Hello GTP community and fellow GT5 addicts,

I'm curios how much/often you visit GT Photostream? The official feature introduced in update 2.06 (https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-update-2-06-brings-photo-stream-new-features-bug-fixes/), where photos of GT5 photographers from all over the world get shown off to the public.

I, personally, check it daily. It's always nice to visit there and be surprised about new photos, of course lots of random/boring/crap shots but there's usually at least one or two interesting, inspiring or special shots between them. Unique car creations, epic crashes and damages, weird glitches (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=7401140#post7401140) and so on. Getting your own ones in is also pretty easy by the way, set them online and check the stream 10 minutes later, chances are pretty high they are one of the latest shots.
Since there are 2-5 pictures added on top every few minutes it's interesting to check back there after some time surfing the web, like an hour, too.

Searching 'GT photostream' on this site gave nearly no results, except my thread linked above and the official announcement on news page about 2.06 including it. Also, looking at the number of facebook likes (388 at the moment) it doesn't seem to be a site visited by thousands of people a day (I know measuring it that way is ridiculous but... well, it's facebook :p).

Soo... how often do you visit it?
You can do so right now. http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/gt5/photo/

By the way, what would you think about adding a member function, so if you log in with your PSN account for example you see which of your photos made it in (and when), how many people watched those, you could collect favourites (something like flick.r) and share them with your PSN friends through the site, etc. etc. ... that'd make it much more interesting, wouldn't it?

I checked it out in your link, and the pictures aren't as good as the ones GTP members upload on the site.

That is correct. But there is something to it... like when you open a 1000 ticket, you know it's a waste but the thrill of getting surprised is somehow addicting.

At least to me. :indiff:

To be honest I had completely forgotten about it until reading this thread.

Probably most people not being into GT5 and photography that much did. I begin to doubt it was worth for PD putting that much work into the thing (server space, programming the website etc.)...

GT Photostream? Whats that?

In case you're not kidding, read the opening post and click the links glowing blue texts. :)

I used to. But every time I try to share a photo now, it just says "Online selection is full, nothing else can be added". And if I can't contribute to it, my interest in it diminishes. Yeah, I know...

That said, most of it is boring, repetitive crap. Oh look, more 86s. Wow, flipping a car in Trial Mountain, SO INSPIRING. Or, god, learn how to drive. Crashing an icon like the 787B isn't in the least bit funny. And the fact that we can't leave comments or any sort of recognition for the great shots just sap any value out of what it might have had to begin with.

I occasionally use photos from Stream in my reviews. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I like the feature.

I forgot about it honestly. Besides, GTPlanet's photomode section sets the bar for quality photos and covers pretty much all my photomode needs.

This. I was quite excited when it was announced but I've never used it. Don't plan on using it anytime soon.

I usually forget that the feature is even there. But just visiting it now, I did come across this photo which made me laugh

I didn't know about the board at all until I have read the posts in this thread, but if it's a spot for posting bunch of photos in photomode section with boring photos and attractive, interesting ones jumbled up together that come up in almost a daily rate, the photomode section in this community functions quite well as the substitution of it. 👍

But yes I will check out the photos and the outline of bulletinboards to see how good they deserve to be as the works of creditable photographers in the game. :D

Never. I don't even know how to access it.

The effort and time needed to make this... well frankly less than useful feature makes me wonder what they could have done to GT5 instead.

Once or twice I've looked at it and either laughed at the poor photos or the horrific JPEG compression applied to them. Why PD want their game to be represented in such a way I don't know.

I could have voted for never, it's only when it's been linked somewhere that I might even think of going to it. Just seems rather pointless to have such a system and not integrate it into the game itself, have a photostream tab off the mai menu of the game to have as a slideshow. If it were like that I might have voted much higher up the list.

If you're a member of a GT forum, you'll likely not care about that. I forgot about it until now since I don't have the bookmark in clear view and the sorting of the pictures is less than appealing. Some of the pictures are kept on "a" database and stored there for months, while others are deleted pretty soon after they're shown. It wasn't obvious before, but it's obvious now that it's the owners of the pictures unchecking the "Shared" option to the specific pictures.

I found a ton of them that I still have that are amazing. A lot of them have great imagination.

That's because the limit of photos you can set to online at the same time is 8. I know, that's terribly low, but there are more important things to storage on servers for PD... so, if you set some of your older shots offline you can set new ones online again.

I agree, there is a lot of random crap, but this is exactly what makes it interesting to find good shots; it's a bit of a lottery with lots of blanks. Makes the small wins more rewarding.

Agreed, GTP's photomode section pretty much covers all your needs for good photos. For me it's rather something additional.

Haha win!

See, that's exactly why I visit it often. Finding such pictures is amazing :)

Good point. Having this crap quality when watching friends' online shots on GT5 is annoying but having that on the official photostream makes it looking ridiculous. :(

Apart of the fact that I like to take screenshots of the best shots (hard to do when it's in a PS3 game) I agree, it should have been better implemented and give the user more opportunities to be active (comments, votes, favourites and such).
