bigger with every new batch of models added, GT5 Premium should be "Standards" from the next game, in a good way, meaning new model will have more poly counts and look even better with more details compared to GT5 car models
