Hi everyone :) I wish u all a fine racer :D

I took a little breather about 90km and 27minuts into 1h Spa WTC-800. I was about to enter settings, but I accidentally hit the retry button... halfway there, but hey... car broke down...

It can be a great solution to avoid a dumb mistake, (at least if you're in the lead).. to simply have [OK] / [CANCEL]. This is probably subject for other instances that you have a Hyperventilating-Panicking-Axiety attack of Regret...

A little over the top? Okay I think it is a bit hard. But the 3 seconds after such a mistake, is sometimes a manufacturer of 10 seconds of heart attack!

I don't think I am alone in this matter?
Any other suggestions?

I hope that this helps you and me to get a heads up to what you're doing.

I feel youre pain, i race without UI. Everytime i have to pit i pause turn on Ui, after the pit i turn it off. I often accidently hit Retry and mess it up 🤣

I'm genuinely bemused as to why anyone would think this is a bad idea even if it's something they've never done by mistake. While they're at it, they can make it so that pressing the circle button in the pits takes you back through the tyre and fuel menus so you can change your choices before you reach the pit box.

I like Dave's pit suggestion; long-needed IMHO.

Also, this "Are you sure?" option should be, well, an option, set to on or off in, you guessed it, the Options menu.

The reason I say this is that for most people most of the time, this shouldn't be a big deal. The mistake will be made occasionally, sure, but for a daily or lobby race that's only a few laps it won't be the end of the world.

If, however, you're in a GTWS or lengthy endurance event, the last thing you need is to accidentally hit the wrong tab.

It all gets a bit Ferrari team radio.

Do you want to quit the race, question.
Do you want to select the medium tyre, question.
Do you want to refuel the car, question.

Or Stroll.

"You need to push the confirm button."
"THE X BUTTON IS THE CONFIRM BUTTON BRAD."

Yeah I'm shocked they don't let you go back and change your tire selection before you get to the pits. If you press the wrong button accidentally, whelp, guess you're screwed. Also it would be nice if that new Race Shop menu also came up in the 20 seconds you're waiting for your car to arrive in the pits. I hate doing a race and find out on the 10th lap I need intermediate tires and I don't own any.

I'd like that.

Also, why can't we exit the Pause Menu (i.e. go back to the race) by pressing Circle, which would make accidentally pressing "Exit Race" or "Retry" much, much less likely in the first place?

You know, like in virtually every other game I can think of?

It has happened to me a couple of times, but on the flip side yet ANOTHER button press when I'm trying to re-do licence tests, circuit experience and so on would out-weigh it in terms of inconvenience.

Hence why I voted no - that said, a configurable option to turn it on and off would make me vote yes as I've completed all of the licence tests etc. and could change it for when I'm smashing out future circuit experiences (if we ever get new tracks... sigh)

I’m vehemently against adding “are you really really sure” buttons to patronize the player. It’s just a terrible precedent of treating the player as a toddler with no attention span nor self awareness.

I far prefer recognizing I’m an idiot by my own doing and paying the extra 3 seconds penalty backing out cause I’m impatient and mashing buttons like a toddler with no self awareness.

It's not about patronising, it's about giving players the opportunity to correct a mistake. Sure, it's your error when you restart a race or skip the tyre change menu by mistake when pitting in, but it's easily fixed with a quick and simple prompt, or in the case of the pit stop menus, letting you go back with the circle button.

I can’t disagree more. Agree to disagree on the fundamental aspects of the issue, but thanks for sharing your point of view.

To play devils advocate and look at a different perspective; is it then better to add an additional step and microsecond of time to UI navigation of every player to correct the common issue by user error that does not occur upon every use, especially considering past criticisms on menu heavy iterations of past GT entries?

Simple solution: an option to turn the prompt on or off. "Never show me this warning again" has been a standard UX feature for decades.

It's awful design to not have some kind of confirmation in place that could end your race or pitstop prematurely when it's present in other menus in the game. You get a confirmation prompt for purchasing cars or parts or changing decals etc. etc.

Or an even simpler solution: Allow us to close or step back menus with the "back" button on the controller that's standard in just about every other game. Why does GT7 require players to specifically click on a "close" or "return to race" button? Similarly in pitstops, why does the game not allow us to change our tire selection or whether we want to refuel or not during the 40 thumb twiddling seconds before our car materializes in the pitlane?

I’m sold on opt in as an option and leave the rest alone. It only slows those down that want to use it then. Agree pit times are ridiculous as well in GT7… it’s exactly why I’m mashing X out of frustration

I think a 'go back' option would suffice, at least with regards to Pit Stops as @Techlet succinctly put it... We have 40-odd thumb-twiddling seconds.

The question reminds me of the occasional times on GT Sport when I would pause the game during a right-hand turn and then in preparation to unpause I would ease the analogue stick to the right and immediately move the cursor to Retry
